How to protect an area in a chroma key?

Hi Folks,
I'm having a bit of a problem performing a key on a section of footage. There's an article in the foreground that unfortunately is the color of the greenscreen (bluescreen actually). Is there any way to 'protect' that area so that the chroma key filter doesn't affect it? The closest solution I've come up with is to duplicate the section of footage and move the copy to the next higher video track, then use a shape mask to frame the small section that is problematic. This works for the most part except that during the cross dissolve at the beginning and end of the clip. During the dissolve you can clearly see the shape of the mask as it doesn't 'dissolve' at the same rate as the dissolve on the underlying original clip.
I would imagine that there has to be a simpler way to accomplish this, but it's eluding me.
Thanks,
Chris

If you have to dissolve between composites, which is what you're creating with holdout and edge mattes and keys, you have to merge all the layers into one and then you can apply those transitions. You need to either key all the video you're using, export animation + which will maintain the alpha and edit into your sequence or export selects to Motion with sufficient handles for your dissolves and then import those Motion projects back into FCP.
You could create sequences of any selects, do the key in FCP with your mattes, import those sequences into your master which would also take care of any dissolves. However, Motion has a superior keyer and matte tools over FCP.
At any rate, this involves some organizational strategy over just applying a keyer to a layer in FCP.

  • Protect an area

How to protect some area in the Illustrator from changes? Like Photoshop does.
What I mean is: In the Photoshop I can select some area with Selection tool, let's say a rectangle. Then I can edit that area without a risk to harm any pixels outside it. I can apply any filter to it (blur, etc.), I can fill it with some colour or pattern. And the area outside the selection will be unchanged.
I can not find any way in the Illustrator to do the same or even a similar thing! I can isolate some object or group. but I can not isolate an area/region.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

First of all, using a mask is a workaround in such a case. For example, if you make an illustration to sell it at "stocks" like shutterstock or fotolia, they require those parts to be deleted, not just masked.
But I do not understand, why can "raster eraser" be "straight", but the "vector" one can not.
For example, there is the Area Type tool. I can draw a rectangle and type some text inside it. And the text will not go outside the rectangle. It has a "feeling of bounds". Why the eraser and kife do not have it? What about a brush limited by some area? I see no reason why it is not possible.
Or, let's say, the Sprayer. It creates lots of symbols and they are distributed in some way. But I can not select some area to fill it with symbols. Tell me: Why can I fill some area with a font, but acn not fill it with symbols? Why can not I fill it with some other objects?
Oh, yes, I can move the objects manually to distribute them in some area. And spend a couple of hours. But the Illustrator can not distribute them for me. Why?

  • Chroma Key with live footage.

I was wondering if any one knows how to use a camera to do chroma keying with a live feed. We want to make it look like the person is stand some where else live. Simalar to do the weather.

You need an external keyer. On the cheap side, there are things like the Videonics MX-4 SEG switcher, and, of course, the sky's the limit on the other side.

Then import the html file into firefox using the instructions in the [[Import Bookmarks from a HTML file]] article.
    Does that fix the problem?

    Hello Happyman,
<b>What do you mean by Protect Table, Program and Report?</b>
Let me ask you one base Question, On which area are you working? Are you from functional side or Technical side (Developement or Basis guy)?
This is very clear cut answer that with the restricted autorization you can protect table and programs. Do not provide the change autorization.
CATCH your BASIS guy and he will do rest of the things. Just explain him what are you want to protect.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to protect the lines in smartforms

    hi gurus

    regards
    baskar

    Check this link.
    http://www.saptechies.com/smartforms-protect-lines-in-main-window/
if you are using tables, there are two options for protection against line break: – You can protect a line type against page break. – You can protect several table lines against page break for output in the main area.
Protection against page break for line types – Double-click on your table node and choose the Table tab page. – Switch to the detail view by choosing the Details pushbutton. – Set the Protection against page break checkbox in the table for the relevant line type. Table lines that use this line type are output on one page.
Protection against page break for several table lines – Expand the main area of your table node in the navigation tree. – Insert a file node for the table lines to be protected in the main area. – If you have already created table lines in the main area, you can put the lines that you want to protect again page break under the file using Drag&Drop. Otherwise, create the table lines as subnodes of the file. – Choose the Output Options tab page of the file node and set the Page Protection option. All table lines that are in the file with the Page Protection option set are output on one page

How to protect a pdf-file in a pdf-portfolio against extraction?

    You can't.
Portfolios are just a single-page document with a bunch of attached files - the act of opening one of those attachments is identical to the act of "extracting" it into a new document, so blocking it would stop the Portfolio from working.

  • How to protect a text from line break in smartforms

    Hi Gurus,
How to protect line break in a text element of smartforms. Text in that line is printing exactly 70 characters. I want the text to be printed fully till the size of the window.  How to stop this automatic line break.
    Regards,
    Rithika.

What I have done may be helpful, so here are the details:
I had a table of text values, so I converted this to a string with concatenate, then string to a long character field, then used RKD_WORD_WRAP to put into table of 132 characters.  Then I constructed a table of type tline by looping at my RKD_WORD_WRAP output,  and utilized SAVE_TEXT to temporarily store a TEXT entry, like you would save with SO10, saving my desired paragraph format into TDFORMAT field and inserting any necessary character format commands into the text.
In my SmartForm, I then have dynamic text processing pointing to the internal table fieldnames containing tdname, tdid, tdobject, tdspras of what I saved.  This allows SmartForms to utilize the full width of the window and optimize text output, based on window width, font, scale, paragraph format, character format, etc.  These text identifier values are passed as part of my internal table via the SmartForms interface.
At the end of SmartForms processing, I loop at my internal table and utilize DELETE_TEXT to remove the temporary texts that I created for this set of output.
To avoid page breaks in my text, I put my output for a "block" of data into a folder (see the SmartForms folder feature).  I have page protection on the folder...that way, SmartForms examines the length of the folder content and decides whether a page break should occur before any output for my block of data begins.  My block of data contains a few data elements over 5 rows of output followed by two separate dynamic texts of various lengths.  If the entire block won't fit on the remaining part of a page, page-break occurs first.

  • How-to protect static content

    Hi !
I have a site with many files (pictures, XML files, etc)
How can I protect those content from unauthorized access / sniff ?
I was thinking in two options
    1) a filter servlet, validating sessions permissions etc
    2) a servlet to write out the files (...)
    Any other suggestion? best practice?
    Regards
    Joe

Actually yes each server has its own realm implementation but it is all configured and handled by the server and does not affect the portability of the application.
How to protect the static pages is dependant on how you allow access to your web application.
If you don't have any security in the web app you then put any files that you don't want accessed in the browser in the WEB-INF folder. Images and other files that are accessible in the browser you put in folders with an index page to prevent users from seeing the directory structure.
If your application uses server managed security you include you use this security to manage access to the files.
If you are using application based security then you go with a filter.

How to protect my Apple Mac from computer viruses, malware & phishing?

Unless you are running a Windows partition, you do not need to be concerned about viruses. As for malware and phishing, good internet browsing habits, and using common sense when downloading software that is not from the App Store will go a long way to preventing those types of issues.
There is a lot of disagreement among the Community members concerning the prudence of installing any sort of AVP. As white_bellied shows above, it can slow down your machine.
I do not have any sort of AVP running on my Mac, and I have never had any issues with malware or phishing.
There are many discussion about AVP on the forum. If you do a search for Anti-virus, you will be able to see some of the opinions and discussions that may help you to make the best decision for you.

How to protect my apple macbook pro screen??

There are screen protectors you can purchase...You can find them online or in stores, but the cheapest place you'll probably find one would most likely be eBay.  However, under normal use, as long as you don't do a lot of touching or scratching or any other abuse to the screen, it should be okay.  Not being a touch screen, there really shouldn't be a whole lot of screen damage going on.  I don't personally use them, because I don't touch the whole screen a lot so I can't really tell you which ones would be better than others, but whatever ones you get should be okay as the screen isn't going to be handled a lot and just having something on it to take the scratches and let you remove it and remove the scratches with it would basically protect the screen so shouldn't make a whole ton of differences...However, you want to make sure you don't get any that are going to leave behind sticky residue when you remove them as this would then cause more problems then you would have if you didn't just put one on.
