How to put microsoft silverlight on macbook air

I have a macbook air 11 inch and in order to access the inflight entertainment system on the Virgin Australia Airplane I need to download microsoft silverlight. I have followed the down load steps and downloaded and installed it on my macbook however when I go back to run the test page to see if my macbook is now compatible to run the inflight entertainment system is continues to say i don't have silverlight installed.
Has anyone come across this before and can offer a suggestion to fixing this. I think it is because the prossessor on my macbook is only 1.4GHz is this right? and if so how can I get around this?

Even if I could upgrade my previous version, I wouldn't want to as it would be a waste of my time during the learning curve. In fact I'm paying this penalty now in that I'm using MS Office 08 that my wife bought (3 computer version) and insisted I put on my computer to help her on her's. I was using MS Office 03 and hate the 08 pull down menus. Since I use the program infrequently, I find myself staggering around trying to find this and that when with the '03 version, it would be simply click and done.

I took away my backup disk with me so just took it from there excellent. I am back home at present working on my imac. When I go to use my macbook air on these projects (when away on boat) is it easiest to simply copy the Project and Events folders in total from my imac onto the other machine and do the same upon my return in reverse? When I do the cmd R and go through the process, it begins the restore process for Mountain Lion because I upgraded to Mountain Liion on this machine a few months ago. And it's asking for my Apple ID. If I do that upgrade, the buyer will have a version of Mountain Lion that is associated with my Apple ID and that won't work. Also, isn't there licensing issues in such a case? I want to restore the MacBook Air to its original factory settings when I purchased it in April of 2011. At that time it was Lion and not Mountian Lion. And I don't want any software on this computer to be associated with my Apple ID.

Are you referring to mirroring or you just unable to set up homesharing.

You do not mention it, but I will assume you are running OS 10.9.1.
Go to: Apple menu / System Preferences / Users & Groups. Click the padlock and enter your password.
Click the + (plus sign) and set up a new account for your wife. You have to enter a bunch of info. And then create the correct Login Options. Automatic login does not require a password from the selected user.
When that is done, verify the account works by restarting the computer and login as your wife.
Make sure that any applications in your own Users folder that will be needed are moved to the Applications folder in your wife's Users folder.
Now go back to Users and Groups, click the padlock and authenticate, select your own account, and hit the - (minus sign). This step cannot be reversed, so you might want to wait a few days before doing it.
When your wife is logged in, the App Store will know.
