How to properly uninstall mac games?
Namely World of Warcraft? New to macs and not sure how to formally uninstall stuff. Thanks.
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:

I need to reinstall the game for it to work, but I can't figure out how to uninstall the game to begin with. I know that in Windows, there is an "Uninstall" option, but I have found no such option on the Macbook.
This is one OS X's few weak spots. For most software, it is sufficient to drag the application out of the Applications folder and into the trash. Of course, this does not delete its preference files, etc, but these are usually pretty small, and can either be left in place or deleted separately.
Some software might ship with a separate uninstaller utility that you can run. Sometimes, the package installer can also perform uninstalling, too.
You can buy general purpose uninstaller utilities, but as far as I know they won't work for software already installed; only for software installed once the uninstaller is in place.
Perhaps the safest option is to contact the company that made the game and ask them how it should be uninstalled.

How do I uninstall "IWON" Game Toolbar ?
I wanted to check on free crossword puzzles on the "IWON" Game site. When I downloaded the info, the "IWON" Toolbar was appended underneath my Firefox tool bar. I did not download the games or register for this site. The instructions to uninstall the tool bar are listed on the IWON Home page. However they are outdated for Macs, and I want to get rid of the IWON tool bar from my computer.
Trash the following items from your home folder,
Library/Application Support/TelevisionFanatic
Library/ScriptingAdditions/TelevisionFanatic.osax
and empty the Trash.

How to properly uninstall Classic?
I searched & came up w/ a couple threads that say to just drag the OS9 System folder to the trash & reboot, but when I try to do this I get an error message saying it's not possible because it's "required by the system". Also, ppl were saying to CMD+click & drag the Classic icon off the menu bar, but I don't see it anywhere to begin w/...... This whole process seems really sketchy, is there a more legit way to do this? There's no actual "uninstall"? I just needed to run one OS9 program for a short amount of time on my G5 & don't anymore so i'd like to get rid of it & free up some space...
Open the Classic preference pane in System Preferences and be sure you have Classic turned off.
Open the System Folder and drag the Finder and System file to the Trash. Restart the computer. After the restart drag the System Folder folder, Applications (Mac OS 9) folder, and Documentation folder to the Trash. Empty the Trash.

I installed os x lion on my macbook air (2-mos. old) & realized after this that I cannot run my microsoft office. I need to uninstall this lion and go back to snow leopard. Does anyone know how to do this? Reinstall drive does not work for some reason and my snow leopard disc does not either (had this for another computer). I cannot use office 2011, because it wont work with my 2007 exchange server at my business.
thanks,You cannot use a gray disk from a different computer. Those are specific to the machine they shipped with. If you no longer have the SL disk that you used to install the system on your computer, you will need to purchase one in order to downgrade to SL. There is no way to downgrade without one, unless you have a bootable clone of the system from before you upgraded.

Hello there. I was used to win xp where there was a unistall button for almost every program you downloaded but seems like mac doesn't have that. I need to get rid of a couple programs from my computer and would like to know the best way to uninstall them so no files from the program remain.
Is it as simple as drag and drop to the recycle bid?

You would have to erase the drive and install an earlier version or restore your backup. Or you could give this a try. Be sure the applications with which you had problems have been upgraded for Mavericks.

Try these in order:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

Looks like the restrictions for app installation are active. Disable them in Settings/General/Restrictions, to be able to install and remove apps again.

I had a previous post as well but I just want a fresh start on uninstalling and reinstalling. When I followed the steps and then opened itunes it had my previous library there even after I deleted the itunes folder from program files.
I've had Itunes forever now and it's been fine. With this last upgrade, it's created some problems. Half of my new playlists created have disappeared. The music is still there in the library, just the playlists are gone which was enough to fill a 60 gb ipod. Itunes now reads at the bottom I have 1022 GB of music - my hard drive is 250gb so that's obviously incorrect. My iphone will not recognize my calendar or my contacts in Office 2003 with all updates - so basically it's hosed. Someone had given me a link to uninstall it which I did. I restarted. Then I uninstalled apple mobile something or other and restarted. Then I deleted the itunes folder from program files emptied recycle bin and then restarted. I then proceeded to re-download and install itunes. I went through the hour process of uninstall and restart then install. I get everything finished and open itunes expecting to see a fresh clean slate and it's exactly the same. The following will work for everything EXCEPT music that was obtained from some place other than the iTunes Music Store. If that is your situation, post back before you proceed.
Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
If things go wrong and you lose your apps, music, movies, etc. this is "Plan B." -

I am trying to install SCVMM 2012 R2 on a machine that previously had an earlier version of SCVMM installed (removed using Add/Remove programs). However the installer is failing with error Note: 1: 1729 Product: Microsoft Web Deploy 3.5 -- Configuration
Failed.
There is also, "Determined that existing product (either this product or the product being upgraded with a patch) is installed per machine" in the log file.
Does anyone know what registry settings need to be removed in order to fully clean out the old install?

AndyYou should first remove old SCVMM from SCOM. Then unistall VMM agents from every node in yoyr infrastructure.
And only after that you can uninstall VMM from server and drop DB from SQL Server.
When I updated from SCVMM 2012 SP1 to R2, I did it simply:
I created new server, install VMM and took my Hyper-V clusters from old VMM. Then I uninstall VMM from old server and destroyed it.

With my new HP desktop I got a 30 days free trail for the McAfee LiveSafe Internet security. I would line the correct procedure for uninstalling this product so I can put back my Norton Internet Security program instead.
I would think going to the control panel and selecting the uninstall option should do the trick. I always suspect the easy way is not always the right way

You can use the Uninstall or change programs in the Control Panel. However, here is a program that I used for years that does a more complete job. It removes all of the program from the hard drive and all remnants from the Registry, as well. I use the Advanced option. I suggest using the Custom install so you can check to see if the installer is installing programs that you don't want on your computer.
