How to publish to pdf

I'm using Captivate 6 and want to publish a small project to pdf so that a co-worker, without captivate, can view the project. How do I do this?

When you click the Publish icon (or click File > Publish), just enable PDF as shown below.

I'm planning to post on my web site my manuscript in PDF format. I would like to make it available in a reading mode only.. I wonder if ADOBE LIVECYCLE Rights Management would allow me to do so in a safe manner. What would be the cost?
    Thanks.

  • How to publish PDF online as Flash player Flip Book

    Hello,
Im not sure if this question belongs in this thread, but none the less, here it is:
How can I publish a pdf of a magazine to a website where viewers can flip through the pages like a flipbook. I noticed several publications doing this, and it seems they are using a generic template, that is simply customized for their magazine. Below are some examples of what i am looking for:
    http://cmamagazine.dgtlpub.com/
    http://update.dgtlpub.com/2014/2014-01-06/home.php
... I was directed to this page by one of the publishers: http://www.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/ebook/
but it does not seem as if this is the technology being used as it is more for mobile readings. Unless digital editions has a feature to publish online as a swf file.
    Please help!

True, but my client is the one who sent those samples and asked for something similiar. I am doing some preliminary research before presenting options to the client.
They currently use flippingbooks, just so that viewers can enjoy virtually turning a page. However, the examples i posted have further capabilities such as an archive of the previous publications, which is what my client hopes to upgrade to.
If i were to suggest them to use epub files and actual apps to read ebooks, they may be hesitant as the viewers of the publications will have to be trained on using the new system.
They currently just send an email with a link to the online swf file, and viewers just click and start reading.
It is a bit archaic, but i want to be able to offer all options, one being this outdated swf option, and another which is what desktop publishing suite has to offer.

  • How to Change Label Size When Publishing a PDF

We are attempting to print barcode labels from XML Publisher.
This question is not about fonts but rather label size.
In our Word template, we selected a label size under Page Setup.
But we have an odd requirement to publish that document as a PDF for remote printing. When we currently publish to PDF, it only treats the page size as Letter. It's ignoring the selected page size from the Word template.
Does anyone know how to get XML Publisher force the PDF-published document treat the page size as a Word label size (or custom size)?
Note: We are on XML Publisher 5.5 on a Red Hat Linux server.

    Hi Tim,
Need help. We need to print labels (width 6 inches, height 4 inches). Earlier we used to use optio and for labels we had a thermal printer which would print the labels in the exact size required.
But now, we want to replace Optio and roll out to XML Publisher for labels. I have no idea how to go about this. Can you please help.
    Thanks

  • Captivate 8 - how do I export or publish to PDF?

Captivate 8 - how do I export or publish to PDF?

Ahhh so you likely fell smitten with the new kid on the block. It's okay. We forgive you. We know how "cool" he is and all.
Lemme guess, in your editor you have a colored bar at the top? And that would mean that you created a new "Responsive" project. (Insert Ahhhhh, swoooon sound here)
PDF output isn't there for that project type as it's meant for copying to a web server for consumption on a variety of devices. If you want to publish to a PDF, you need to be using the Demonstration/Simulation project type. And sorry, there is no button or option to enable that goes "Poof" and now it's converted to that type. You will have to re-create the project.

If you have Acrobat Pro, you can apply page transitions to your PDF. Please see: Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Add page transitions (these instructions also apply to Acrobat Pro XI).

  • How to show a pdf file in bi publisher report

    Hi All,
We need to show a pdf file as report which was saved in a given location. How to call that pdf file as report. We need to give a hyperlink in the report and when we click on the report the pdf file should be displayed.
When we open a report, there will be just hyperlinks to call serveral reports. When we click on each link , one should call a pdf saved in a particular location.
    Thanks.

In Word, if you have set the borders on then you should see them in the output. In Word it has a setting to let you see 'gridlines' even if they are not set ie you have turned the borders off. Highlight the table and set all the borders on and re-try. If that fails, try building the table from scratch and copy the cell contents across to the new table

You will havwe to sign up for some service that supports rights
management, use protected PDFs via LiveCyle/ Acrobat Connect or learn how
to create your own ePub stuff using Digital Publishing Suite. In any case,
it will probably cost you money upfront before you make any revenue.

  • How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)

How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!

  • Pages: How to export a PDF suitable for print-on-demand

I need to be able to export a PDF from Pages that will meet the specs for the IngramSpark or Lightning Source Print on Demand programs. They require a PDF that has all fonts fully embedded in one of these two PDF versions:
    PDF/X-1a:2001 or PDF/X-3:2002
Does Pages export - either through the export function or Print function - to either of those specs and does it embed full font sets?
    Thanks.

The reason neither Pages, or Swift Publisher nor most of the low cost DTP apps do this on OSX is because they use Apple's muddled print output. It almost but not quite outputs to PDF/X-3:2002, and even there there are caveats.
Indesign and QuarkXpress use their own print engines and Scribus uses GhostScript.
GhostScript is available for OSX. I have not tried this so you are in wide open territory, but experiment to see if it fixes Pages' output. My suspicions are that GhostScript may not capture Pages' output before it has already been through Apple's muddled output.
There are other problems with Apple's approach. No specifiable defined colours in Styles. No spot colours, and no proofing. ColorSync itself is powerful but undocumented and difficult to tailor. You can run the end result through Acrobat Pro's Press Check but it only picks up the errors, you are on your own trying to fix them.
The only easy to use, low price DTP application that meets your requirements is Serif PagesPlus, which runs only on Wimdows. You can run this in BootCamp or some other virtualiser.
Adobe lets you effectively hire Indesign CC by the month so may be a cost effective solution in the short term. It is a professional solution but has a professionally difficult interface.

  • Does publishing as PDF increase file size? Is there a way to manage this?

I am looking for any ways to reduce file size of presentations. We have to publish as PDF for single file purposes. I know you can change settings in Presenter publishing, but does publishing as PDF have any affect on file size and if so, are there ways to reduce file size?

My Mac has 4 mail accounts coming into it, but you are correct, one of them is a POP account, (and unfortunately it is the main @ account, and is the one associated with my apple id, since we've had it for years).  I couldn't figure out how to replace this with the Imap version, short of deleting that account entirely.
Is this what I have to do?
    Thanks for your help!

  • CP8 - How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?

    Hi,
How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?
    WebObject doesn't work...
    Thanks

I accomplished this by publishing my PDF to a directory I called "PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles" on my webserver outside of where my published project lives.
For example...the PDF to embed lived at:
    http://mydomain.com/PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles/file_name_of_PDF_to_embed.pdf
Then I went inside of Captivate and inserted the Web Object widget.  I put the URL to my PDF inside the widget.  Then it loads perfectly with no problem.
    Hope this helps.

    WAD 7.0.
Save: you want to save the report as a Bookmark? You can do that using the Bookmark Command.
Use a Link item or a button. In its properties, select Command Via Command. In the pop-up screen which appears, select All Commands --> Commands for Web Templates --> Save Bookmark.
Print: Again, All Commands in button or Link item --> Command for Web Templates --> Export Web template. PDF is the default format.
User Name: You can use a Text Item (under Misc tab). Link your query to it thru data binding. Then use General Text Elements and User name in the General_Text_Element.
Hope this helps. Any doubts, pls let me know.

  • IWeb - publishing a pdf form

    Howdy,
How do I publish a pdf form on iWeb so that visitors can fill it and return it to me?
    thanx
    pierre

Unfortunately, it is quite complex to be able to do this with a pdf form and you need to alter code.
It depends what you want to do though?
If you want to make a pdf form downloadable in iWeb, then you can. You can either go to Inspector and create a hyperlink to the file and when someone clicks on this link, the pdf will open. The other way is to Zip or Compress your pdf file and then link to that through Inspector and hyperlink and then when someone clicks the link, the document will be downloaded and they will be able to complete the form and send it to you in the post, or scan it and e-mail it to you completed.
When you say form, is it this that you want or a Contact/Feedback form that people fill in on your site, with the details e-mailed to you?
If so, then go to somewhere like Bravenet, Freedback or Wufoo and create your own form online and complete the option to have details e-mailed to you. When you have finished the form, copy the code and then paste it to the HTML snippet in iWeb and click Apply and you have your form.
