How to print root directory of a drive to pdf?

Until the upgrade to Snow Leopard, I was able to drag the icon of a drive onto the Adobe Printer icon to generate a pdf file that would list the folder/file listing for that drive. I would then convert the pdf file via OCR and cut and paste it in an Excel file before moving the information into a data base.
The upgrade to Snow Leopard eliminated the Adobe Printer option because the postscript feature was no longer available through Snow Leopard. I am still using an older laptop which still can perform that function but I like to see if there are any functions witin Lion that will allow me to print the folder/file list from a drive to a file, which I can use in my excel spreadsheet. Or, if there are apps that will allow me to do so, I would welcome the information.

Normally you would use the Save As with TIFF or JPeg (I think AA9 now has an export option). If those are greyed out, then it is likely that no copying is set in the security and there is nothing you can do with Acrobat directly to get what you want. In directly, just print to paper and scan back in. As I said, the print permission will still not work with graphics or PDF output if the security for no copying or changing is set -- an obvious attempt to get around the security from the program viewpoint.

Unable to move events and projects to anywhere other than root directory on external drive

So I bought myself a nice, big, fat and juicy external RAID box and set about moving all my iMovie projects and events from my puny internal iMac drive.
I've tried to follow all the advice found on Apple Discussions concerning moving them from within iMovie by dragging to the new drive, but try as I might, I cannot find a way to drag to a sub-folder. iMovie INSISTS on putting my data into folders directly on my root, top level of the external drive. That seems rather ridiculous, considering that all I'm trying to do is recreate the "Movies" folder I had on my internal drive, which is nested within several folders itself.
Please, someone, tell me there is a way to tell iMovie to move the folders iMovie Drop Box, iMovie Events, iMovie Projects, and iMovie Sharing INSIDE a folder on my root called iMovie. Right now, they're sitting out in the elements on the top level, and my OCD is going bananas...

The iMovie Projects folder and the iMovie Events folder need to be at the top level of an external drive for iMovie to see it.
The iMovie Projects folder can have subfolders within it if you want.

"private" folder on root directory of hard drive???

Ever since I resored my system using TimeMachine I've noticed now I have a "private" folder on my hard drive that wasn't there before? Is it safe to delete it, because whatever it is, I don't want it where it is. - I want it like before when whatever "private" is was not there.
Any ideas?

Hi There
Under no circumstance should you delete the private folder, it contains vital operating system files. It is usually hidden by the system but for some reason it has become visible in the course of the Time Machine restore. You can use a utility like MacPilot to hide this folder again.

How to print a sytem profile report to a PDF?

I know how to get to the System Profile, but when I press print, it only prints the first page.
I know I can save it as a .SX report (or whatever the file extension is).
I want to print it to a PDF.
Once I get the .SX, can I open and print that file?

Files generated by System Information are XML files. They contain code, which needs to be interpreted by software to make it human-readable. Open the file with TextEdit or Xcode and you'll see what I mean.
You'd have to find a third party application that is capable of reading XML files, making them human-readable and allows you to print the interpreted version instead of the source code of the file. I'm not aware of any such software. Maybe somebody else here on the forums can tell you more.

How do I print one pdf which includes both legal and letter sized pages on the respective sized paper?
I purchased Brothers' HL-5470DWT dual paper printer for this specific task. The printer is configured to recognize the second tray (although the paper size is undetermined...) and the print setting includes setting the "Scaling" to "Fit to Paper Size".
Of course, the box is checked for "Choose paper source for pdf page size".
I should be able to configure my print settings and the printer should determine whether to print on legal or letter sized paper. I am using Windows XP sp3 and Adobe Reader 9.5 because I learned that Adobe Reader X was not compatible with dual paper printers. Brother's help desk referred me to Adobe... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

thanks for your reply. Initially the document should be open so that the user can input data into the form. But after the creater has finished his data input I would like to convert it to a static PDF so that the document can not be changed anymore. By converting it to a static document the document approvers will then also get the possibility to add comments.

Not sure if there are any examples. The Acrobat SDK is a must, but it is best treated as documentation to study rather than examples to copy. The examples only illustrate a tiny fraction of the capabiliies.
(One other note: the solution must involve the client owning Acrobat; Acrobat is not for server use).

This is smartform, and sending the output as pdf, except the the first page on which I have the text to be printed on the email body. In this email body text I have to display an email.
when user clicks on the email should open an outlook with the email id in the TO. Hope this helps.

JFileChooser hang when brosing root directory of Truecrypt Encrypted drive

I have been consistently having a problem with netbeans where if I try to browse to the root directory of my encrypted drive, it hangs for a long time (say 5 - 10 minutes). It then eventually comes back with the correct file choose dialog.
At first I thought this was just a Netbeans issues. However, I was also developing a Java Swing app (in eclipse) that uses a JFileChooser dialog. If I browse a standard drive I have no problems. If I then go to browse my encrypted file, I get this hang. When I compared the netbeans scenario with this, the only thing in common is that I was trying to browse my encrypted drive.
This only seems to happen when I want to browser to the root directory of this drive. If I am able to get the dialog to open (on a normal drive) and I directly enter a sub directory of the encrypted drive into the file name field, I can browse there without the hang.
So just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I know it isolated to swing JFIleChooser, to at least swing on Windows XP as I don't get this problem through the native file chooser, or through the native file chooser via SWT.
My drive was encrypted using Truecrypt.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for.
If you need the real roots, you can use this
File[] file = File.listRoots();
It should return the available filesystem roots.

I used Iolo to "clean" my hard drive, and now I can't access some websites, including facebook. How can I fix this? I get what looks like a root directory.

Root Directory is the top level of the drive.

Why are my render files in my boot drive/root directory?

I have configured FCP to use an external drive for my Scratch Disk to render Video Capture, Audio Capture, Video Render and Audio Render as well as the Waveform Cache, Thumbnail Cache and Autosave Vault. Plenty of room on it and for the most part, I see a lot of render files on it, just like it should do.
However, if I leave FCP running for a while, it will start to auto-render again and does so placing tons of huge files on my local boot drive right on the root directory under a folder called "Render Files". It ends up filling up my boot drive every time and need to delete them.
I have searched everywhere to find where to configure this to move it to my scratch drive, but no joy.
How do I get FPC to render these files on a non-boot drive scratch disk?

That's possible that's it going to sleep. But I don't think so. The problem happens when I let the editor sit too long without doing anything in it (get up for a cup of coffee, using another application to generate some text effects, etc). Then its starts rendering on its own and does so only with the local boot drive/root directory.
When it comes back, the "green line" (Preview Render) is gone and the lines are replaced with dark blue, which I think indicates the sequence was rendered in the highest possible res/codec I have selected. That's fine, but why does it insist on using the local drive when I have another specified?

How can i get also the files in the root directory and how can i for testing add items of IEnumerable FTPListDetail to List string ?

What i get is only the directories and files that in other nodes. But i have also files on the root directory and i never

Now the main problem is that when i list the files and directories and display them in the treeView it dosen't get/display
the files in the root directory. Only in the sub nodes.
I will see the files inside hello and stats but i need also to see the files in the root directory.
1. How can i get and list/display the files of the root directory ?
2. For the test i tried to add to a List<string> the items in var files to see if i get the root files at all.
This is what i tried in the CreateDirectoryNode before it i added:

What i mean is this. This is a screenshot of my ftp server at my host(ipage.com).
Now this is a screenshot of my program and you can see that in my program i have only the directories hello stats test but i don't have the files in the root: htaccess.config swp txt 1.txt 2.png....all this files i don't have it on my treeView.
What i want it to be is that on my program on the treeView i will also display the files like in my ftp server.
I see in my program only the directories and the files in the directories but i don't see the files on the root directory/node.
I need it to be like in my ftp server i need to see in my program the htaccess 1.txt 2.png and so on.
So what i wrote in my main question is that in the var files i see this files of the root directory i just don't know to add and display them in my treeView(my treeView is treeViewMS1).
I know i checked in my program in the method CreateDirectoryNode i see in the first iteration of the recursive that var files contain this root files i just dont know how to add and display them in my treeView.
On the next iterations when it does the recursive it's adding the directories hello stats test and the files in this directories but i need it to first add the root files.

Error when running captive runtime .exe from root directory of drive.

Platform: Windows
Specifics: Captive runtime desktop app using an ANE.
Problem: I am distributing the app on a flash drive. Ideally,the .exe will be on the root of the drive, so the user will not need to enter a subdirectory. I'm mostly concerned about users moving the software and getting frustrated by this error.
The error is "Adobe Air: The installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."
Here's an example. Importantly, this error only occurs when an ANE is included. I tried a few different ANE files created by others, and simply adding them to the project produces the error. I don't even need to use the ANE anywhere in my code.

This is a simple application with a few blank buttons. Try extracting in a subdirectory somewhere, and then moving to the root of a flash drive or any other drive. However, I don't recommend running code from strangers on the top directory of your C:\ drive.
Additionally, I installed Apache Flex 4.12 but the error persists. The text simply changed to "Initial content could not be loaded for this application. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."

I did some more testing. Same issue occurs if I create a captive runtime app from Flash Pro. It also happens when I use the Adobe Air installer, but install to the root directory.
Can anyone think of a workaround?
