How to publish only changed pages

I am using Dreamweaver CS3...When I publish to my
Apache/Linux server it appears to re-publish all pages that have
already been published. I only want to publish CHANGED pages. Is
there a setting in Dreamweaver CS3 that will cause only CHANGED
pages to be published?
Thanks!

Highlight the file you want to publish and click the up
facing arrow. This will put your file to your server as long as you
have your server defined in the site management.
Another way to have it done automaticly is to go to site
management and highlight your site name and click edit. Select
Advanced, click on Remote Info on the left. Under the Server
Compatibility button check the Automatically upload files to server
on save. Click ok.
Now when ever you save a file Dreamweaver will save it and up
load it at the same time. It will ask you if you want to save
dependant files also. So if you made changes to the css or anything
else, click yes.

  • How to publish only select pages of a website

I have built multiple websites using iWeb, which I publish through MobileMe. Is there a way to publish the files from one of iWeb websites (or one page from one website for that matter) without iWeb and MobileMe publishing every updated file in iWeb?
I cannot find any information about this in the iWeb online Help. It is very frustrating because some of my sites and pages are not ready to be published, but when I click the Publish button in iWeb, iWeb/MobileMe publishes every file in iWeb.
How do I publish just one site or just one page from one site? Please help.
    Cheers, TruthMaker

For ease of updating and publish it is better to build all your sites on separate domain files.....
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebMultiplewebsites.html
When publishing to MobileMe its not so easy to not publish a page or two.
What you can do is create a second site on the same domain file and drag the pages you don't want to be seen down to this. They will be published but will not be seen on the website as their files will be in a different folder in Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites.

  • Printing only changed pages

In my department, we produce large technical manuals that are distributed to users around the world.  When small changes are made to the manuals, we only distribute the changed pages (including the back side of the changed page since the documents are printed double-sided).  Is there an automated way to only print the changed pages with the necessary back pages?

Rick Quatro at http://www.frameexpert.com has a plugin that will print only changed pages; I don't see it listed on his website at the moment, but if you contact him he'll be able to give you more details.
Rick's very, very familiar with the complications of dealing with changed pages in FM.

  • How to publish only pages with changes?

I am publishing to a folder rather than to MobileMe. Is there a way to publish only files that are new or have changed since last publish?

ThierryR is correct. Publishing to a folder without a previous version in that folder forces iWeb to publish the entire site. Subsequent publishes can be just changed pages. So just leave the site in the folder and keep publishing to it. You can always find which files have been changed by using the sort by date option in the Finder window for the site folder. But you realize that some files is the site's subfolders may be updated also, like css and js files.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • How to upload only Master Page changes to server

    Hi guys
I've been working on a massive website. It started out as a small brochure style website, but has now grown to a multitude of subpages and categories, etc. I exported the Muse site to html and started working in Dreamweaver, creating all the extra subpages, etc.
The client has now made changes which has to be done on my master page in Muse. I have done these, exported the site to a new location, and thought it will be as simple as uploading the CSS for the master page to the server to see the changes. It's not working.
Any ideas on how to upload only the changes I made to the master page to the web server?
    Thanks

Actually, Muse master pages and BC templates and fundamentally different in some key ways. While you can create a BC template using Muse, a Muse master page is not uploaded as a BC template.
svendextro, as Brad stated, once you edit outside of Muse you give up the ability to further edit within Muse. The content and settings on a master page are part of the code generated for each page. There is no independent master page in the generated code that could be modified in the way you're expecting.

  • How to publish newly created pages

I have completely revamped my website and deleted the old home page and associated pages. How do I publish the new pages? I tried publishing changes but now my website just errors out. There must be a check box somewhere, "publish this page", to prevent unfinished pages from being published, etc. Pardon me, I'm an iWeb novice.

Everything in a Site is published the first time. iWeb doesn't know what unfinished pages are.
    Two solutions.
    1. Hide the unfinished page from the menubar. Inspector>First icon from the left. The page will be published but your visitors will not see it.
    2. Create a second Site and drag the unfinished page there. Do not publish the Site.
There must be a check box somewhere, "publish this page",
It's in the menu: Publish Site. It is assumed without checking a box.

  • Publishing only selected pages.

If I was working on multiple pages, lets say three, in my blog and wanted to only upload one of those pages, is there a way to do that?

I take it from your question that you are not uploading to MobileMe or using the iWeb FTP as they both give you the option to publish site changes only.
Its a kind of dangerous game if you don't know exactly what to upload as you can easily break the site structure.
I upload the changed files only by using the smart handling feature of the optimizing application Web Site Maestro.

  • FTP clients/upload only changed pages

I've been reading all the posts related to uploading sites created with iWeb to a non .Mac acccount using various FTP clients, and just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. I use Fetch to upload my two sites to a godaddy.com account. No problems, everything works fine. My sites don't have a lot of pages right now, so I don't care that the whole thing is uploaded every time I make a small change or add a new page. But if my site increases in size & takes a long time to upload, I'd like there to be a way to only upload the changed or new pages. Am I correct in thinking that as of now, none of the FTP clients available are able to do that?

    Hi,
you're right: none of the FTP clients is able to do that with iWeb.
That's what I think why it is so (yet not 100% sure): FTP clients compare the file size and the date a file was edited. If they see it changed they upload that file. If not they kind of skip it.
The "problem" now is that when you export an iweb-website to a folder the files are marked as "created the day and time" you exported it. And that's why (I repeat, I'm not 100% sure) the ftp client doesn't skip the files because the answer from the server is "the file on the computer is newer than the file I have".
(To the pros who read that: please correct me if I'm wrong so that I can learn and don't make mistakes twice...)
BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO is manually selct the files you want to be uploaded. Say you change something in the index file, you can go to your ftp client select the index file and then upload only the index file (I do that all the time with one or more files).
If you add pages that do not appear in the nav bar, means that on a page you have links to that pages, in your ftp client you can select the pages you added and the page you inserted the links to those pages and upload only those.
Now I'm not sure about adding a page that appears in the nav bar, I would try it but my page has a lot of pages and it takes forever to export to folder but you could try... (please tell me the outcome) But I think that it works with those pages too (I think the nav bar will be updated in the whole site even if not re-uploading them all)
    Reagrds,
Cédric (please someone tell me what I didn't know yet, Thanks!)

  • How to save only changed data of ALV in a local table ?

    Hi everyone,
I created and alv with cl_gui_alv_grid, and I made it editable
Now I need that when I click on a button only the changed data to be saved on a local (internal) table
Is there a way I can do that ?
I tried with methods like check_changed_data() but they don't return a table like that
    Regards,

    ok than
    class lcl_event_receiver definition.
         methods:
    * Handle Data Changed
         handle_data_changed
         for event data_changed of cl_gui_alv_grid
         importing er_data_changed,
    endclass.                    "lcl_event DEFINITION

              data: ls_good type lvc_s_modi.
              loop at er_data_changed->mt_good_cells into ls_good.
read table gt_table into gs_table index ls_good-index. "is your changed row in ALV
                    ls_good-fieldname "is your changed field

append these values to your changed field table.
                   modify gt_table from gs_table index ls_good-index.

              call method g_alvgrid->refresh_table_display.

  • How to copy only few pages to an other file

I try to describe exactly the steps I followed:
I have a file of 179 pages indd. Contains short stories. I used the files to produce a pdf file that I sent to print (a copy of proof).
    So far so good.
I also made a blog where I want to publish the short stories one by one.
    To this end,
I opened the initial file (let's call it "A") with InDesign
I opened a new blank file (let's call it "B")
I gave to B the same page dimension of A
I have highlighted in A the 5 pages of the first short storie, and with pages / move pages I have moved on B
    I have these problems:
    1) on B, along with 5 pages that I had highlighted on A, I have also two initial pages that I had not highlighted. Basically I did (I thought to do ) "copy pages from 3 to 7", and InDesign has been copied from 1 to 7.
    2) these two initial pages I can not erase on B
    3) I then said patiently: now I will produce the html file and then I will take off the 2 initial pages on it.
    4) surprise: the html file contains all 179 pages of A!
    5) then, exploring B, I saw at the end of the last page, bottom right, a red square that appears to be "brought back" the entire contents of A.
I am at the begenning, so please explain to me as if I were a child.
    Thank's
    Stefano (Roma-Italia)

    Something is odd.
I have no problem such as you describe using the following proceedure:
Either select the pages you want to move in the pages panel of the "source" document and fromthe panel flyoout menu choose "move pages," or simply enter a range of pages to move in the dialog after selecting the command from the flyout menu.
Choose the new "destination" document and chosse if you will add the pages before or after the exisiting page.
    Press OK.
In the destination the pages appear, and frames are threaded if they were threaded in the source, but no text is included in the thread before or after the section that was moved. You would still have any pages that were already in the destination document, but you should be able to delete them. If you have some keep option set to start on next odd page for the first paragraph of moved text, I think ID would add one extra page if the destination starts on page 1 and you move the pages after it, but again, you should be able to remove those extra pages.

  • How to have only single pages printed from iphoto book

I would like to know if it is possible to have pages printed from an iphoto book that is not bound.  I just want the loose pages to create an ongoing scrapbook not an already bound book.  Is this possible?

If you print yourself one way to do it is to start to print the whole book by typing Command+P.  Then in the print window select either All, Single or Range and then put in the page numbers you want to print. Then click on the PDF button and select Save PDF to iPhoto from the drop down menu.
Screenshot from iPhoto 11 in Lion - Click to view full size
This will create a 200 dpi jpg file for the page and import it into iPhoto.  From there you can print it yourself or have a local photofinisher print it on whatever stock you'd like.

  • IWeb-No way to publish only 'updated' files?

I am gathering by everyone's comments that there is no feature in iWeb to only update changed files, pages, etc? Please help if I am incorrect on this one.
This seems like a major goof on apple's part ... I just wanted to change some font color today and I had to re-upload all my videos on unrelated blog pages. I would suggest everyone use the 'provide iWeb feedback' option under the iWeb drop down menu on this one...
    EK

When you using .Mac, publishing only updates pages
which have been changed (they are shown in red on the
    list at the left).
Good info, but still doesn't make sense why my individual blog pages would be re-uploaded when I only changed the font color on the blog main page. It did turn red, though, indicating all would be uploaded upon publish. This definitely deters me from including videos in my blogs.... maybe just links to static locations on the iDisk would work around this?
