How to purchase app using different apple id

Hello -
I searched for an answer to this question, but couldn't find it. Is it possible to purchase an app using a different Apple ID than the one I currently use? I don't want to change the Apple ID of my iPhone, I just want to pay for a particular app using a different Apple ID (which is already established).

I just tried to sync my iPhone using iTunes, and it said that the app I downloaded under the alternate apple ID can't be backed up because my computer isn't authorized. Do you know if it's possible for iTunes on my computer to have two authorized apple ID's, or will that cause problems?
I dug around on the Apple's website and couldn't find anything that directly addresses this question.

Well, if you are in India, and are using a credit card registered there, and associated with your userid and the India app store you should be able to purchase an app from that app store.
If you are in the UK and attempting to purchase from the India store you may not be able to even connect...you might try and see if you can and what happens.

A purchased app is associated with an Apple ID. A user with a different Apple ID cannot use the app unless they also use the same Apple ID.
I cannot use my wife's apps nor she mine because each were purchased with different Apple IDs.

After a little further research, it appears that you would need to create separate iTunes libraries in order to be able to continue to purchase and download previously purchased items on the same computer, for two different Apple IDs. Sorry - but my husband and I have had the library we sync with authorized for so long, that we have not run into this issue, but it appears that you will get an warning when you try to authorize the second ID on the same computer, indicating that another ID is already associated with it.
So, you will probably have to set up separate iTunes libraries for each ID:

As I stated, you cannot change the Apple ID that an app asks for, it is forever tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase the app. You need to use the password for the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.
Apps are not transferrable.

Hi maggieanntb, your sister's Apple ID came up because an app(s) was downloaded using her account. To prevent that from happening, you would have to delete the app(s) that were downloaded on her's, and re-download them using your own Apple ID.

App store not showing purchases for 3 different Apple IDs

I think there's something going on today (as others have mentioned and been told nothing is wrong surprise surprise)
I have purchases on three different Apple ID's and every time I log in on three separate machines running 10.7 or 10.8 the Purchases page displays "You have not yet purchased any apps" when each account has definitely purchased 10-20 apps.
I'm able to sign in without receiving any security warnings so it seems like more of a backend database issue (still a big concern).
Is anyone else having similar issues? This just started this morning, I purchased an app with no issues last night.

Yeah, I downloaded DayLite 4 about an hour and a half ago, but i cannot see any of my purchases. I am on the phone with Apple support as I write this and I was told I had to pay a one time support fee. Are you joking? This is not a hardware issue. If it was indeed purchased with a different apple ID then there is no work around for what you want! You can try signing in with your daughter's apple ID and password and update the app and purchase whatever you want then log back in with your apple ID. This may work!

In my opinion it is best to use one Apple ID on your computer and iPad. Using multiple IDs causes confusion.
I also suggest that each person with their own iOS device have their own unique Apple ID. On the computer create different accounts for each user so that iTunes on each account can be associated with the correct Apple ID.
