How to put audio with s-video cable

heyas. i am using a svide cable and i have no sound. then i put another cable in the s-line out (the one i use with my amplifier and it is ok)and cnnectect to the tv but no sound! i have all the updates. tahnks

You need to use audio cables left and right from the dock or headphone jack to audio input on tv, as s-video cable does not carry audio signal. If you are using the Apple A/V kit or cable hook up is simple red to red... white to white yellow to nothing as you are using S-video but if a non-apple A/V cable the plugs may have to be swithced to yellow to red....white to white and red to yellow (or in your case red to nothing as you are using "s" video.

  • Final Cut Express won't capture audio with the video anymore, why?

I have used Final Cut Express 4 for over a year now with no problems, but recently I am unable to capture any audio with the video from my camera. I can do it through iMovie no problem. I can't figure out if I changed a setting by accident because everything looks normal to me. Could another program be interfering with this? Quicktime Pro? I have no idea how to fix this.

First of all, we need a bunch of information in order to help. Please provide the specs of the footage and the sequence you are using. Also, are you using DV, HDV, or AVCHD? Do you hear audio when the clip is played in the viewer, or is there no audio at all once the clip is captured/ingested?

  • No audio with my video

I am a novice who just bought this software and for weeks I have been trying to resolve the problem of importing my video into PR Pro, but there is no audio with my video. I get this great video with no sound. I called technical support who indicated that I had to use .avi instead of .mpeg, so I purchased software to convert my videos to .avi but still have the same problem. I can't even get started using PR Pro and cannot get proper technical help when I call Adobe.
I am using a Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder which does not have a firewire connection, so I import the files to PR from my documents folder on my computer. I have no problem using Windows Media Movie maker (free software)and my videos come out fine. I paid big bucks for PR Pro CS3,yet I cannot use it. Can someone please put me on the right path so I can start using Premiere!!!!! Thanks so much. Lenora

Some notes I've saved from past discussions about divx/mpeg editing
While you may WANT Premiere to edit your divx/mpeg file... there have been dozens-to-hundreds of messages discussing problems, so Premiere clearly is not designed for that type of file
You are an artist - You paint on a canvas
It is a FLAT canvas where you may see and paint everything
That is similar to Premiere with a DV AVI type 2 file... it may see and paint (edit) everything
    1-Now, read here to see
Why NOT to try and edit an MPEG
Your canvas is now "fan folded" like the expanding part of an accordian
You may now only see the edges of the folds - You may NOT see inside the folds
You are now trying to paint a full picture based only on being able to see those edges
That is similar to Premiere with any variety of SD (StandardDef) file compressed into an MPEG (HD "HiDef" is different, with it's own set of issues and problems)
    2-Trying to use Premiere for
    DVD-MPEG file editing
    3-Edit MPEG with
    Premiere Elements
    or
    WOMBLE
    or direct from DVD with
    Movie Edit Pro
    4-Trying to use Premiere for
    DIVX-WMV file editing
    - Do NOTE that a DIVX file that ends with AVI is not the type of AVI that will edit in Premiere... any program may put AVI on the end of the file, but that does NOT mean it will edit in Premiere - so remember that Mpeg (Divx/Xvid is a version of mpeg) is an OUTPUT format
5-Since Premiere does not like to edit compressed files (this seems to vary, depending on exactly what else is installed on the computer) you should not try to use MP3 or MPEG or DIVX (a type of mpeg-4) or JPG file types as edit files (convert MP3 to WAV at 48kHz, or 44.1kHz if that meets the needs and settings of your project, and convert JPG to TIF or PSD, and finally convert MPEG or DIVX to
    DV AVI TYPE II
    for editing)
    6-And,
    a list of MPEG tools
at VideoHelp... but do be aware that converting a file designed for output back to a file that Premiere will edit is very likely going to result in some quality loss
    7-More on the general subject...
    as Jim Simon says
Quicktime (or, I add, AVI) is a container which may contain many flavors of video... only some of which are designed for editing... which means that your COMPRESSED file inside that container is simply not going to edit very well

Does anyone know of a fix for the (apparently well-known) no audio with music videos, movie trailers, TV shows, etc?
Running the latest version of both iTunes and QT on my Dell with Windows XP, but all I get is very choppy sound. Sometimes, no sound at all.
Regular music, however, plays fine (both bought and previewed).

  • I would like to know how to put my .mp4 music videos into the .....

    Hello
I finally learned how to turn my music videos into a format that will play on my ipod and I am excited as **** about the whole thing. My one problem is I can't seem to put the music videos into the music video section. I would like to put my music videos in the music video section and I plan on making some of my favorite movies into .mp4 and keep them in the movies section. I would also like to know if I can have different folders for my movies? probably not eh? I guess they might just have to be in one big pile. That's ok I guess. So what's with the music video section? It would be nice to put them there. I guess while I am waiting for a response I am just going to convert the music videos and put them in the movies section..
Also I would like to share what program I am using to convert the files .. it's called
    " WinAVI iPod/PSP/3GP/MP4 Video Converter "
And it works great! Someone on my Facebook account told me about it. I tried to ask people here what I should use but I don't think I got a straight answer ( either that or I am mildly ******** or something )
One more question. How to I put my pictures into separate folders on my ipod?
    Aaron

    Hi everyone !
please forget about the pictures question because I figured that out ok !!
I just need to know if it is possible to put my .mp4 music videos in the music video section of iTunes and my iPod. Like I said I want to just put full length movies in the movie section. And I would like to have my movies in maybe separate folders like I said. One for Anime, One for Animation ect ect ..
ALSO I am wondering can I make my Windows Media Player Classic the default for .mp4 files? I tried to do that but it was giving me some weird error message
when I try and make it the default for .mp4 I get this message
" Windows Media Player Classic does not have enough privileges to change file formats. Please click on " Modify " button To Get Administrator rights. "
Does this mean that only Apple programs should be used to view these files?

  • How to make audio (within a video) background music?

Hi: I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. I have video of a guy singing that is three minutes long that I would like to use as the background music for a video montage. The video montage itself is about 3 minutes as well. I would like to start the video montage with the guy singing, then make the rest of the montage have just the background music of the guy singing (without the video of him). How can I do this? Thanks.

That's how I'd do it, too.
Another option might be to just plop the montage on Track 2 at the appropriate starting point and not do anything with Track 1 (the guy singing). The video from Track 2 would be used instead of the Track 1.
Not sure what would happen with the sound though - don't remember if Track 2 audio overlays Track 1 or if they get mixed
Also not sure what the OP wants... is the guy singing supposed to be "background" as in you can still hear the montage audio with the singing as light background, or whether the guy singing is the *only* audio.

  • 5th Generation iPod - with Apple Video cable - can't view it on TV

    Hello,
I have a 5th generation iPod and an apple cable to view the video on the TV ... can't get it to work. Have sound but no video, tried adjusting all the video settings nothing working ...
    Any idea?

    Hello,
I've also tried to watch my video's on my iPod Video 5th generation on television, but it won't work. I can't see anything. On the iPod I've made the correct settings. I've used Apple's audio-video cable for an iBook and put it on a scart adapter and connected it to my television, because my television doesn't have AV output. It won't work. Any suggestions anybody?

  • How to synchronize audio track and video when transmitting by RTP

since the audio stream and video stream are transmitted separately on the network even if in a merged data, how to synchronize the audio stream and video stream at the receiving end ?

    camelstrike wrote:
    Hi everyone!
I've tried to make one of the processors, processor1, control the other processor, processor2, with processor1.addController(processor2) but I get a
javax.media.IncompatibleTimeBaseException. I need to synchronize audio and video rtp-streams because they are sometimes completely out of sync.
In JMF API Guide I've read:
"2. Determine which Player object's time base is going to be used to drive
the other Player objects and set the time base for the synchronized
Player objects. Not all Player objects can assume a new time base.
For example, if one of the Player objects you want to synchronize has
a *push-data-source*, that Player object's time base must be used to
    drive the other Player objects."
I'm using a custom AVReceive3 to receive rtp-streams and then I create processors for the incoming stream's datasource's, and they are ALL PushBufferDataSource's.
Does this mean I can't synchronize these. If so is there any way I can change them into Pull...DataSources ?The RTP packets are timestamped when they leave, and they are played in order. You can't change the timebase on an RTP stream because, for all intensive purposes, it's "live" data. It plays at the speed the transmitting RTP server wants it to play, and it never gets behind because it drops out of order and old data packets.
If your RTP streams aren't synced correctly on the receiving end, it means they aren't being synced on the transmitting end...so you should look into the other side of the equation.

  • How can align text with a video?

I recently received an .avi of a software demo with system sound that needs to be deleted from a customer.  I also received a .txt file of the text that should be spoken during the video.  The question is :  how do I align the text (both spoken and CC notes) with the video?  I need to theoretically be able to watch the video as I align the CC notes.
Let me know if you have any tips!
    Thank you ..

Depending on your version of Cp, you will likely need to convert the AVI to FLV before you can import it into Captivate.  At some point either before or after you convert the file you will need to remove the current sound track.  If you want Closed Captioning in Captivate to synch with the audio then you will need the audio file to be inserted as Slide Audio.
Getting Slide Audio to synch perfectly with an Event Video or Multi-Slide video can be tricky and unreliable because it depends a lot on factors outside your control such as the end user's PC and how well it can decode video as well as how much bandwith they have for the download to happen quickly.

  • If I put audio in my video the blocks are visible but not the waves?

I can't get the wave visible by using moderation under clip, but it cost a lot of time to do them all that way and it isn't music but spoken word. My video's are mostly one and a half hour or longer. But on the end I have a tune, and after use it by two or three video's the music disappears, unless there is music in it. How is this possible? Do I have everytime to restart the program to undo it?
Is it possible that this can be repaired, because this way it cost loads of time and I do have a lot of video's to work out with.
I ask this question also in my own language(Dutch), but this seems to be an English spoken-forum.

    Hans
Thanks for the reply. I think that I am losing something in the details going between Dutch and English and Dutch. We may be using different terms for the same feature.
About Time Lapse....you can still create Time Lapse video in Premiere Elements 13....the essentials are images in series that you drag to the Timeline and take the file duration of each image down to 5 to 1 frame. (0.2 second to 0.04 second).
See ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: Time Lapse Video Basics
I think that I have figured out what you meant by "moderation" and the rest of that. Are you trying to create Narration clips to go along with your videos and photos on the Timeline? Is that your "spoken word" .mp3? If you create narration clips with the Premiere Elements Narration Tool (Tools Menu/Narration), the narration clip is created as .wav file, and it gets automatically placed at the position of the Timeline Indicator on the Timeline. See screenshot for the Narration dialog that you see after clicking on Tools Menu/Narration.
Look to the left in the Narration Track to where it says Narration. To the left of that is a microphone. If you click on that, one tap at a time, you bring up the waveform that you see in the screenshot or just a view of straight black line. Those choices are called audio track display styles.
Please review and consider the above, and then let me know if I have targeted the information you are seeking. If we are not in sync yet, please let me know.
    Thank you.

  • How to attach audio back to video

I'm sorry again for maybe simple questions. I know how to detach audio from video. But after working in the audio clip, how do I put it back (attach it) to the origninal video clip. There is really no suggestion in the help function.
Second question. After I've detached audio from video, how do I unlink them from eachother so I can move either audio or video seperatly to another part on the timeline. Thx again, Pim

If the audio is connected to the video and you want to move the video only, Opt-Cmd click on the edge of the audio underneath another clip to attach it to another clip before you move the video. Or, if there's a lot of audio use Opt-Cmd-up arrow to lift the video out if the primary storyline so it's not connected to the audio, then move it anywhere you want.

  • How can iMovie deal with iPhoto video better??

    Hello,
My 10 year old son has really taken a liking to home movie creation with this digital camera recording video clips. The regular digital camera that records video clips by default imports clips as .avi into iPhoto.
He then uses iMovie to find those clips in "iPhoto Videos" in iMovie. He then creates the movies and shares it to iTunes to put on his iPod Touch. Here lies the problem. He is filling up my hard drive! His user account iPhoto library is 65g and he does not have a tremendous amount of videos but when I reveal in finder to show the details of an iPhoto video it shows the folder (year and month) and I see other related folders that go along with this video. Although his videos are usually 5 minutes he speeds them up or slows them down with other effects and I think that is swelling the iPhoto Library with some of these folders being up to 2g each.
    What is the best workflow?
I tried putting his entire iPhoto library on an external but when running iMovie some the the project lost links to the associated events. Don't forget these events right now are stored in iPhoto because it is from a digital camera, not a camcorder.
    Option 1:
Is there a way to bypass the import of video into iPhoto? Each time the camera is connected it imports to iPhoto. If I got a card reader and we took the SD card out and then imported would iMovie take over or would iPhoto still import if video and stills are on same card?
    Option 2:
Import normally to iPhoto, then manually drag video clips to separate folder and 'import' them into iMovie as separate events. BUT then we have to remember to go back into iPhoto and delete those videos. That would put the video into iMovie and store it there and not into iPhoto. What a lot of work?
    Option 3:
Buy a small Kodak video web recorder and will iMovie take those in as videos?
I am assuming that storing these things in iPhoto, editing in iMovie, is creating this clutter. Please advise if this is the root of my problem. Why have these relatively short video clips consumed my iPhoto library? I think it is the effects, speed up movie ( he likes to make the voices sound like chipmunks and speed the songs up) that is creating addtional associated file in the iPhoto library.
I think it would be better to run independently in iMovie and not have all this associated with clips stored as iPhoto Videos?
I have 4 gigs left on my 250 gig HD.
    ANY help would be appreciated!!!

Importing into iMovie isn't the problem. My pal seems to be under the impression that footage transferred from the camcorder directly into his PC using Vegas (which apparently saves it as .avi) is of higher quality than footage transferred to Mac via iMovie that's then copied for him as .dv files.
I always thought that since .dv is the native format for the camcorder, then that's the original, raw material.
So, my question is really whether when this guy is playing back and editing in Vegas, if the footage transferred to his computer directly and saved as .avi is really better and sharper -- or whether Vegas is simply is tweaking the .avi footage for optimal display in a Windows machine.
In other words, once the final, edited footage is saved, will a .dv file be worse than an .avi file.

  • How to fix audio  of a video captured from DV output of camcorder using Adobe Premiere Elements 8?

    Hello,
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 8 about one week ago.  I installed it and everything seem to work well in my first project.  I am new at editing videos but I was succesful in testing it by loading an existing video file in avi format from my computer and then doing some very basic editing (I splitted 2 scenes and added a title).
After my first succesful project (described above) I started a brand new project. Here, I want to capture a one hour video  from the dv output of a video camera. So I connected the camera to the PC and then started adobe elements 8.  Before starting the capture I only checked the boxes that said "capture video" and "capture audio" (the other 2 boxes that said download to timeline and autoanalyze were left unchecked).  After that I started the capture process.
After the video capture was completed, a small window opened at the bottom saying that a PEAK FILE was being generated.    After the peak file generation finished, I looked at the captured video.  The video looked perfect.  However the audio of the video was too fast. By this, I mean that the voices of the people in the movie were like they were speaking at more than twice the normal speed.  Or to explain it in a different way, they sounded like the  chipmunks.
So now I come to the question of this thread I started.  Is there a way that I can fix the audio part of the video I captured?  I will appreciate any help on this. Below I listed a few additional details in case this is needed.
    Thanks,
    ronel_8
PS.  Here are some more details about my system:
    1) Operating System: Windows XP
    2) I am capturing the video on an external drive with 40 GB of available space. The external drive is connected to a PC via a USB connection.
    3) Computer CPU: 2.4 GHZ
    4) Computer RAM: 1.25 GB
    5) Video tape is about one hour long.

    Hello Bill and Steve,
Your responses are very helpful.  Although I was not able to fix the problem yet I do seem to think from what you both say that my system may be too slow to capture the one hour video. In any case I will copy below more details about the system as you requested:
    1) Results from running Gspot:
The audio section of the Gspot window was blank. That is, no information was there.  The File and Container sections say:
    File Size: 12.6 GB
Note: 7.63 GB unneeded bytes at the end of the file
    DV Type1 AVI
    2) I did run the Gspot on another good avi file (captured to the PC with same camcorder) and says:
    Codec PCM Audio
    32kHz 1024 kb/s tot (2 chnls).
I suppose these are the audio settings from the camera.
    3) Yes, I am capturing video from a miniDV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U).
    4) I did not defragment the external drive prior to capturing the video with the audi problem.  So I will give that I try and see if it solves the problem.
    5) The external drive I am using is formatted to NTFS.
    6) The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400, CPU: 2.4 GHZ, RAM: 1.25 GB
    7) HDD Size=74GB and 11 GB of free space.  But I am downloading video to external drive that has 60 GB free space.
One last piece of information that may be useful.  If I open the AVI file (that I captured with Adobe Premiere Elements) with Windows Media Player, the audi sounds good.  However if I open it with Adobe it has the problem I mentioned in my previous e-mail.
    I'll aprreciate any further hints.
    Thanks again,
    ronel_8
