How to protect JSP source code on the Server Side ?

I am new on JSP. I Already know about various Web and Desktop technologies but is the first time on JSP. I know ASP for example.
Well, about .NET platform, it protects my source code on the server, the source code is compiled and on the server, only the compiled file are installed, my source code stay with me...
About JSP, how it works about ? Is possible to hide my source code too ? What the technique to hide the codes ? I need to prevent access to my source codes...

About .exe files, do you know if a java class is more easy or dificult to do reverse engineering ?Depends on who your enemy is. If it's for example a hacker with a lot of C knowledge but zero of Java knowledge, reverse engineering .exe would be easier than .class. If one was interested, one would always take time to learn how to decompile the one or other. Making files secure is a waste of time. It's always "hackable".
If there was a proof of concept, no one major software vendor would have had so much problems with piracy and cracks/keygens. Think about it once again. It's simply impossible. Just have a clear EULA and actually make work of it whenever you discovers if someone breaks your EULA.
I was thinking about, the .JSP can be converted to servlet .java, and converted to .class, this way hide the source code.Once again, one could still decompile it (or reverse engineer, so you call).

  • How to reveal JSP source code

I was just wondering if the source code of a JSP page can be viewed any way?
The JSP gets translated to a servlet, which pretty much generates HTML and only that is visible to the client browser but is there a way around it?
E.g. would be secure/suicidal to include usernames and passwords to the JSP source code?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

The HTML delivered will contain only the output from JSP execution -- you're safe there.
Every JSP when it is compiled produces a .java file that contains that actual servlet code. There is a risk of a user finding that and downloading it. To avoid this, you want to do one or more of the following:
    1. Turn off the server's retaining of this .java file (it's basically a debugging tool).
    2. Ensure that the .java files are created in a directory that is not accessible via the browser (i.e. outside of docroot).
    3. Apply file system permissions to the directory the files are created in such that they cannot be accessed from the web.
#1 and #2 should be pretty easily configurable in your application server's settings. #3 is trickier, as you have to set the permissions such that the server can access them, but a web user can't.

  • How can I disable excel addin on the Server side?

Hi, is there any way to disable excel addin on the server side?
We want to disable it so that no one can modify or read data in the cube in the production environment, even if he or she had installed the add in. Instead, we provide the Planning data forms as the only interface for end-users to read and write. we do this because the add in is very easy to install and users can read and write data in the cube at their will.
As we designed to keep the security filters simple, it is not a good idea to controll data access through security filters.
so, what i'm asking is how to disable excel addin on the server side?
    Thank you for replying.

    Hi,
As Gurus suggested, you will have to restrict viewing of data through dimension level security.
Give access of members to users, only which are relevant to users so that they can't view other user's data/members.
Like give access of members belonging to HR dept only to HR users and give access of Finance dept related members to finance users only.
Hence HR users will view only HR relevant data and won't be able to view (read or write) finance related data and vice-sa-versa.
    Hope this helps

  • Is there any differnce between the Numeric Limit Test source code from TestStand 3.0 to TestStand 3.1? How to get the source code for the Numric Limit Test for both the versions?

I need to know the differnece between the Numeric Limit Test between the TestStand version 3.0 to 3.1. If there is any differnec in the source code how to find it out? If somebody has the code can you share it?
    Thanks,
    Jeyan

    Hi,
I don't believe there are any differences between the two versions. But you can check the source code for the Numeric Limit Test in TestStand\Components\NI\StepTypes\CommonSubsteps. But the main part of the step is the Code Module and this bit the users supplies this.
    What has prompted this question?

In our system in blank too.
This is a RFC it means that others systens connect into this FM and it means that the implementation must be in the FM not in the other system.

  • How to get the HTML Source code from the active browser ?

    Hi All,
I need to get the HTML Source code from the active browser (IE). I tried with the below code, but I am not able to get the Source code all the time, with respect to the different applications (http or https) and the user authentication has to be changes in few applications (_I dont know or not able to given that in the below code_). More over there is also a dependence of the URL to get the HTML Source code.
Therefore what I feel is getting the HTML Source code from the given or active browser will be consistent than the URL. Since the Source code is available in the browser (IE) . Please help me with a sample code to achieve this . . . !
    HTMLDocument doc=(HTMLDocument) kit.createDefaultDocument();
    doc.putProperty("IgnoreCharsetDirective", Boolean.TRUE);
    URL url = new URL(strURL);
    Reader HTMLReader = new InputStreamReader(url.openConnection().getInputStream());
    kit.read(HTMLReader, doc, 0);Thanks in advance,

The simple answer is: you don't.
Not only is it simply not possible, but the entire concept of "the active browser" doesn't exist.
You were on the right track with your code to retrieve the page directly from the server, but as you noticed that code will only work for regular http connections.
For https and other protocols you will need to use appropriate libraries for each protocol. Something like Apache Commons can help you with that. There are networking libraries in there for a lot of commonly used protocols.

  • OIC: Need to find the Source Code for the YTDSummary.java file

    Hi All,
We have 11.5.10 implemention and we are using the OIC(Incentive Compensation) Application. In the Report Module for the Year-To-Date Summary we need look for the Java Source Code. The cnytdsum.jsp file call the YTDSummary.java file. We have teh following question
    1. How we can get the Java Source Code and where and which directory we need to look into?
    2. Let say if we need to customize the java file how we can do that?
    3. where and which directory we have to complie the java file?
    Highly appreciate for any pointers
    Thanks,
    Johnson.

But those must be platform dependant, not really that
interesting to look at. I have never felt any need to
look at those at least.Wake up and smell the coffee, abbie! I read the source code all the time and constantly tell my students to do that, too.
    1. Java source code is not platform dependent. The original poster wanted to look at linked list code, how could that be platform dependent?
    2. It is the implementation of the SDK APIs, so by definition it is implementation dependent code, liable to change in a later version. So don't assume anything beyond what is claimed in the API documentation. However, sometimes the documentation is incomplete or ambiguous to you, and reading the source can provide some insight, however implementation dependent. (Light a candle or curse the darkness.)
    3. Why read source code? It's a good way to learn how to program. You see something in the API and ask: how'd they do that? Or you realize you want to do something broadly similar, but you can't reuse the source code.
For example, Images are not Serializable, but suppose you want a small image that is part of an object to be serialized with the rest of the object without too much fuss (ie, without using javax.imageio). You notice ImageIcon is serializable, so you use it. (An ImageIcon has-an Image.) Then you wonder: how'd they do that? You read the source and then you know.
    You live, you learn,

Could you paste the whole source code here and then I can modify it to set the 'httponly' attribute? I also have a problem that after changing the package, how to use the package I changed? Does it still a system package here? Or it has been changed to an user-defined package in database and I need to execute the package on the database for the web server?

  • Protecting J2ee source code

    hi
How I can protect my source code from a decompilation in a J2ee
environment. I search a effective means for protecting the source code,
and that is not a handicap in term of performances.
I must to crypted the source code or to use an obfuscator (which is most
    effective)?
    regards

In a J2EE environment, obfuscating your code should make sense only if you're a library or components developer, and you have to supply class files to your clients and don't want them to be able to reverse-engineer.
If you do not supply libraries, your code is on the server, and you shouldn't need to obfuscate anything.
Of course, if some intruder gets access to your server machine, the above does not hold anymore. However, I suspect that you'll have much bigger worries in this case than the mere possibility of the intruder decompiling your code....

  • Where is the source codes in the project

    Help! NetBeans 6.5 Compile.
Old man trying to learn Java and tools provided by SUN.
I down loaded all those swing demos. I throw 3 demos into NB-6.5 to compile with existing source. When I start building got the message says compiled class file in the ?build? folder. Recommended to delete. If I clicked ?yes? or ?ignore?, it compiled and ran OK.
One of my problem is, I like the source codes in the edit window and another one is I can not find my source in any folder in the project..
    Project folder :
    E:\NbProj\NbProj-1
    \NbProj-2
    \Nb/Proj-3
    Swing Demo source
    E:\DnLd\DemoZips
    \Source
    \demo.java-1
    \demo.java-2
    \demo.java-3
Is it because of my setup?
How can I get source codes into NB so I can learn NB and provided tools by editing compiling.
Appreciate for any education to an old man.

  • How to get full source code for Oracle ADF?

    Hi,
I 'm referring to the following URL http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/intro003.htm and it has mentioned that full source for Oracle ADF is available :
"Full source for Oracle ADF is available to supported customers through Oracle Worldwide Support. The full source code for the framework can be an important tool to assisting you in diagnosing problems and in correctly extending the base framework functionality for your needs."
Does anyone know how to obtain such information from Oracle support? Is this from metalink

One possible snag in the process is that you will have some legal paperwork to sign. Depending on your company's policies, this could pose a problem.
