How to QA profiles

Hi
Lets say I've reated a profile. I starts using it and it's easy to see that the profile have some effect on the images where I apply it.
But I've been thinking of how I can check the quality of my profile.
When you shoot images for the profiling you take care of a lot of thing such as light, distance, focus, variance in aperature, distance etc These thing can be done more or less correct. This must mean that there can be good and not so good profiles.
I admit that I've not read the documentation in depth yet and don't know if this question is answered here.
But can any og you help me on this one. How do you/i secure sufficient quality in a generated profile?

There is no real quantitative test. What you can do is simply check with images shot with the lens in different conditions and at different settings. Check if the CA gets mostly corrected, the distortion doesn't look wrongly corrected and the vignetting is not over corrected (that's seems to be the most common problem with the profiles).

We have an existing 6.0 portal deployed to a fairly large number of users internal to our company. We have been activly developing for our next release which includes tabs and a few new custom providers and channels. The question is what is the best/proper way to migrate the users profiles from one machine to another?
The version upgrade will be taking place on a different machine than our existing portal deployment.
So:
v1.0 on machine A user customizations --> v1.1 on machine B
Can we just perform an ldiff export on machine A then import that into machine B, then deploy our changes?

IMO there is just one way that works:
- first step: look for running forms services (forms server or more), stop them
- second step: go to the registry, erase the whole key: hkey_local_machine/software/oracle
-delete the whole directory with forms.
Its brute force, I know; but it works within 5 minutes!!

Hi Ferly,
Cisco Jabber by default will fetch the image from AD using the thumbnailPhoto attribute once it is configured on AD.

Debug ? You can use SQL Developer, TOAD, PLSQL Developer for this purpose.

How many alert profiles needed?

I a user that uses two planning books, PB1 and PB2 with corresponding data views D1 and D2 respectively. I have alerts in both the books.
Now how many overall profiles do I need and how many individual alert profiles do I need?
I am thinking 1 over all profile and 2 alert profiles but the assignment in SDP94 per user seems to be unique. Is one alert profile and 1 overall profile enough?

Hi,
I assume both planning books are assigned to the same planning area. The idea of having different planning books is when you have different users accessing data from the same planning area. If it is just one user, then it is recommended you maintain a single planning book for that user & define 2 data views within that planning book rather than have the user access data from 2 different planning books.
Assignment of SDP profile to planning book is unique. i.e You can assign only one planning book to a SDP profile. Also, you cannot maintain 2 entries for a given user/planning area while assigning alert profiles to user.
My suggestion is maintain a single planning book per user, create 2 data views, maintain a single alert SDP profile, assign the planning book & data views to it.

Can anyone tell me how the Status Profile works in relation to BP's...
For example, how can I view a particular status that a BP has, and can a BP have more than one status against a status profile. Also what date/time details are set when a status is changed?.

Many thanks for the info. As with all these posts, you do your best to try and find out yourself, fail, then raise a question on a site like this. As soon as you do the answer(s) become clear.
I've found transactions BS02 which shows Status Profiles, and associated status.
The Order/transaction holds the status set and can be extracted using the FM/Program CRM_ORDER_READ and using the ET_STATUS table.
That's what I was mainly after.

The profiles are there, but they only display and are only available for raw images. The image that you are highlighting is either a JPEG or some other non--raw file format. The only profile available for non-raw images is the embedded profile.

UCS Central: How Global Service Profile match DG

I'm pretty new to UCS Central and I've got a rudimentary UCS Central question.
I wonder how Global Service Profiles match/relate to domain groups.
To what I've read so far we use different domain groups to apply different operational policies to differenent UCS systems.
How does this relate/interact with global service profiles?
Is there a way to make sure that some service profiles could be associated just to UCS servers belonging to one DG?
Or is everything which is related to global service profiles like MAC-adresses, policies and the service profiles themselves always at the root and therefore can always be applied to all UCS servers managed within one UCS Central installation?

Hi Dani,
Global Service Profiles fall under the Organization structure.     And the Organization structure/hierarchy has no relationship/dependency to Domain Groups.
So limitting visibility of Global Service Profiles/Templates to certain Domain Groups --- no, you'd have to limit them within an Organizational context.

This is a good description, but to add just a little more info. The
profiler adds information when a VI completes. This means that a
top-level diagram won't get the profiling info written to it until the
top VI diagram is completed. If you want that info in the profiling,
run the program to completion, then Stop the profiling.
