How to print to video multiple sequences

I currently utilize FCP4 HD. How can I print to tape/video multiple sequences without nesting?
G4 Power Mac Desktop   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   FCP4 HD

David,
I respectfully disagree. I call 'nesting' the merging of all clips in a selected group into one quasi-clip (Sequence->Nest Items). Sort of like like merging layers in Photoshop with the difference being that in FCP you can still access individual clips or layers in a nest by double-clicking to open the nest in it's own Sequence.
You can apply a filter globally to a nest by dropping the filter on the nest - the filter will affect every clip within the nest. You can't do that with the copy & paste method.
The copy & paste method doesn't merge anything; all clips and layers remain as they did in the Sequence from which they were copied.
Calling that method 'nesting' would only serve to confuse people because they are two distinctly different actions and treated differently by FCP.

  • Can Print to Video HDV sequence

Hello, I am trying to export an HDV sequence to a miniDV tape for broadcast. I am using a Sony GV-HD700 tape deck. I am using Print to Video and it just wont work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I am having this same problem, and need help urgently. Does anyone know how to resolve this? I can control the deck through FCP and the FireWire cable, and can even initiate automatic recording from FCP, but once it starts playing the content the deck freezes and does not actually record anything.

  • Print to video / HDV sequence

I am about to export a hdv sequence to my z1.
I have to make a master tape for broadcasting.
I normally export my commercial hdv work to mpeg2 and make a dvd....
To make a master tape for tv broadcast I need to make a dv camtape.
How do I create a dv cam master with the right 16;9 aspect ratio and the leat quality loss?
I understood that I can not use edit to tape. So print to video is my only option....
I thought of first rendering the hdv sequence to an appropriate format.
Which format should I choose. Is pro res an option?
    Any expert out there.
    Advice hightly appreciated.
    thnx
    xx
    Jane

I think what you should do is put the HDV sequence in a DV sequence, then after rendering just lay it out to tape. You could also send it to compressor for the tranfer, but don't think there's much difference if any, in quality. It should end up letterboxed.

  • Printing To Video Nested Sequences

This is a basic question I'm sure, but I just need to know...
My first time nesting sequences. When I print to video, how do I make sure that only those nesting sequences get printed? In other words, on my timeline I have my 7 original sequences, and then a master sequence that contains all 7.
Am I correct that by opening that master sequence and then going about the print to video function, only that master sequence will print?

The master sequence will print with the nests that it contains. Make sure you render and mixdown each nest as well as the master sequence.

  • How to search markers from multiple sequences

I'm trying to figure out a way to search marker keywords from multiple sequences within a single PrProj file. I have several sequences imported into a single project file, and each of the sequences have several markers with keywords. Is there a way to search all the markers from all the sequences without having to select each individual sequence and search each one?

    Hi Charliepus,
Is there a technical reason why this fundamental feature is not available? a reason other than "because"? that's the reason I got from support chat. seriously, the lack of global marker search is like a dictionary out of alphabetical order.
I'm not sure the exact reason, but anything's possible with software. If you have a moment, feel free to create a feature request: http://adobe.ly/feature_request
I think it would be a great (if not necessary) update to this feature.

  • How To Print To Video?

I have a cheap PAl video camera I need to put my video on to submit to a Film Festival and when I capture through the camera (I shot the footage on a different PAL Camera)it captures but when I try to print to video it doesn't work. What can I do? Thanks!

    What seems to happen?
What camera is it? Try switching to FW Basic (not sure that really helps, but sometimes magically it does).
    Have you done this before?
Will it CRASH RECORD directly from the timeline?
OH -- here's an important question:
When you play the timeline with the camera connected... are you able to see it on the camera's display? (Make sure external video is set to ALL FRAMES (VIEW menu))

  • How to print pages from multiple pdfs

    Friends,
    I have two pdfs.
I need to print not all, but certain pages from both pdfs. How to achieve this.

    Options:
    1) create a new form, copy all the pages from your source pdfs into this one, use scripting to control the page appearance

    2) use the workaround to concatenate multiple forms and try to use the same approach to remove pages you don´t like

the camcorder seems to record the audio but it doesn't record the video.

you need a 24fps deck. Your camera is 30fps. the only deck you'll find will be the HDCAM that's $1000 per day to rent.

  • Problem with Print to Video in FCP 6.0

In the past I have been able to print to video with FCP 5, now not working with FCP 6. My Sony HVR A1U is seen by FCP, I can log & capture no problem. When I go to print to video, the sequence does not show up on my camera LCD and I cannot capture it. I have checked the system profiler and under firewire the camera is listed. In the print to video window I have checked Automatically Start Recording, but this has no effect.
    Thank you for your advice

Just curious. How do you get your computer too see the HVR. I am using I movie HD and it does not see anything. Is there a camera setup procedure? I looked at the vague manual which was no help.
    Thanks in Advance

I have tried to edit to tape and print to video a sequence (0my whole project, worked for way too many nights to let go... so frustrated and sad right now because it doesn't work.
The project is saved on an extern harddisk, my harddrive on teh pc is too full (not big enough).
My camera and FCP connects but all the time I get an error that 'the tape may be locked' . AND I HAVE TRIED WITH DIFFERENT TAPES, none of them were locked!
I am not really sure how to set the camera in this VTR mode... I have tried in the settings to set it in webcam mode... and I have tried without... and I dont have a button or setting called VTR, only a *PLAY' option or a 'FILMØ option....
My A/V settings are FireWire PAL and DA PAL 48khz ... however have no ide what that means or if these should be changed...?
I checked from apple but cannot find my DV cam on the list... hmm, does that mean I cannot do edit to tape recordings???
    My Dv cams informations:
    NV-GS140 by Panasonic, Model 0x80330B, 0x804580114B5DD1
I checked the system settings and was able to the FireWire/NV-GS140 Unit
    I have a MacBook1,1 / Intel Core Duo/ 2 GHz
    OS 10.4.11
I use the version FCP 2
Please help me out, I am really without any good suggestions how to proceed!

You're going to have to use a dvd authoring program. Burning the seq to a dvd qill just create a qt movie on a dvd data disc. It won't create a dvd video disc that plays in a dvd player.
Export from fcp a QT movie, current settings, self-contained. Use Anamorphicizer (http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Video/Anamorphicizer.shtml) to make imovie recognise it as 16:9. Then import that file to idvd.
Or you can drop your 16:9 sequence into a new 4:3 sequence to letterbox it, then you can do the export as above but skip the anamorphicizer step.
It's better to use compressor on the original 16:9 sequence and then use dvdsp to author, but if you've never used dvdsp it's a big program to get your head round.
    The export can be done in two ways;
    1. Export from fcp using 'export using compressor'.
    2. Export a QT ref/self-contained movie and import that into compressor.
    3. Export a QT movie and import it direct into DVDSP.
The second option will take longer initially (if you use the self-contained option) but will then allow compressor to work in the background, the first option will tie up fcp for the duration of the encode.
Once in compressor use one of the 16:9 dvd presets, depending on the duration of the movie and the quality you want. Don't try to adjust the settings. If your movie is 31 mins just use the shortest option (i think it's 60min) and make sure you select the m2v video and ac3 audio options. If you just select the mpeg 2 video you'll only get video, as you've discovered.
Open dvdsp and create your opening menu and a video track, import the movie file, add it to the video track, and then add the audio to the track as well. Then add any chapter submenus you may want.

  • Print to Video question

    Hi,
My edit sequence in FCP is 720x486. I went ahead and black & coded a DV tape to the same resolution. Now, when I try to do a Print to Video, I only get the audio outputted, and not the video! Not sure what is going on. Can I not output a 720x486 sequence to a DV camera?

    G4 Dual 533   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

The issue is that I cannot render this file, since it has a Line21 information (Closed Captioning). Rendering it will get rid of that stream.
I created a 720x486 sequence in FCP, brought in my 720x480 DV video, overlayed my Line21 movie on top of it (which is at 720x486).
We were told by MTV that they need a Beta SP tape, so I was hoping I could just Print to Video the sequence on a DV tape, and then hand that off to someone to dub to Beta SP. I guess that was very naive of me.
Do I have to just go straight to a Beta SP deck from FCP??
    Thanks;

  • How to setup Compressor to create video from multiple sequences within FCP?

I am wondering how I can set compressor up to create videos from multiple sequences within FCP. When I click file -> export - > compressor for a sequence and go into the program, it doesn't allow me to go back into FCP. I just get a spinning beach ball. Is there no way to set it up so I can prep a bunch of fcp sequences within compressor and then click submit and walk away? I have over 100 sequences that need to be exported so it would be a little difficult to do this one at a time. Thanks.

    Batch processing
*Step one. Make sure everything in every sequence is rendered.*
*Step two. Make a folder somewhere and name it something relevant.*
*Step three. In FCP select all you sequences that you want to compress and right click (option), choose Batch Export from the contextual menu.*
*Step three point one. In the batch export window click on settings and choose the folder you made in step two for the destination. Make sure Make Self-Contained is not check and include Audio and Video.*
*Step four. Click export in the batch window.*
Once that is done you can close FCP.
    Now in Compressor
*Step five. Make a setting that will give you the output that you want (mpeg2, AC3, h.264, whatever). Make a destination for where you want to save the output.*
*Step six. Make a droplet from the settings you made in step five.*
    You can quit Compressor now.
*Step seven. Take the files that you batch exported from FCP in step three and four and drop them on the droplet you made in step six.*
