How to print custom cropped photos in iPhoto
I have several photos (most actually) with custom cropping. When I use iPhoto to print to an 8x10 frame size on 8.5x11 photo paper, it just fills the space and cuts off the photo. Is there a "size to fit" option somewhere I'm missing so that the entire photo is displayed as cropped fully realizing this will not "fill up" the entire 8x10 space???
I'm wondering if you ever solved this within iPhoto? I'm experiencing a similar issue in iPhoto'11 (9.4.1). I have a series of square images. I want to print them as square images on 4x6 paper. I select my image and choose print from the file menu. I then get the iPhoto print dialogue which is completely different from the print dialogues used through OSX (10.7.4). Paper size selected is 4x6 borderless. Under print size I get only the options of 3x5, 3x2 and 2x2, and custom of course. The problem I have is that the image has been zoomed way in, as if iPhoto was printing a 12x12 inch image. I can find no way to zoom the image back out to constrain it print within the paper size. If I go to custom and set up 4in by 4in, then I do get a 4in square printing window, but the image is still zoomed way in. Additionally, the iPhoto print dialogues allow no access to adjust print settings for different paper types. After I send the image to print, another dialogue comes up which allows me to choose from all of my printing presets, but I can't adjust them. Pulling my hair out!

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork. Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary. Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto. From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

First off it would be good to learn how to use iPhoto - editing is one of the most basic operations - what version of iPhoto do you have? Have you watched the videos and looked in Help?
In general you select the photo can click edit - to straighten you use the "Straighten tool" - to remove areas around the photo you use the "crop tool"

To access your Mac iPhoto images for use in Photoshop and Lightroom
1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name] > Pictures > iPhoto Library.

My iMac lost all of the photos in the iPhoto library about 3 OSX updates ago (current system 10.9.1) but they recently appeared on my iPad. I have looked at all of the iphoto libraries on my iMac (3) and one contains 419 photos, one contains 3 photos and the main library has place holders with description information for 3741 photos but no photos. I have just finished one and changed the cover photo the same way I did on any page. Bring up the page, right click on it and then click on Remove Photo. Then just drag the photo you want into the empty space. You have to have the phot sidebar up on the right side to do this. Hope this helps
