How to protect a pdf file by a password
Hi,
I have written a program to send payslip through email . This mail sends the payslip as a PDF attachment.
I want to password protect that PDF document, so that it asks for a password before being opened by the employee.
Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Domenico.
Hi
You can get the idea by having a look on these links.

How to protect a pdf-file in a pdf-portfolio against extraction?
How to protect a pdf-file in a pdf-portfolio against extraction?
You can't.
Portfolios are just a single-page document with a bunch of attached files - the act of opening one of those attachments is identical to the act of "extracting" it into a new document, so blocking it would stop the Portfolio from working. -

How to email a pdf file (attachment with password) using ABAP?
Hi Colleagues,
I
n abap, how do you email a pdf file that contains password?
(pdf with password, not the whole email).
A custom program is created. Inside this program, it
retrieves the spool number and converts it to a pdf file
(using function module '....abapspool...'). No parameter to put password.
I was able to do the above. The problem is how to put password on
the pdf file.
Once the user receives the email (say from hotmail or outlook) with pdf attachment, clicks on the pdf, it will as ask for an attachment.
sap version 4.7.
Questions:
- how to code in ABAP to include the pdf with password in an email
received from hotmail or outlook?
- any function modules or classes that can do the pdf password?
- do we need to install another technology or add-on application or
???? to do it? If yes, do we code in abap?
- any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

How can i remove the protection in Pdf file
how can i remove the protection in pdf file so i can convert it to word
You can't remove password protection (if that is what you are talking about) using Adobe Reader. That would require Acrobat.

How to passw protect my pdf files generated by Adobe Acrobat?
I simply want to passw protect my pdf files generated by Adobe Acrobat. However the option as indicated by the helpdesk is not available in my pdf generator. I am working with apple? Can someone tell me how to pass protect my files?
Can some one help me out here?Hi josr,
You can password protect your files in Adobe Acrobat by choosing File > Properties when you have the PDF open, and clicking the Security tab. Here is a Help topic that goes into detail: Acrobat Help | Securing PDFs with passwords.
If you don't have Acrobat, you're welcome to give it a try! Feel free to download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

How do I password protect a pdf file - getting error messages?
I'm trying to protect a pdf file (i.e. a tax return printed to PDF) with password to open and password to modify. However I'm getting an error message in a pop up window saying..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder." I'm using WIN 8.1. and I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (student / teacher version). This is a standalone PC so I can't imaging someone else is using this file. Also I've tried renaming and saving to a different folder (from the folder the original file is saved). I've also looked at properties of the PDF file and its not tagged as read only. Please advise if I'm missing something. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for responding...I'm getting the same message that I got at first..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder."
The next day I emailed the file to my work PC and encrypted it with no problems. I have WIN 7 and am using Acrobat 8.0 there. So the problem seems to be with my new PC here at home (i.e. WIN 8.1 and Acrobat XI). Frustrating. I'm betting its some obscure setting in WIN or Acrobat, that is way over my head. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again.

You will havwe to sign up for some service that supports rights
management, use protected PDFs via LiveCyle/ Acrobat Connect or learn how
to create your own ePub stuff using Digital Publishing Suite. In any case,
it will probably cost you money upfront before you make any revenue.

SAP version 4.7 Email pdf file that is password protected.
Hi Gurus,
We have a requirement:
Email pdf file that is password protected.
Once the user receives the email, clicks on the attached pdf file,
it should ask the password. Note that Password value should come from SAP.
What we have done is get the spool number and by using function module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF, it converts the spool document to pdf.
On this function module, there are no parameters to make pdf as password protected and
also include the password. This is the problem.
Question:
(a) Is there a way to make pdf password protected that will be emailed?
What function modules, etc to be used? (sample coding if available)
(b) Somebody mentioned the that Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server should be installed together with SAP.
If this is installed, how then would be the abap coding be in order to make the pdf password
protected?
How is the new policy server gonna be linked to SAP and how do the abap coding gonna be?
(sample abap coding if available)
Thanks.
Raymundhi,

Hello, I am trying to send an email where the recipient opens the PDF file with a password, can anybody show me how to do that
Hi surez,
To password protect a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.
In Acrobat, you choose File > Properties when the document is open, and then click the Security tab to set up a password.
Please let us know how it goes.

How do I save PDF files by default to the folder of the source file?
How do I save PDF files by default to the folder of the source file with Acrobat 9.0.0 Standard?
I am not seeing that behaviour. If I right-click a link to a .pdf file, I get the file saved with the original filename.
Maybe one of the settings in about:config controls that?
pdfjs.previousHandler.preferredAction is a setting that has a value of 4 with my setup. I have no idea what that means, and I could not find any explanation anywhere. You could try using different numbers for that value and see if any make any difference. Why has nobody bothered to explain that setting anywhere? -
