How to publish iweb ftp into domain folder thru iweb?

Hey guys, I have just finished making a website thru iweb for my friend, but he need to edit it in his computer.
Normally, I can just transfer a domain file via USB, but I can't find mine. I have downloaded the easy find software, and tried to find domain.sites2 (coz my iweb version is 3.0.4). However it doesn't work. I am not quite sure I have saved it into a domain file ( but I am sure I have saved it, coz every time when I made some changes i will click command+s, so I think my file is definitely somewhere in my computer but probably in other forms. WHO can tell me where did I save it when I click command+s??? ).
Is there an order specifically for publishing it into a domain file? I didn't find an order like that. Is it automatically? Or do I need to do it by myself?
Another weird thing is that my friend made a website thru mobileme, and it seemed like it can publish a domain file automatically, but ftp can't? Or just I did it the wrong way?
Also when he transfer his domain file to my computer (when I was still editing my previous website), I opened it and it somehow covered my website, and I can't find it!!!! The last thing is that  except for preview what exactly is publish into local folder for?
I did come across several problems, guys plz help me out!!! Millions of thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the Support Communities. If you don't see your Domain file here:
...try searching for sites2 rather than domain.sites2.
And rather than sending Domain files back & forth, consider switching to a website builder which incorporates collaborative website editing — see this post:

How to publish iWeb to iCloud?

iCloud does NOT allow you to host your web sites. You can continue to use iWeb but, will need a 3rd party web host to upload your websites to. Depending on the version of iWeb you are using you have a couple of publishing options:
iWeb '09 (3.0.4) you can publish to an FTP Server or a local folder. ( With the built in FTP in iWeb you will end up with an address like "www.YourDomain.com/sitename/Home.html )
iWeb '08 you can publish your website to a local folder
I have been using IX Webhosting for several years with little to no problems "usually the problem was something I did" and they have been quick to solve any issue I have come across. The have plans that start at $3.95 a mo (USD) and their customer service is top notch.

How to publish iWeb online but not through iCloud but someone else?
    Mybe Google or woodpress,
Or publish iWeb online with iCloud WITHOUT upgrading Lion?

iWeb will still be around but as Jeff pointed out if you want a blog with visitors comments you should consider converting your iWeb blog to  WordPress.  Rage Software has created an applicaiton that will convert your current iWeb blog w/visitor comments to a Wordpress blog. You can get the application here: Convert Your iWeb Blog to a WordPress Blog.
If you don't have visitor comments then the iWeb blog will continue to work for you on a 3rd party FTP server.
If you have photo pages in your website with the accompanying slideshow you'll need to read the following:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

How do I bundle files into one folder on my mac OS X version 10.6.8? I don't have an icon for Launchpad on my desktop.

Put the files you want on the first page into the folder, and then use subfolders for the subsequent pages. If the process you saw involved Launchpad on a newer OS, it can’t be done on 10.6.8.

  • How to Publish Multiple Websites Using Domain Masking

Let's say I have a mobileme acct called applesoranges, but then I decided not to use this name for my website. Using iweb, I have created a different website called blueberry.com, and was able to figure out how to set up my personal domain and then mask appleoranges so that only blueberry.co, appears.
I now want to add another website called strawberry.com. With one mobileme acct (applesoranges), is it possible to host 2 separate websites, each of which is masking the original mobileme acct? How does one set up 2 separate websites using iweb (each masking the original acct name)?
    Many thanks!

For every MobileMe account you can only use the personal domain name option and CNAME only once. You enter your first domain name into your MMe account and then go and set up CNAME forwarding at your domain registrar to forward to web.me.com. For any other sites that you create, you need to go to web forwarding. You set-up the other domain names by using masked web forwarding and point them to web.me.com/username/sitename and by masking these will just show your domain name address and not your MobileMe/iWeb url.
Make sure that you separate out your sites, as it will be easier. You can either duplicate the domain.sites files and have one site per a domain file or use a program called iWebSites to help you manage multiple sites.
You also have the option of not using MMe and you can publish to a folder instead and upload directly to each domain hosting space. This gets away from the problem of how to forward sites to iWeb/MMe.

  • How to publish to FTP site NOT mobile me???

how do i publish the site to an FTP site that is hosting for me? i don't have mobile me and dont want it if i don't have to. please help. thanks!

As you have posted this in the iWeb 08 forum I am assuming that you are using iWeb 08 which does not have a built in ftp to server option.
In iWeb 08 you need to select the publish to a folder option and your site will be published to your Home Sites folder - there will be an index file, plus the Site folder of the same name that you named your site in iWeb.
Next you need to download Cyberduck free from the internet - this is a dedicated ftp program that you use to upload your files to your server. Open Cyberduck and enter your host, username and password details to connect with your host and then upload both your Site folder and your index.html file to your server. Your Site folder needs to be placed in the public_html folder on your server or whichever folder your server requires you to upload to. The index file needs to sit outside this folder to point into it.

  • How to Publish to a personal domain AND .Mac?

I had a working iWeb site published to web.mac and it working fine. I added a new site in iWeb08 and set up a personal domain. When I selected the new site and published, BOTH my old site and the new one published to my personal domain. How do I tell iWeb08 to publish one site to a personal domain and another site to .Mac (.Me)?

This post is a little confusing. Do you have two sites hosted at MMe or not?
Do you mean that you used to host your business site and MMe and have now switched to uploading directly to your web host using ftp? If you have, then you can of course delete this site from your iDisk/MMe account, because if you have uploaded directly, then MMe has nothing to do with your domain name any more.
If you have not done this and you are hosting both your sites on your MMe account via either CNAME or web forwarding, then no, you can't delete that site because if you do, there is nowhere to forward to.
Password protection will not affect any other sites that you have. Just go into iWeb and set this up and then re-publish and it will just affect that site that you set it up for. Nothing else.

  • How to nestle 20+ pages into one "folder" in the vertical left-hand index c

This question regards the vertical index column on the left hand side of the workspace in an open iWeb program.
I have a bunch of regular pages (about 20 and growing) that I will link to another single page. That single page will have a bunch of pictures and each picture will be hyperlinked.
This means that my vertical left hand index will become very very long unless I can get them all into/nestled into one “folder”. Is that possible when dealing with just regular web pages and not photo albums or movie albums?
I tried at first to use a blog, but the blog puts pages in chronological order, and this project does not require link clicking to be chronological or sequential. People can click wherever they want to click and arrive at a page. Then they can click “Back to the Original Page with all the links and pictures.”
This is a light-hearted endeavor, not a serious documentary type thing.
So back to my question: Is it possible for me to nestle all those 20+ pages under that one original map/photo page with all of the photos hyperlinked? Or am I stuck with a long Index now? Or is there some other way I can deal with the one map/photo page and the other pages that the first page links to? I am going to put links on the other pages too, so that people can click where they want and see new/different things at different times.
Thank you for any help you can share with me......

If I understand you correctly the answer is no. You want to be able to shorten the list of pages in the left hand pane of iWeb. The only way to next them would be to create a new site and drag some of the files to that site. But that would make them separate from the others. Unless you're willing to do something like that and then on the map photo page link each photo to one of the pages in the other site and manually add a link on those pages back to the map/photo page. A little more work I think than scrolling down to find a page you need to work on.
I have a web site with about 40 pages. However, each page is a separate site and I use a frame file to link them all together. That's possible. If you were to try that you'd had to make each page a site in iWeb and then follow the workflow in the description below to separate them into individual domain files.
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
Again, it may be easier to just scroll.

  • How do i move games into a folder

hi i have just brought a new 2011 imac , and i am trying to make a new folder and move games and other items into the folder but when i try to move it past the screen in vanishes into like a poof of air?

Are you trying to move items from the Dock? They're just aliases, not the actual applications. You should find all your games in the Applications folder.

  • How to drag a file into a folder

hi-this is kind of basic, but could someone please tell me the easiest and quickest way to drag a file [say a Pages document] into a folder. like if you write a draft of an email in Pages, and then you want to stash it in a folder called 'letters'. thanks

Much simpler to stay in the Finder. You can either drag and drop from one Finder window to another, or within the same Finder window (ie, grab the file, and use one of the shortcuts in your sidebar to navigate to your new folder). You should make sure that "Spring-loaded folders" is turned ON in your Finder preferences. When you hold a file over a folder, wait a short while to have the folder open automatically, or hold down the space bar to open it immediately.
You can also install FiWi to quickly create two side-by-side Finder windows.
Of course, you can also use copy (cmd-C) and paste (cmd-V) as an alternative to dragging and dropping files. There's no "cut file" (ie move) as there is in Windows.

  • How to publish iWeb

This is what is written and I didn't understand what to do exactly? "You create a personal domain by registering the name you want to __use with an accredited domain name registrar on the Internet.__
    Regards

If you are using a MobileMe account then from iWeb all you do is click Publish or Publish All to MMe and it is done. If you are uploading directly, then Publish to a folder and then upload the files directly to your web space using an ftp program such as Cyberduck.
If you want a domain name, then you have to go and buy one from a domain name registrar.

  • How to publish iWeb on Drop Box

How do I publish an iWeb site using drop box?

Publish to the Public folder on Dropbox.
In iWeb, choose "Publish to folder" and then select the Public folder @ Dropbox.
It is assumed that you have a Dropbox account, installed Dropbox on your computer and read the Dropbox manual.
And before I forget, find out the URL to your Public folder too. Such as :
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3563737/Lycos/Fixed.html
Where Lycos is the iWeb Sitename.

  • I am unable to publish to FTP site or Folder ... errrrrr

I am getting very frustrated! I can publish just fine to Mobleme but I have another site that I publish to an SFTP site which worked fine at first. I upgraded to the 10.6.2 and was getting a SFWordProcessing plug in problem.. I fixed that and all was working fine.
BUT THEN I went to add to my blog and the Entries were listed but no pages showing. I couldn't fix it so I then created a new blog and started over and deleted the old one. I tried publishing it to FTP and got a publishing error. I tried publishing it to local folder (desktop) and it got an unknown publishing error.
I need help immediately!!!! I've called the help line and they haven't gotten back with me yet.
