How to print Character Mode in 9iDS

Dear,
I have come character mode reports, it run in Oracle Report 3.0 correctly and print on IBM proprinter.
But when i compiled in 9i DS, and it runs in Builder normally and on web it runs in html but it print as bimaped. So, Please help me this regarding because very very urgent.

i changed the layout model to character mode but the main problem is that how do i change the pagesize of the screen to 132*66!
at presenti can view only 80 chars screen!
is there any answer to it !!! can i change this setting so as to view my 132 column report on the screen first and then print on the printer !!

Problem to print character mode report in Landscape

I set orientation and select but it still print in landscape character mode. When it print in character mode report in portrait format its ok.
I Set and use all the option in report to print in Landscape in character mode.
I ask you please to give me information about the printing definition files and its codes, how to use printer codes. I use two printers
1. Epson LQ2180 2. HP 6L
I used HPLWIDE printing definition files put its still print in portrait format not to print in landscape.

Hi,
This sounds like a similar problem that I had (and still having). It was (is) a Bug. Go to metalink.oracle.com and reference this bug#1413754. See if this is your problem as well. My only work around was change the format of the file instead of using character mode I am now using PDF. Which is working fine for me.

Cannot print character mode in windows 2000

Hi,
When I try to execute a character mode report using a network printer the report does not run correctly (prt sheet size, escape sequences etc.).
There are three machines involved in this problem:
1) A Windows XP Professional running reports developer. This machine was used to develop the report. It will be reffered as WXP in the future. These are version details of this machine:

As you can see, all versions are exactly the same in both machines.
3) A windows 98 machine with a epson fx-880+ printer atached on it. It will be referenced as W98.
When running the report from the WXP machine, directing the output to the W98 Epson FX-880+ it works fine: all escape sequences takes effect, the speed is good and the aligment is ok. But when running the same .rep report from the W2000 machine, directing the output to the same W98 printer, the escape sequences doesn't work and, worst, are printed. As a consequence of this, the aligment is wrong.
All of this was done to try to fix this problem:
1) The latest patch available for reports 6i is patch 15 which you can download from metalink -> patches -> Simple search -> patch number = 3171855. You can apply the latest patch and test (Raghavendra from metalink)
2) Apply the spool raw datatype workaround in Windows 2000, following these steps:
* Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Printers.
* Right-click the printer that you want to use and click Properties.
* On the Advanced tab, click Print Processor.
* Click Raw in the Default data type box.
* Click OK to confirm changes.
* On the Advanced tab, clear the Enable advanced printing features option.
* Click OK to confirm changes.

3) Edit the wide.prt file using dos edit instead of notepad, and using CTRL+P + ALT18 to obtain the ESC(18) character (just the same thing that was done in WXP machine) (From OTN Forum)

I'm replying my own question to inform what happens if anyone is facing same situation.
Initially thanks to Bob for your sugestion. It works! But not at first time.
I don't have administrator permission at the remote machine (W2000) to change the printer settings. So I made a request to the people who has. They made the changes, but the report still not working. After some tries we saw the reason: all the changes was for their user only. In my user this changes weren't active. So there are some things to check in this situation:
1) If you are not administrator, check if the changes made by another people are in effect in your account;
2) In some way your local printer definitons affects the remote printer (don't ask me why!!!), so check you local printer definition too.

Printing Character Mode Report On Oracle 9i AS - Application Server

Even though I have put this problem in Reports Forum,
I thought it fit to put forward this problem in Forms Forum
since Forms Forum is being accessed by a large number
of developers across the world.
Now the problem :
I have developed a report in Character mode that runs in
hundreds of pages. The output will be taken on High speed
Dot Matrix Printer since the client requirement is fast printing
& economical printing. That is the reason to develop this report
in Character mode & not Bitmap mode. This report works
fine in Client-Server environment.
However, the problem lies in the Web Server environment.
The same reports will be run on Oracle 9i AS. Since the
browser supports only HTML & PDF format, Character
mode reports faces a major problem.
Can anybody help me to resolve this problem ??
I would like to remind you again that the constraint is NOT
TO USE LASER PRINTERS.

URGENT: Problem in printing Character Mode Report in Chinese Version

I am working with Reports 6i. i have developed one Character mode report. This report is working and printing fine in Windows 2000 Server (English Version). But, this report is not working properly in Windows 2000 Professional (Traditional Chinese Version) where i have compiled report in Chinese Version Machine. And, i am getting the Preview properly. Main problem is at the time of printing. I am using EPSON LQ - 2070 Dot Matrix Printer.
Please help me on this issue.

Try printing to file first and ensure that the output is correct in something like "notepad" with the appropriate font.

please note that only specific matrix printers are supported for SAP Business One, for instance for 2007A those are: Citizen PROdot 300 and Epson FX-880.

How to print Individual mode and Collective Mode for Goods Receipt

Hi Friends,
Right now I am working on Smartforms on MIGO transaction.
My Client requirement is that all items that have been received should be printed on one form in
Collective mode.More specifically in the transaction MIGO only the items checked OK should print on
the form. It Should also allow the user to print Items in Individul mode.
Could anybody please specify on what basis( fileds ), I will be able to segregate the items.
how can I write the select stament so that when the user selects collective mode and accordingly
should print. same for individual mode.

In MIGO tcode you strcture like GOHEAD-XNAPR and GOHEAD-WEVER
if you check GOHEAD-XNAPR = X and select GOHEAD-WEVER Individual mode and Collective mode.....

SAP Smartform- how to print character '

In my Smart Forms, i have to print word " Customer's " . when Checking in the print preview it is showing good. but after converting the spool to PDF it is showing " Customer#s ". Please suggest how we can fix the same.

but sir problem is that when i print the report
G(use for bold)
is not working
means not print in bold format in printer

How to print a report in charachter mode in XP. In win 98 m/c it is working properly but on win XP m/c it always print character mode into graphic mode.

Hi,
This not a restriction of smartforms. It is possibly a desciption of the deviec type used in SAP. If you use a windows device type like SAPWIN, then graphic mode is always used. If you use a specific device type like e.g. EPESCP9 , then possibly the character mode is used.

Hi,
There are two ways you can print it. When you set the DES_TYPE system parameter to PRINTER, then that report gets printed on the Application Server. And If you use the Browser's print... feature, then that report gets printed on the Printer connnected to browser machine.

Oracle 6i report in character mode

we have been using oracle 6i report in Windows XP, our printer is attached to the said PC when we print character mode the print out is not in character mode but if we send the print-out in a printer attached to a PC using win98 the printout is perfect.

Character mode report cuts off last character on a line

Reports 9i, Windows 2003 Server. Printing character mode reports to IBM 6400 printer. I have a variable text column (multi line) and randomly the last character on a line gets cutoff. I'm using Courier 10 as my font. It is only 1 character that ever cuts cutoff. Any ideas? I'm desperate.

change the reports height& width for landscape /portait.
and go to edit margin in layout.
see the layout and move to left if it has lot of gap in left side.
we can get correct output if the right side border is upto 8.2.
try with this.
