It says you can make free calls and send free SMS just by connecting to any other Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, the other phone even does not need to install this software...
How can one protect his phone from such attacks besides turning off Bluetooth?

Exactly. Your best line of defence is common sense.
Firstly, don't leave bluetooth on unless you need to use it.
When you do need it, don't leave your phone as discoverable. Leave it as "hidden". You only need it to be discoverable if trying to pair another device with it.
If a pairing request comes in while the phone is discoverable, ask yourself if you were responsible for it. If in doubt, don't accept the request.

I just got a new iphone 5 yesterday. It was installed with 6.0.1 so I upgraded to 6.1.
I switched it off and put it on charge from power plus, to give it a full charge. Then in the middle of the night it turned on. This disturbed our sleep.

The normal default behaviour of an iPhone is that, if off and plugged in, it starts up.
If you want it to stay off while charging, you need to plug it in while still on, then turn it off. If you turn it off after it has been plugged in, it will then stay off.

When I first got my phone Skype video was not available so I opened a Yahoo email account so that I could use them for video calls. I got frustrated with the phone in that about half of the time that I turned it on it would tell me that it couldn't connect to the Yahoo servers due to an invalid password. Other times it would connect successfully.
I went to the default email app and found an option to delete the Yahoo account. I even went to the Yahoo web site and deleted the email account from there.
I thought that I had successfully deleted the account but now I get a message that the phone can't access the Yahoo servers every time I turn the phone on. Any ideas on how to stop the phone from attempting to access the Yahoo email servers?
I've checked and the email app doesn't list Yahoo and I can't find any reference to Yahoo in the apps section.

Nevermind, I fixed it (I think). I went into Settings | Accounts & Sync and found Yahoo at the bottom of the list (alphabetically). I selected it and it had an optiion to delete the account, which I did.

How Do I stop the phone from locking while the navigation program is running.

I have a Blackberry 9630 V4.7.1.40. The phone is on an enterprise server network through work. The phone is set to password lock after a couple of min. of non-use. When I have the Sprint Navigation program running, the phone locks after a few min and loses my satellite. I then have to type in a password to unlock it and I then get the signal back.
I called Sprint and they said to press a button after every couple of min. to keep the phone "active". That sounds a little fishy to me!
How do I keep the phone from locking while the Nav. Application is running?

Agreed, that is the simplest thing to do... probably much easier than talking your IT guys into raising your timeout.

They are certainly available from Apple.com but only if you have a US credit card and a US delivery address
I suspect you do not fit this requirement
You also have to be careful as the Apple Retail stores sell no contract iPhones these are NOT unlocked
However if you are able to purchase an unlocked iPhone4 8GB then it will certainly work with the Approved carriers in India

It is not possible. You have hit Activation Lock, an anti theft measure. The last owner is the only one who can unlock it with their Apple ID. Tell them to go here

Here is an easy way to move your messages from Phone Memory to Memory Card or from Memory Card to Phone memory In Nokia models.
1- Install latest version of Nokia PC Suite and connect your set.
2- Open Nokia Communication Centre. (Select Phone Memory or Memory Card from which you want to move messages to other memory)
3- Select all messages in a single folder (Inbox/Sent Items or from My Folders) and click on file> export. This will create *.csv file.
4- Download NBU Explorer 1.8 from http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/nokia-nbuexplorer/ (You must have installed Windows Installer 3.1 and Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 to run NBU Explorer. You can easily download these from Microsoft Site,)
5- Open *.csv file in NBU Explorer and click File > Export All. (Your all messages will be exported as *.vmg files.)
6- Disconnect and connect your phone again in Nokia PC Suite.
7- Now set your target memory in your phone for messages.
8- Open Communication Centre and Select your desired folder then click on file > Import messages by selecting multiple messages *.vmg files. (You don’t have to import messages one by one but you can import all messages in a single folder at once)
9- And you have done it.
10- You can import *.csv list in Nokia PC Suite rather *.vmg files, but in this case, all the spaces (blank spaces) in your messages will be lost. All the text of your messages will be merged to a single line. So exporting via NBU Explorer is recommended.

How to allow image file uploading, but protect the directory from abuse?

I have an upload facility that allows visitors to upload their personal image (aka avatar) to my client’s site. This required me to CHMOD the assets folder to 777 which leaves the folder wide open to abuse.
Is there a way to allow the uploading of files but protect the directory from abuse?
I could put the images in the database but I assume that would quickly drag down the performance of the (MySQL) database.
Any ideas?!

Only if the abuser can get an executable file of some sort into that folder. If you are filtering the files during upload to select only image files then I think you are pretty safe.

Definitely - you would never want to store the images as blobs unless you had a compelling reason to do so. It's much more forward thinking to just save the image filenames in the database, and link to them as needed.

I would sign out of your Apple ID on those devices and also change the password to your Apple ID. That should stop people from accessing and using your Apple ID.
