How to print on small cardboard card?

I have an HP 4525 LaserJet and am using windows 7.
I'm trying to print on a small cardboard card. Since the card is so small I am taping it to the center of a regular 8.5/11 piece of paper and feeding that through.
The result is the card in the middle:
The cards on the left and right I printed using an inkjet printer by comparision. As you can see there are two problems.
1) The top of the card seems to have been caught in the printer and the ink was smeard or had difficulty adhearing to the cards surface...
2) The font size is much thicker, I assume this is because the printer is somehow set to some kind of economy mode or is using a low DPI. I searched the settings on the computer but could not find any to improve quality...
Does anyone know how to solve either of those problems?

Hi largee,
I wouldn't recommend that you continue to tape the card to the regular paper.  There are multiple things that could go wrong and I think there is a better more reliable method.
The printer has functionality in it for automatically detecting media.  You can also set the media type specifically in the control panel when you load media.   Also, when the media type is correctly know, the printer will automatically select color tables that are optimized for that media type.
What I would recommend that you do is the following:
1) Purchase 8.5x11 sheets of cardstock that will allow you to print more than one card on the page.
2) Specifically, set Cardstock, if Cardstock defined the weight range that your media is in.
3) When printing, I would also set Cardstock in the driver.   You don't have to do this, but it is a good habit to be in for special projects.
4) In your app that is used to print, see if you can adjust it so that the images you are printing can print multiple on a single sheet.  Leave a little room at the leading edge just in case there is any leading edge damage, which since the printer will be running slower should be rare.
5) Print.
Regarding the font size....it is most likely a difference in how the InkJet vs. the LaserJet decided to implement the font rendering.   I would recommend you adjust the font in the app until you are happy with it on the LaserJet.  I don't believe there is a setting that would enable you to make the lines thinner.
Hopefull this is of some help for you.

  • How to print 4-fold greeting cards?

I recently upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.5 with the intent of using it to print one-off greeting cards -- NOT necessarily ordering them from Apple.
Most greeting cards programs I've used in the past allow you to print a card on one-side of one sheet of paper, then fold it in 4, so that it fits nicely in a 4x6 envelope. Not so classy, but easy and fast.
For the life of me, I haven't figured out how to get iPhoto to print greeting cards like this. Is there something obvious that I am missing? Other hints for making quick and easy cards with little printing fuss? Thanks in advance...
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I found some software that you can download called Easy Card that allows you to make your own cards or use there templates.
    http://www.scriptsoftware.com/ecc/
I just downloaded it myself as I was looking for a way to do it in Iphoto and as you found out there is no way to do it within Iphoto to print so you can do the four fold thing you talk about.
Anyways there software got good reviews and user reviews as well and I am still playing with it on the trial period right now!
I designed a Birthday/ St Patricks day invitation ( my 11 month old has his 1st birthday coming up on St Patricks day) and the easy card software works great in how it works with Iphoto and my clip art that I have. It has an OSX layout so I found using their controls pretty easy in order to get pictures and text and such into my card.
Check it out! It is a free download for trial and can be purchased for $30
I am just about to do it myself once I am satisfied with my first design!
I need to find more clip art though. Maybe they have more on there website once you purchase it!
Anyone know a good site to get clip art??

  • How to print multiple small pages on 1 sheet of paper without changing size

I have a document 85x110mm which I want to print *at exactly that size* 4 times on a sheet of A4 paper. I have duplicated the pages in the document (so there are 4 of them) and in print -> layout I can choose that they all go onto one sheet. BUT they get resized. In print -> paper handling there is an option 'destination paper size' (sounds hopeful...) where I can choose 'document paper size: letter' or 'scale to fit paper size: my custom 85x110 page'. The paper size isn't letter; it's 85x110mm; and my default paper size is A4. The first option seems to lay out the pages to letter, but resizes them anyway, and the second option lays them out to A4, but resizes them. Where's the missing function which lets me *keep everything at the correct size*?
Possible workaround: if I can lay out the 4 pages on one A4 page that would do - but I need to specify their exact layout in centimetres. I tried modifying a business card layout, but it seemed to want me to set the positions of every element in every card manually. I can't do that precisely enough.

    Hello
I know that Pages is using its own algorithm to resize pages when it put several of them on a single sheet.
This is why I use this tip.
I draw a rectangle whose size is supposed to be the final one.
I give it a white background and a black border whose thickness is set to one point.
For the tests I just insert three page breaks so that the document is a four pages one.
    I print it as is.
Doing that, I may measure the printed rectangle.
Of course, at first attempt it doesn't match the required size.
It's easy to compute the required adjustments.
When the correct factor is reached, it is easy to build the complete document so that it prints the correct size.
Doing that I never got odd results but maybe it's because I am a lucky guy.
Of course, disagreeing with one advice doesn't mean that I don't respect it.
I respect your opinion, _on other matters too_

  • How to print 4 12 index cards hp photo smart 50010

Thanks for your reply. :-) I can't seem to find the driver alone for that deskjet 450 because I have googled it and it gives me the wizard install but it always recognizes my actual printer and won't give me the 450 driver. then I found this download page http://www.driversdownloadcentre.com/hp-450-printer-driver-download/    that says its the driver but when I downloaded it,(the first one for windows 8.1 64bit) it gives me all these files that I have no idea what to do with them, unless they were actually already installed by clciking that .exe file which created a DJ450 folder with a subfolder inside called English and anothersubfolder that has 17 hp files with DL_, DA_,HL_, & EX_ extensions. So kinda lost here

  • How to print a greeting card

I used to print greetings cards on windows easily. I still don't know how to do it well on my MacBook. Can anyone te me how to print a folded card on a MacBook Pro using an HP color printer? On windows, there are direction on where to fold the paper so that you have a front, then open the folded paper to a message. It even let you put your own little hallmark-like logo on the back page.
    Thanks on advance.

You used a specialized program that did that apparently.
You can sort of mimic that using free drawing software like LibreOffice importing a picture, scaling it to fit a corner and creating text and rotating it and positioning it like so, then folding and trimming the edges, then lightly gluing it together.
    https://www.libreoffice.org/
There are rulers on the sides so you know where to place things and you can use a ruler when it's printed to find where to make the folds.
10.8 users, Right or control click on the program and choose "Open" to bypass security measures of Gatekeeper if you trust the source of the program.

  • How to print blank photo cards?

how to print blank photo cards?

Please specify what system, (OS X 10.?)
    hardware of the computer model...
and application you are using to print.
If you have an Intel based Mac built after 2006, you are in a pre-Intel forum.
PowerPC Macs cannot run an OS X newer than Leopard 10.5.8, in general.
And many newer applications need the Intel-based hardware, not PPC.
There are several ways of performing tasks, based on the software in use
and this changes when you may have posted in a different area than your
computer model, thus software suggestions based on this, may not apply.
As a user-to-user support community, we have no way to know what your
computer happens to be, its OS X, or the application you may be running.
Some photo card stock (paper) requires a maker's software, to set it up.
Without anything to go on, you could try an online search engine...
    Good luck!

  • Can't figure out how to print on the right side of a greeting card using a 5X7 when folded

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A.   I am trying to print a greeting card, but cannot figure out how to print on the right side of the paper so that it's on the correct side when folded.    The paper is 5X7 when folded, 10X7 laid flat.

    shgilljx,
Welcome to the forums. I will try to explain this in simple terms, and you'll have to play with it. We'll use plain paper, cut to 10x7. You'll need a marker, 4-5 sheets of paper.
Lay paper flat, number top 1, bottom 2. Flip paper over right to left. number top 3, and bottom 4.Draw a line where the fold would be on each page.1) Put paper with number 3 side up in printer.
To create both templates using MW Office, do this. The requires 2 documents. One is graphic, one is text.
Text template: The text will be printed on number 2.  That means your wording must be within the bottom half of the page.
Graphic template: The image must be rotated 180 degrees. The image must be within the top half of the page.
Print the text template. Insert side #3 into the printer. The text should print on side #2.
Print the graphic template: Insert side #1 into the printer. The graphic should print on side #3.
When folded, all should be correct, if I did it right.

I don't know if this is a Firefox problem so I ask, When printing how come it always prints so small I nearly need a magnifying glass? Is this caused by something else I may have set incorrectly? help please, from a very satisfied Firefox user

This only happens when I'm in my browser. Ex. when I'm on a site and I decide I like what I see and want to print it text that is, my printer always prints tiny. When I'm in Microsoft Word for ex. I print it and it looks like what I expect. So I don't know if somehow my printer got set to print tiny when on the web. If you can help me I would be most appreciative. Thanks again for your response.

I read your post about changing the printable area size, and I am honestly unsure if this can be done. I would suggest trying the HP Photo Creations software to see if you can change the area size. It could be worth a shot!

  • How to print an html report?

In a Test UUT's execution, the process model generates and saves a html report. How can add steps to the process model to print the report each time? I'm thinking maybe somehow using an ActiveX call to open IE and then print (1 step or 2?), but I'm a newbie to ActiveX and don't know what server/class/method to use.
    ==============================================

    ==============================================

Using Microsoft Word could be a good solution if you actually have it installed in the computer. In some cases, you may not want to have that application installed in the production floor for any reason (licenses, memory space...).
I am attaching an example that shows how to print the report automatically after testing a UUT using ActiveX to communicate with Internet Explorer. It is more likely that any machine would have this application installed since it occupies a lot less memory space and it ships with any Windows OS. Furthermore, there are just 3 steps that do the trick!
The attached zip file contains a modified sequential model. The entry points ("Single Step" and “Test UUTs”) have one new step that calls the "Print Report" sequence (also added to the sequential model). This new sequence has ActiveX steps that call two methods of the “Internet Explorer (IwebBrowser2)”object class exported by the “Microsoft Internet Controls” automation server. These two methods are:
    1) Navigate. Allows you to select the html file to load.
    2) ExecWB with the first parameter (cmdid) set to "OLECMDID_PRINT" (prints the loaded file) and the second parameter (cmdexecopt) set to OLECMDEXECOPT_DONTPROMPTUSER" (don’t show the print dialog).
(For more information about these methods, please refer to the MSDN Library)
The example will print the report after each UUT is tested. The "Print Report" step is set to run just if the Report Generation is not disabled (see its preconditions).
This is what you need to do to run the example:
    1) Copy the contents of the zip file to: \Components\User\Models\TestStandModels
    2) Make sure that the “User Components Directoty” is checked in the Search Directories.
    3) Run any sequence using Single Pass or Test UUTs.
WARNING: There is a known issue when using the printing capabilities of the Internet Explorer. This is what is explained in the MSDN library:
"... Internet Explorer prints in the background. This means that the print processing is actually completed asynchronously in a separate thread.Upon return from ExecWB, the print processing may continue for several seconds or even up to a minute or two based on various factors such as the size of the content and how busy your system is currently. The problem is that if you start a print job and then destroy the WebBrowser or close your application before the background thread finishes processing, the thread will abandon its work and the page may not be completely printed..."
There are 2 approaches to work around this problem:
    1) Use a delay before destroying the WebBrowser reference (which is done in the cleanup step group of the "Print Report" sequence in the example). This is the approached used in the example. The third step in the “Print Report” sequence is a Wait step. The step is currently set to wait for 3 seconds which has worked for me for almost any report sizes.
2)In Internet Explorer 5 you can work around this problem by sinking the OnAfterPrint event. If you have started a print job, then you should wait to release the WebBrowser until after this event has been received. If you choose this approach you could use the ActiveX events capabilities of Labview or Visual Basic to create a small program detecting this event. There's a simple sample code provided in the MSDN library for VB.
    Enjoy!
