How to provide internet access for a site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010
Hi all,
I am working on SharePoint Foundation 2010. I have to make a site collection available on internet.
Only one site collection is to be brought on internet rest of the site collections should not be accessible from outside.
How do I achieve this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
As per my knowledge, you have to create new Web Application for your site to publishing it to internet. Since internet settings can be done at web application so create new one and then backup your existing site and restore in new web app.

Error Accessing Host Named Site Collections In SharePoint Foundation 2013
We have a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 server that has one web application two host named site collections. We get the "This page can't be displayed" message when we try to navigate to either of the site collections. Adding the server's IP to
the host file on the machine we are testing from doesn't help. We can ping the new sites from that machine. The web application does not have a host header.

I recommend to verify the things below:
Check if site can be accessed with site collection administrator.
Add the SharePoint sites to a trusted zone to see if the issue still occurs.
As this issue can be caused by many reasons, you may check the ULS log for more detailed errors.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.

How to set version limit for entire site collection
Hi,
We have more than 500 document libraries in one site collection. I see some of them have more than 50 versions & taking lot of storage space. So planning to limit the version's to 3 Major and 3 Minor for entire site collection. How can we do that? I
know we can set to individual library by how can we do that for entire site collection?

RithuThe version limit is a library specific setting, so you'll need to use PowerShell to set the property value on each library in every site in the site collection. Here's a sample script that sets if for one library. You'll need to expand the script
to walk the sites recursively and run this for every library.

Please Note: Changing these settings won't delete old versions. That only happens after each item in the list or library is edited.

How to block internet access for RDS and RemoteApp users?
Hi everyone,
This question might partially belong to security forum but I think anyone using RDS services comes across this. I would like to TOTALLY block all internet access including "updates" to any software, windows updates, anti-virus updates, TCP, UDP,
or ANY other protocol out of the server. I would like to only allow traffic both ways for established traffic (e.g. accessing the remote apps).
How can I achieve this without involving a third party firewall software?

How to provide View access for all the projects to an employee?
We’ve a requirement to provide view access to certain employees to all the projects. They are supposed to have only view access to the project information (HTML Interface). We don’t want to assign these employees to the projects.
In this regard we created a menu that gives users only view access to project information. We assigned the employee/user the profile option “PA: Cross Project User View” and set the value to “Yes”. However the user is only able to view Project Overview information. The moment I assign the user to a project (non scheduled member), the user is able to view all project information.
We’ve tried bouncing the apache post assignment of the profile option to the user, but no luck. Is there something else required to be done? Why is the profile option not working? Please advice.
Note: We don’t want to give the user Project Authority as it by default gives the user rights to modify information in the project.
Any other suggestions to achieve the said functionality is most welcome.For 10.1.4, there are two ways to reference a document :

Access is Denied -- Site Upgrade Upgrade from Foundation 2010 to Foundation 2013
I'm trying to do a Site Upgrade from Foundation 2010 to 2013 and I keep getting Access Denied during the site upgrade process

Internet Access for PDF Question
Hello,
I was using IE until an auto update last week. I am now using Firefox. I have a business site that I go on to complete report 'tasks'. When I click on the task, it should open the report in the same page. Now it is opening the report in a new PDF window. I can fill in the report, but when I click on 'submit', it goes no where. Saving the report and emailing is not an option as it needs to be submitted through the system. I have repaired, checked for updates and unistalled/re-installed adobe reader 11 as well as updated the adobe flash. The switch from IE to Firefox was recommended by the business site's support. Chrome/Safari are not available options. I have 'enabled' the adobe add-on in Firefox and allowed access to all sites in Adobe preferences. Any suggestions on how to 'enable internet access' from the site to adobe would be appreciated... thanksHello,
On Firefox, the adobe reader plugin for the 'portable document format' is set as default. I just changed the three adobe acrobat tabs under applications from 'use adobe acrobat (in firefox)' to 'use adobe reader' (default). The issue is my task/the pdf link is not connecting to the internet to send the data back. The task opens and I can fill it in, just cannot submit it back. This is the 'security warning' info that comes up:

Is extra CAL required for uploading/downloading docs using SharePoint Foundation 2010? We already have Licensed Windows Server 2008 R2. Ours is an intranet application which will be accessed by 400 intranet users.
If CAL is required then can i use only 1 CAL for my app server to upload/download docs on SP Foundation provided all 400 client requests will go via app server to SP server?If I want to use sharepoint foundation 2013, I need to have Windows server 2008 R2 / 2012 license & SQL server license (optional). I'm confused in - what kind of windows server license is required & do I also need some other license to use sharepoint

GuysNeed some assistance on providing internet access at a branch site for clients. Any thoughts and suggestions welcome and appreciatedWe have a number of branch offices connected over ISP managed MPLS network, any-2-any. I am looking at implementing some kind of internet access at the branch offices, either wired or wireless. We manage all the L1 and L2 connectivity at the sites, and the L3 side at our hub offices, of which we have 2, mainly for internet traffic etc, which isnt provided by our MPLS ISPCurrently all internet traffic for all sites goes to our data centre and is routed out through our firewall. Routing isnt an issue here, its more the best way to set this up securely.My initial thoughts were to set aside a whole bunch of ports on a seperate PVLAN that would connect the clients to the network (I am not conerned about the clients talking to each other, as long as they cant reach the local vlans). But the problem may lie at the firewall end, as I will need to specify specific hosts for port 80, 443 traffic only. Would a seperate DHCP scope, of say a /28, allowing 16 hosts only be an idea? Then I wouldnt have to mess around with firewall changes for different hosts all the timeThanks

How to share internet access from iPhone with home LAN

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just bought an iPhone and am trying to use it to provide internet access to a LAN at my cottage where only dial-up is possible with my ISP. Although this is easily accomplished by enabling internet sharing on my iMac and plugging it into my router's WAN port, I do not have any access to my IP printer or to my SONOS music system. Any pointers?

Then, I can share this connection with other computers (via ethernet in my case) by enabling internet sharing (in the Sharing control panel). My problem is that once I plug my iMac in the WAN port of my router, I can't access my LAN anymore. Any ideas???

Rcshnoor nailed it, everything will depend on how they manage their data connection once the laptop is connected. It is perfectly feasible that they will have no issues with this new connection. However, there is nothing stopping the user from going above and beyond the data usage cap currently sufficient for the phone by itself. We cannot presume that any estimations on new usage will be accurate either.
Users should always be aware of the reality that revolves around data usage and the devices that consume them. Its no different than installing a 2nd waterline/hose on your house. Sure the hose will be fine if you remember to turn it off when you are done, but no one is going to stop you from letting it run all night if you forget. -

Access Denied to Site Collection for Everyone Including Site Collection Administrator
I have a site collection with several subsites which I can no longer access. I am listed as both a farm administrator and site collection administrator in this installation. I can access a separate site collection on the same web application,
and I can access the Central Administration site. All accounts including mine, get an access denied error when navigating to any site on the aformentioned site collection.
I was not having any access issues until this morning when I was doing some housekeeping and changing group membership at the root site level, and also deleting a few custom sharepoint groups that were no longer needed. At some point after deleting
one of these custom groups, I began getting the access denied errors.
I found the error below in the uls viewer, but haven't seen anything that looks related in the windows application log. I had some similar issues yesterday, but was able to resolve them by toggling Inherit Permissions, Stop Inheriting permissions from
a subsite using SharePoint Designer. I've had no such luck with SharePoint Designer today. I've scoured this forum and the web for a solution, but have not found any issue that looked the same as mine. Any help would be appreciated.
