How to publish my site iWeb on a FTP servor ?

How to publish my site iWeb on a FTP servor since Mobilme is no longer available ?

You might want to check out third party hosts like Machighway or Hostexcellence or others who offer low cost website hosting. They will give you the info you need to plug into iWeb's ftp page to upload the site. they cost less than mobileme and offer more.
Apple has some tutorials on ftp and iweb. http://www.apple.com/findouthow/web/#ftp

  • How to publish Muse site

how to replace an existing .com with a ready to publish Muse site?

I am going to make a whole bunch of assumptions. You have a web hosting service with an existing web site and you want to put the site you made with Muse in place of the current one.
Simple: Use the FTP feature in Muse. Muse will ask you to "replace" current file. It will replace the index.html default.html, it's that easy.
IF you have the web hosting user name and password.
AdobeTV and utube have a number of videos that will take you through the process step by step.
    Hope this helps

  • Does anyone know how to publish a site using Lion server.

I have made a web site using I web and was trying to publish it using FTP and lion server but was quite sure were to find the server address and other required info.
If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

You shouldn't need to use ftp to publish a site when using a server, this is the whole point, that you are not uploading anywhere external, but are hosting yourself on a dedicated computer running a server.
This is not really the place to ask.  There should be more forums here that are specially dedicated to Lion server issues.
Try looking at the pages on the Apple site under info on Lion server and there should be a user manual for you to look at for Lion sever.  Try looking at this.
This is an iWeb forum so not really the right place to ask questions regarding server issues.

  • How to publish vc sites or packages in portal

    Hello,
I created a dashboard with VC. Now I want to open the content to the public with an URL.
I can see the content in the Portal, but I don´t know how to publish ut...
    can someone please help me?

    Hi,
    1) You have to create one work set with entry point set to true in a portal
    2) Add page created in VC to work set.
    3) Create one role. add work set to that role.
    4) Go to user management> Identity management>select for user-->assign newly created            role to that user.
Save the changes and refresh the browser. new tab will appear.
Let me know if you have any problem.
    Thanks,

  • How to publish self-contained iweb site?

I'm trying to publish a self-contained iweb site on a cd that will autorun, but I've had some problems:
    1. The disk refuses to autorun on either a PC or a Mac
    2. When I open the index on a PC, all of my text is highlighted in blue! It looks terrible!
    Any suggestions would be great.
    G5 tower/MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Assuming that you are not using any .Mac specific features, like counters or slideshows or passwords or search or comments...then using the "Publish to Folder" option would give you for all intents and purposes a "self-contained" website suitable for something like a CD. What you will end up inside your folder are two things....an index.html file and a folder (with the name of your site) containing all the pertinent files for your website. Simply drop these two items on your CD and burn.
All someone has to do is to click on the index.html file and it will launch a browser and your website. In terms of how to make it autorun, I'm not sure what to tell you. There are ways to do this, but I am not so sophisticated. I'd rather keep things simple...
What you could do rename the index.html file or an alias to the file something like "CLICK ME NOW!" and position it in the CD window so that it's the only thing visible to your viewers. That's how I would do it.

    Hello,
If you want to be able to execute your Reports on the web, the best solution is to use the "Oracle Application Server"
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
For example , the "Forms & Reports Services Standalone" edition
Then, use the Reports Servlet to submit the execution requests to a Reports Server :

  • How to publish news without iWeb

    Hello,
I would like to know if we can add news directly from the site without using iWeb, like a comment ??

Rather than use iWeb's blog, you could use a free, web-based blog such as Posterous. Then add their _Posterous Blog Widget_ to your iWeb site via iWeb's HTML Snippet window. Then you could email your "news" to your Posterous blog and it will appear in the Posterous Blog Widget in your iWeb page. In addition to emailing blog entries to Posterous, you can use their web-based blog manager from any Mac or PC.
Alternatively, instead of using Posterous's Blog Widget, you could embed your blog at Posterous into your iWeb page: Click on iWeb's Insert menu > choose +HTML Snippet+ and copy & paste the following code into the +HTML Snippet+ window...
    <iframe height="100%" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="width:100%;border:none" src="http://yourblogname.posterous.com/"></iframe>
    ...and click Apply.

  • How to publish website from iWeb ?

    Hi Apple Geniuses
I have downloaded Server 2.1.1 thought I would be able to publish my website after losing MobileMe hosting. I would love to publish it again but the process with Server seems to be more complicated, not to say...less straight forward. I have tried some couple of thing but unsuccessfully.
Would anyone of you recommend the step to follow using Server software only (and not recommending any third party website please) to enable the publishing of my website. Alternatively , does anyone would recommend tutorial on how to use Server to publish website.
To all of you, in advance, Thank you.
    Fred

    Hi Mark
I grately appreciate your support and the first couple of steps were easy to follow. However , I'm quite puzzled with the last paragraph in regard to DNS, DynIP, CNAME...
When I have allocated the folder , it did change the TCP from 80 to 443 and I manually reset it to 80...is that where you told to direct the TCP to?
Here is a snap shot of my setting
Let me know if I'm going the right route thank you.

I have created my website in dreamweaver cc and my css, I connected to my server through FTP and pushed all my content (images,my html site document, and css document) and they are all showing up server side as a big list but when go to my site, www.example.com/nameofmydreamweaverhtmlfile, it shows up with text but no images.  i can see any image by going to the site www.example.com/nameofimage.  im probably making some dumb mistake but at a loss for how to publish the site as a package so that the www.example.com/dreamweaversitename page loads as i have built it with all images and css file

Thanks for your reply and time, I am a newbie to dreamweaver, can you tell from these screenshots if its correct?

Yes. You can read more about using personal domains with iWeb here.

How can I edit my iweb site when the domain file opens up empty? I have the site backed up in mobile me, on my computer, and on an external hard drive.
How can I transfer these files into iweb?

    Hi there,
To edit your site from one of your backed up versions, place the Domain file in User>Library>Application Support>iWeb & then launch iWeb. Update & publish.

How can I save my iWeb site as an interactive doco for a presentation? It is not published to the net.

    mashett wrote:
By interactive document I meant to function as a website with pages that are linked through what would be the hyperlink.
That's exactly what you would get. Create a folder with a suitable name: publish to it. Zip it; email it. Tell them to start with the 'index.html' file inside the folder. The rest will follow - they will see it exactly as they would see an online site, links and all.
Note that there is usually a 20MB limit on email attachments so if your site is image-heavy you might have a problem. An alternative is to post it to your webspace - you could post the zipped file and give them a link to it - that will download it (and it's a preferable way of handing a large file anyway, as they can download it at their convenience rather than being forced to in order to get their other mail).

You'll have to describe in detail the workflow you're using to upload to Machighway and any messages/warnings that you get along the way.  Also what version of iWeb are you using and are you publishing just one of your sites?

  • How do I remove old web site when publishing new site with same URL in iweb? Hit replace when publishing new iweb site (so we could have control over changes) but new site name is attached to old via a / after our www address we want to keep.

I hit the replace when publishing the new iweb site (so we could have control over changes - last one was not an apple based site) but new site name is attached to old via a forward slash and underscore after our www address. Makes it very messy with a very long web address.  Original address now followed by iweb site name followed by name of first page? Went for iweb as not that computer literate - all going so well?! Cheers for help in anticipation. Have to get off to work now but be great end to week if we could be sorted tonight. Rupes

Well yes of course, if you try and publish through iWeb there won't be an option to publish without your site folder which is exactly why I told you to download Cyberduck and use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server having published your site from iWeb to a local folder.  That is what you need to do if you don't want your site name to be included in yoru url.
It would have been easier also if you had used Cyberduck initially to connect to your server and delete your old site yourself - at least that way you would have deleted the correct files rather than relying on your hosting service to do it and doing it incorrectly.
Download Cyberduck and then select the publish to a local folder option from iWeb and then use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server, but rather than uploading the whole site folder and separate index file, upload ONLY the contents of your site folder and then your url will be http://www.domain.com/page_name.html.
    It really isn't rocket science!
