Hi,
This is simple.
Go for the field for which u want to create the Value help in the configuration panel.
Click on the field at right end on the symbol ^ ,then it will give u list of options in that select the value help option.
Then Select ur data service and search for ur Service or quiery.
Then click on next and enter the input and output port then do the proper mapping sto the fields then clikc on Finish.

How to show BPM Reporting values in Visual Composer

Hi everybody,
i add a Reporting Activity to my current BPM Process. My purpose is to show the report in Visual composer.
Unfortunately i don't know how to import the BPM Reporting Activity into VC?
Could anybody help me with a how-to-guide or a detailed description?

Real-time analytics allows reporting on a subset of both generic process data and process context data. When performing real-time analytics, data is consumed and reports are displayed directly in the Visual Composer of the local system.
Reporting data is provided as DataSources to VC and you use the VC BI Kit to display the data.
Discovering BPM DataSources in Visual Composer:
3. Choose: View -> Task Panel -> Search to search for BPM DataSources. The Search dialog appears.
4. From the Select provider dropdown menu, select BI Data Sources.
5. From the System destination dropdown menu, select BI (Sql) Portal.
...but per my understanding, in order to be able to select "BI Data Sources", because all BPM Data Sources can be accessed from this choice only, you need to have BW, and you need to configure the connection between your BPM and BW??
Also, your own custom BPM Data Sources can be created only with the "Reporting Activity" in NWDS, Process Development perspective??

Hi,
There are two ways to get the services into VC.
1St Method.
If you have the Zip file or XML file of your system(which you can get from the portal where these systems configured) then import it in under systemadministration->transport->import ->zip or XML.
then you have to creat a alias for this system and do the usermapping then it will appear in VC
2nd Method.
You have to configure the systems in the portal then you have to creat a alias for this system and do the usermapping then it will appear in VC.

I have tried the procedure given in the blog

Where do i need to save the jsp file in the portal and how?
I have also tried doing the same in the follwoing blog

But when when i deploy it i get an exception
"java.net.MalformedURLException: Illegal character in fragment at index 33 "
Error details:

I'm assuming you would like to embed a map into your application.
In that case, you need to connect your data service (the one that holds the addresses you wish to present using the map) to an HTML view and map the data as follows:

Where @Address is the field in your service which holds the address, e.g: 10 market st
and the @City is the field in your service that hods the city, e.g: San Francisco

VC is supposed to allow employees with limited technical skills created web based applications which can then be used in the portal. You do need some technical knowledge but it is more easier than developing code.

Hy kiran, is not possible to read data from flat file and put it in visual composer but you can :
1) load this file in BI by ETL, for example on DSO object and then you can create a bex query to retrive the data
2) if you want display the content of this file , you can use KM.

How to get system information on a visual composer model

Hi,
We are trying to build a model that will use some images, since we can not add images to the VC library we need to call the images using an URL, but the problem is that we would like to avoid to hard code the URL, since that will create a problem when we move the models across the landscape (DEV-TST-PRD) and we were thinking to use the system information to build the URL using an expresion.
Is it possible to get the system information on VC? just to clarify if I can get the system ID (system name) that will help us to define the URL.
Is there any other best practices to handle URLs without hard coding them?

You can add images to yoru VC solution model directly by selecting from the tools menu --> Image Manager then loading yoru images.
You can now reference these images from within your model as variables. Two controls that support this directly are the command button or image control. You will see under their propoerties values the image "tab" - you can now associate images you loaded for the Image Manger dynamically.
If your images are large and you want to store items for your portal in an external reference (outside VC). E.g. KM repository. You can define a shorturl for it and set a hyperlink object using this from VC or use the PCD address where the object is stored.
If you are trying to collect the portal url from R3/BI you can use the RSPOR_T_PORTAL (Maintained by BASIS) table values by using the BAPI RSWR_PORTAL_CONFIG_GET which will allow you to establish teh portal url prefix remotely.
Trust this resolves your challenge.

How to use ENQUE and DEQUE BAPI in Visual Composer

We are planning to update employee Address through Portal for that one we did one BAPI which supports ADDRESS Change of an employye, through Visual Composer we developed the application and we integrated into SAP Portal but we are not able to update our records, then we found BAPI_EMPLOYEE_ENQUE and BAPI_EMPLOYEE_DEQUE, but we don't know how to use thease BAPI's in Visual Composer i mean how to make connection between out input form and thease BAPI''s and our custom BAPI's.

Nice to see your reply, we got this error in R/3 it self, when we are trying to excuting SAP Standard BAPI we are getting this error "Employee/applicant is not locked yet". I think this is bug from SAP itself, do you have any idea about this one? is there any settings we need to do in R/3 for resolving this one or else is there any data we need to maintaine for our Employee Records.

I am developing application using Visual Composer within EP7.01 SP6, and I can not manage to find how to change the original blue of Visual Composer application for scroll bar.
Does anyone knows where to change this color ? I believe it is a general color that is defined somewhere that needs to be change in the portal theme editor in the Visual Composer part, but I did not find it...

Its not inside Visual Composer application. You have to do it at Enterprise Portal level.
Also inside VC model you need to select 'Flash Runtime' from tools (Options).
Basically you need to change theme settings in content administration of VC.

Data Source CE in Visual Composer

Hello Experts,
we are running on CE 7.2.
I wanted to read BPM task details into a custom application or generate a report of who has claimed the task,currently being processed by whom and the history of this information relating to every task in uwl.
I know that CE 7.3 offers BPM API's using which thiscan be accomplished.
However I have also read that Visual Composer can provide this solution.
I have the following queries:
1)what data source should be selectedif i choose to go with vc
jdbc BI template? or BI....we do not have a Bw system in our landscape and our datasource is portal DB.
2)Does that mean BI usage type will have to be installed alongwith BI jdbc connector..
3)what would be a more feasible solution ...upgrading to 7.3 or installing the BI component. ( we need to perform only reporting activity as to with whom the task is currently pending and ho had processed it in the past)

Thanks for the reply, however i still have some queries.
1)I could not find the standard BPM datasource in the dropdown of select providers.
I therefore selected BI Data sources even though we do not have a BW system .
2)I tried selecting standard BPM tables to fetch the data.
viz; BPM_MYTASKS_DS..I want to know if there is any standard table which stores information about who had and who is currently proceesing tasks , if yes can you please provide the name of table or how can i make it available in visual composer's "search for table" field while creating new model.
3)we are also trying to upgrade to 7.3
Now BPM & CE are on same instance.
Can only BPM 7.2 be upgraded to BPM 7.3 instead of entire CE portal from 7.2 to 7.3?
4)Also i read somewhere that it would be an entire upgrade to netweaver 7.3 and in usage type we will have to select the usage type of what we want to upgrade like CAF to 7.3, BPM to 7.3 and so and and so forth. Is this right?
5)Can also you please let me know in which situation we should use visual composer and when BPM api is suitable?
