How to print from iPad to printer set up with airport extreme

I was able to connect my printer to the USB port on my airport extreme and I was able to print fom my iMac the printer is online and I am sharing the printer on the network. However from my iPad when I click share then choose printer it searches for the printer but does not see it so I am not able to print from my iPad first generation any help I can use all the support please

This tweak of OS X 10.6.x might help you: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2658720?threadID=2658720&tstart=0
I've been using it with AirPrint since OS X 10.6.5 to connect with a WiFi-connected Canon Pixma MP560 and a USB-connected HP LaserJet 1320. (Haven't tried it with OS X 10.7 Lion, and no plans to upgrade.)
Also, check the App Store for apps from your printer manufacturer.
Apps such as Printopia and others are highly recommended and allow printing to a variety of devices, but I have not tried it.

  • Won't print from iPad - message: printer out of paper

I just bought an HP Envy 7645. I set up printing on my home network through my MacBook Air (Yosemite) computer and it prints fine from the computer. But everytime I try to print from my iPad, I have failed. Air print finds the printer on the network, and sometimes it has stated it was connected and sending the document to the printer, but nothing reaches the printer and nothing gets printed. But now when the print dialog appears it states that the printer is ut of paper - but there is paper loaded in the printer and I immediately am able to print from my computer. Now when I open the printer preferences on my computer,  it says the tray is out of paper, but then I can print from the computer without problem. How can I solve this? Now on the MacBook in the dialog box it claims it is out of paper, but then prints a document.I have not been able to photocopy.THanks for any help. I have spent a couple of hours setting up this printer and trying to make it work.

Hi Alameda, From what i understand is you are getting out of paper error message when printing from iPad using the AirPrint. Can you help me with the application from which you are trying to print. Is it a Photo or a document that you are trying to print. First lets do a sequential boot, Turn off your iPad, Router and Printer... wait for 30 sec and Turn it back on first Router, Printer and iPad.Open the input tray on the printer, make sure you have paper loaded correctly and the guides are adjusted appropriately. When closed you would get the change paper type message, make sure correct media is selected on both regular and photo tray.(If you just have media on regular tray, try to load something on phototray for testing)Try to Print and see if it works. If fails can you try downloading the HP ePrint from the AppStore and try printing with the same. Thanks...

  • How to print from ipad/iphone (printer=LPD)

    Hi!
The printer is connected to the network. LPD/LPR.
I have done the setup in my mac book and it is okay to print!
But i would like to print from iphone/ipad sometimes.
The problem: is it possible? if yes, how to do it? It seems quite different since i can't add a printer in iphone as it is in Mac
    Could so

Yes you can. All you have to do is to open the file then click the share button and choose print. However you have to make sure that the printer is connected to the same wifi as the ones in you phone/ipad. Plus, you can't save the printer to the phone, so you'll have to choose then and there. Furthermore, sometimes the IP address would just get messed up and thus, different IPs from the devices, would not print.

  • Can no longer print from IPad. Prints ok from MacBook pro. Any ideas?.

I am able to print from a MacBook Pro but I am no longer able to print from my IPad. Any ideas?

    Hi DanielBN,
I am glad that you are using an Hp ePrint printer, B210a.
I would suggest you to check the print center on your iPad and cancel jobs in the print center and then try.
You can follow the step bleow in order to cancel jobs on the iPad.
Click on the home key 2times.
It will bring up the apps you visited and it should also show print center.
Click on the print center and cancel the first job or all the jobs.
Then try printing from the iPad.
Do let us know the result.
    Thanks

  • How do I use more than one USB device with Airport Extreme?

I would like to plug a shared hard drive into my new airport extreme and still be able to plug in a shared printer as well. How am I supposed to do this with only one USB port. Do I use a USB hub???
Is it possible to connect a hard drive using one of the ethernet ports?

To use multiple USB devices you would use a powered USB hub.
You can connect a hard drive to one of the Ethernet ports providing the hard drive is a NAS and supports Ethernet connections. In that situation the NAS hard drive is just like any other Ethernet client and the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) does not handle the file sharing services. The drive itself would provide the file sharing services.

  • How do I fix my iPhone 5 wifi problems with Airport Extreme?

I have a 5th Gen Airport Extreme (AE) and an all Mac household.  We have iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.  Ever since I got the Extreme, my iPhone 5 will stop responding on the internet.  It still shows as connected, but nothing on the internet responds.  The immediate solution is to turn wifi on and off on the phone and everything immediately starts working again.
I believe it's started happening on the iPad 3 as well, but it's hard to tell if I'm just resetting it due to paranoia on unresponsive sites.  The AE is set to WPA2 Personal only, and both the 2 & 5ghz radios are set to automatic.  Also it's a/b/g/n (Automatic).
I've tried restarting everything multiple times, reset the AE from scratch, and done "Reset Network Settings" on the phone.  Nothing has been able to fix it permanently.
The irony is that I switched to the AE after a number of cheap wifi routers that didn't keep a signal.  Now I never lose the signal but it refuses to actually show evidence of routing the packets.
Any and all help is much appreciated!

I have gone through 5 iPhone 5 replacements and nothing has helped with this issue.  I just keep taking it back hoping for a good replacement. I finally got the attention of a district manager because of the amount of replacements I have had.  Also, don't believe the Geniuses. They tried to say I had my AE 5th Gen setup wrong when I followed Apple's recommended settings.  Then when I showed them the page, they said I was showing them a fake website.  It was the Apple Support page.  ***?!?

  • How can i connect my Panasonic Viera Link TV with Airport Extreme?

I use the Panasonic adaptor that came with my Blu-ray player. It worked with my Panasonic plasma TV when I used a NetGear router, but I recently changed to an Airport Extreme router and now neither the Blue-ray nor TV will connect. They find my network, but when I enter the password, after waiting a while, I get an error message that the network timed out. My iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro and MacAir all connect fine to this router from anywhere in the apartment. I am not using the wrong case when entering the letters of my password. It's exactly the same passsword that I enter on all my devices. Please help me connect the Panasonic TV to the Airport Extreme--I do NOT want to use ethernet. I want to use the wireless connection. Again--it worked fine withe the Netgear router, but does not connect wiht teh Airport Extreme.  Thanks!

Checking the specifications of your camera, I see it as a Firewire out .
DV:  4-pin, digital input/output, IEEE 1394 standard     (IEEE 1394 is Firewire)
So you should be able to connect it to your Mini via the Firewire 800 port.
You will need a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 cable because the Firewire on the camera is a 400.
But I couldn't fine any info that confirmed this model is compatible with iMovie if this is what you plan to use for editing.
There is a work around but it is not very easy.
Simplest way to import your videos is still Elgato video capture, but it will not give you the same quality as DV

  • How to take advantage of 802.11ac wi-fi with AirPort Extreme?

Greetings. I will be purchasing a new iMac that will support 802.11ac wi-fi and would like to take advantage of this by using the Apple AirPort Extreme but I'm not sure how. I currently have a modem (Cisco DPC3825) from my internet provider, which does not support 802.11ac. If I were to connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem (DPC3825) via an Ethernet cable and then (wirelessly) connect my new iMac to the netowrk, would I receive 802.11ac or just b/g/n still? In addition, when I connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem, will it create two networks (i.e. one network for the AirPort Extremem + my original wifi network) or can you merge it into one network? Hopefully what I'm asking makes sense. Thank you.

If I were to connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem (DPC3825) via an Ethernet cable and then (wirelessly) connect my new iMac to the netowrk, would I receive 802.11ac or just b/g/n still?
802.11ac would be received by the iMac if it connected to the AirPort Extreme wireless signal....and....the iMac was in close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
802.11ac uses the 5 GHz frequency, and these signals only work well then the router and computer are in the same room or have a line-of-sight relationship  to each other, or very close to that ideal.
In addition, when I connect the AirPort Extreme to my modem, will it create two networks
The AirPort Extreme will create a network with two bands or frequencies.....one  2.4 GHz for "b", "g" and "n" wireless devices and another band, the 5 GHz signal for "n" and "ac" devices.
If you assign the same name to  the AirPort Extreme network that you use for your existing network, and both routers are using the same wireless security settings and password, then everything will act like one "big" network.
If you assign a different name to the AirPort Extreme wireless network, then you will have two different networks....one produced by your existing router and the other produced by the AirPort Extreme.
If you move from one area to another, you will have to log off of one network and log back onto the other network.

  • Dual band set up with Airport Extreme "2nd Generation"?

I'm running an Airport Extreme as my Wi-Fi router. When I open Airport Utility it finds the Airport Extreme and calls it "Airport Extreme 802.11n 2nd Generation." I'd like to run this in dual band, since I have some older Airport Expresses that can't go 5Ghz. Is this possible with this unit? I can't find this unit on the Apple site, to get specs. If I can't run it in dual band mode, I end up changing the config every time I want to stream music to my older Airport Expresses. I get much faster Internet performance on my MacBook Pro when the Airport Extreme is set to 5Ghz.
Can someone list out for me the settings that I should use, to at least get the best performance out of this router, and my Airport Expresses. I have the Expresses set to "join a network" so they don't slow things down. Maybe that's not the right settings? My Apple TV, 2 Airport Expresses, iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro and wife's PC need to share this/these network(s). Any suggestions? Please be specific. Thanks.

When I open Airport Utility it finds the Airport Extreme and calls it "Airport Extreme 802.11n 2nd Generation.
This version is not a simultaneous dual band router.  You can run a 5 GHz network...or...a 2.4 GHz network, but not both at the same time. A simultaneous dual band version....3rd Generation AirPorts and higher....would allow the wireless router to provide both types of signals at the same time.
I get much faster Internet performance on my MacBook Pro when the Airport Extreme is set to 5Ghz.
That would be expected, since a good 5 GHz wireless connection will run...on average.....at 2-3 times the speed of a 2.4 GHz connection.
I have the Expresses set to "join a network" so they don't slow things down. Maybe that's not the right settings?
If these are older "b/g" versions, that is all that you can do.  Newer "n" versions of the Express could be configured to "extend" the network, providing more wireless coverage while running at higher "n" speeds.
Can someone list out for me the settings that I should use, to at least get the best performance out of this router
You already know that 5 GHz provides the 'best" performance for your Mac, but if you have older AirPort Express devices, they cannot connect at 5 GHz.  Neither can an iPhone or iPod, and probably the PC as well.
So, the best compromise on your current Extreme would be to use the default settings for 2.4 GHz, which would provide an 802.11 "b", "g" and "n" wireless signal....compatible with all of your devices. You may already be doing this.
If you decide to purchase a newer version of the AirPort Extreme, then you will have the benefit of being able to run both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz networks simultaneously....so everything will connect to the respective 'best" signal.
Then the current AirPort Exteme that you have now could be reconfigured to "extend" the network if you need more wireless coverage in another area. But...another compromise coming.....it can only "extend" one band...either 2.4 GH or 5 GHz, but not both.
Unfortunately, you would need another simultaneous dual band AirPort to be able to "extend" both bands.

  • How do I use a seagate external hard drive with airport extreme?

I have a 1tb Seagate external hard drive and I connected it to the USB port at the back of my Airport Extreme. I opened Airport Utility and am now lost. How do I access the hard drive?
(I have a Macbook Pro running os x version 10.8.2)

The external hard drive must be formatted either in Apple's HFS+ or in Microsofts FAT32 in order for it to be recognized. You can format the drive by connecting it to your Mac and bringing up "Disk Utility".

Thank you everyone. I figured it out. I thought that you can use regular paper to print pictures from photos on Ipad. This is not possible. I was able to use regular print paper to print from my mail. My problem is solved!!

  • How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer?

How can I print from ipad to non wireless printer.
....been trying to save document to pc to print.... but cant find a way to do so.....?

Actually you can print to a non wireless printer if you have apps on the iPad and your computer that will do this and as long as you can set up a WiFi network or the iPad and the computer are already on the same network.
I Am running an old OSX version on my iMac at work (Tiger OSX 10.4.11) and I have an app on my iPad called Save2 pdf. I downloaded a helper app on the Mac called WePrint. I do not have WiFi at work, but I create a WiFi network using the Ethernet connection to the Mac that my iPad can also join. As long as I can send the file/text/document to the Save2pdf app, I can print it on my old HP LaserWriter1012 which is not a wireless printer. This uses the Mac as the print server and the WePrint app on the Mac sends the doecument to the printer.
It's not a very elegant solution, and it is a little convoluted, but it does work.
