How to put the caps lock key back on macbook

I took off my caps lock key to clean underneath it, and now I have no idea how to put it back together, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Not sure about the condition of keyboard Pantograph, though you'd better bring it to Genius Bar if it's fixable.

  • Anyone know how to disable the "caps lock" key?

I'm a klutz typist who needs to look at the keys when I type, and I often hit the caps lock key by mistake and have to go back and retype a lot. There used to be in the real old days a freeware utility to do this, but I don't know how to do it today.

  • How to get the "Caps Lock" key's original status in Redhat linux FC4?

I have realized it in Windows XP platform by
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getLockingKeyState(KeyEvent.VK_CAPS_LOCK),
and it works very well in Windows XP platform,
but it doesn't work in Redhat Linux FC4,
    and throws UnsupportedOperationException.
Anybody can tell me whether there is any other methods
to get the "Caps Lock"  key's original status in Redhat Linux FC4
    by jdk1.5.0_02 or later.
Any help will be greatly appreciated here in advance,
and thanks a million for your attention.

  • HP G72-B6OUS Notebook - the "caps lock" key

the "caps lock" key has come off the keyboard.  how can i have it put back on the keyboard or where can i take it
to have the notebook keyboard fixed???

    Hey arkay71,
If the key isn't completely broken, it should snap back in. Depending on the model of your notebook, it may or may not have a small metal bar that acts as a guide. Make sure to align that with the 2 hooks on both sides of the key slot, then snap it into place. If the key doesn't have a metal bar, then it should just snap it - make sure everything is lined up before you do.
If the key is broken, and the tabs are missing or no longer snap into place, then you'll have to contact HP support for a replacement keyboard: 800-474-6836

  • W520 & Windows 8 - Is it possible to disable the Caps Lock Key?

    Hello All:
    I have a W520 running the 64 bit Window 8 Pro OS.
Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the CAPS LOCK key on the ThinkPad keyboard?  I keep hitting this key by mistake (fat fingers, I guess) when using the laptop keyboard, and it is a PITA.
When I have the W520 docked and I am using an external (Microsoft hardware) keyboard, I can disable the CAPS LOCK key on the external keyboard using Microsoft's keyboard control panel application.  But, this application doesn't appear to support disabling the CAPS LOCK key on the keyboard embedded in the W520.
All suggestions will be gratefully received.

    W520 (4270 CTO), which replaced a W500 (4062-27U), which replaced a T42P, which replaced an A21P...

You cant technically disable it, BUT you can go to settings>General>Auto Lock - Never
The screen will never dim and you wont have to slide to unlock - but keep in mind this will drain the battery much faster since the back light is constantly on.

    Hi, BOSCO_LIN.
Here is a helpful article that will walk you through troubleshooting the issue with your caps lock not responding.

  • When i press the i key with the shift key nothing happens. I can get a capital i only by pressing the cap lock key whats wrong.

When i press the i key with the shift key nothing happens. the only way I can get a capital i is by using the caps lock key what is going on. Also from time to time my mouse acts like someone is sitting on it. this stops when i press the command key. i am using the lateist wireless mouse and keypad.

does it only happen with the i key?
if it doesnt then try presing shift first then i (or any key) second instead of at the same time.
if it only happens with the i key then what i would do is take the keyboard and mouse to an apple store and ask them if they will hook it up on their computer to see if it is the keyboard or computer.

  • Converting the Caps lock key to a "Fn lock" key

Who to do this with Automator or Applescript?
It would be nice of the little green light in the caps lock key also worked to show if the "Fn lock" key is activated.

  • Remap the "caps lock" key to "delete"

Is there a way to make the caps lock key work as the delete key? I have been messing around with keyboard layouts and in the preferences, but to no avail. Is there something I'm missing? I thought I had done this before.
    Thanks.

Okay, if anyone is interested, I was able to do this with a program called fkeys.

  • The cap lock on my old MacBook will not release.  Any suggestions

Cannot release the cap lock.  Live 200 miles from apple store. Will appreciate suggestions. Mary

What OS X are you running? You can disable the CAPS LOCK key in the meantime, as a workaround. Starting in Snow Leopard (10.6), you have the ability to manually set modifier keys...If you are running Mountain Lion:
System Preferences > Keyboard > Modifier Keys... > Select "No action" from the dropdown menu for "Caps Lock"
For 10.6 and 10.7 I do not know step by step off hand, but the instructions should be very similiar.

  • How do you turn off the Caps Lock key?

According to "Mac OS X, Tiger Edition, THE MISSING MANUAL," "A new button in System Preferences lets you reassign or disable the function of your Option, Caps Lock, and Control keys...." Well, I think the most annoying thing about my MacBook is that I keep hitting the Caps Lock inadvertently, and end up typing unwanted capitals. HOW DO YOU DISABLE THE CAPS LOCK?

Hello Niku.Go into System Prefs. click Keyboard & Mouse, Click first tab in the box "Keyboard",click bottom tab "Modifier Keys", select drop down menu on top tab "Caps Lock" and select No Action. Same expalnation as other answers.
    David.
I think I see the problem. I can get to "Keyboard," but when I click on it there is no bottom tag labeled "Modifier Keys". In fact, there is no bottom tab. Therefore, there is no drop down menu, and no "Caps Lock," and no "No Action". What I see when I click on "Keyboard" is only what I mentioned in a previous posting. Two sentences, as I recall.

  • I cannot get the caps lock key or the tab key to work.  Could they be broken?

I cannot get my caps lock key or the tab key to work.  This is a wired keyboard.  Could the keyboard be broken, or have I messed up some setting?

Very possibly however you haven't completed a profile so we have no idea what version of OS X you use. First thing to do is complete your profile, if you don't know how  please click Profile Update.
I am going to assume you are running ML, if so open System Preferences - Keyboard - uncheck the box that says  Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function Keys.
If that does not work then please reset the SMC and PRAM each 3x back to back.  You can find instructions by clicking Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets
