How to re-download a podcast

For some reason one of the shows I subscribe to uploaded a truncated file (8 min instead of 55 min) which my iTunes downloaded automatically; I deleted the bad file from my folder within my podcast folder. However, the show in question will not re-download.
Which file gets updated as podcasts are received AND is there a way (even if it is me manually tweaking the file) that I can find and delete the entry for the session in question. Is there a utility for this sort of fix?
The desired result is that after doing the fix, the next time iTunes checks for updates, it will grab the replacement file for that session.

If the show is in the iTunes podcast directory, you may find a link to past podcasts there.
If you added the show by pasting its URL into iTunes, try visiting the related Website and looking for an archive.
The third option would be to unsubscribe, then resubscribe, then just delete the reruns you don't want and click "Get" on the reruns you do want.

How to stop downloading a podcast that has already started?

Hi, can someone please help me with this. I accidently started downloading a podcast i didn't want. How do i stop it?

There is a button to the right of the name that looks like a stop square with a blue ring forming around it. Click that and it will stop downloading. If you swipe it and select delete it will kill the data (be warned tho, it will also kill that podcast selection and I don't know how to get it back!)

I think that in order for these shows to play in Firefox, you need the Firefox Shockwave Flash plug-in. This should be easily available for free from Firefox/Mozilla.
To add to Katrina's explanation, although the link you gave describes the programmes as Podcasts, they're not! It's a typical misunderstanding of Podcasts that we often see.
A programme can be made available as an mp3 file - but it's not a Podcast. In order to be a Podcast, it has to be available to a Podcast catcher and downloaded by a Podcast catcher. The purpose of the Podcast catcher, such as iTunes or juice, is to look after the boring bit of keeping a lookout for new episodes and automatically downloading them for you.
But, these Calvin Murphy shows are not even mp3 files, they're Flash documents and the only way to listen to them is online.
So the long and short of it is: as Katrina says, ask the show's producers to make the show available as a Podcast. Of course, if they have their reasons for not doing so, or they simply don't understand what it takes to be a Podcast, you may not have much luck.

So if I get this right you want to download a podcast in iTunes and then sync that to your iPod that is already set up to sync with your computer at home correct?
If so, you will have to enable the "manually manage music and videos" option from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes on your computer at home. Basically, this option will allow you to sync content from multiple computers to your one iPod. I'm an American living in a foreign country. When I tried to download NPR's Wait, Wait....I get a message I can't download them because they are not generated from the country I live in. What do I do? In the past I have downloaded 4 years of Wait, Wait.....

I'm not convinced that Apple's Store Terms of Use is relevant here, because the Store is simply a directory of Podcasts. The Podcasts themselves are not downloaded "from" the Store, or "from" Apple; they come from the host server chosen by the Podcaster.
However, there are two possibilities:
The country you are in. Perhaps it restricts the availability of Podcasts.
The Podcaster may have chosen to not make their Podcast available in the particular country you are in.
NPR's Wait Wait is available to the UK, but that does not mean it's available everywhere.
If I read literally, the message you mention; "I can't download them because they are not generated from the country I live in, that suggests to me, that the country you are in has placed a restriction that prevents any Podcasts originating from outside its borders from being downloaded.
You haven't mentioned which country you are in (perhaps for good reason), so for now, we'll leave it for you to decide if this may be the issue. Can you download other Podcasts that originate from outside the country's borders and in particular, any originating from the USA? If you can, then Perhaps it is the Podcaster who has restricted this. It does happen. Marina Orlova's Hot For Words continued to be available to the USA after it stopped being available to us here in the UK.

I have a iPod Touch with iOS 6.1.3. The podcast app was not working so I deleted it. I tried to download/reinstall from iTunes on my PC but it gives an error saying it "requires a newer version of iPod software" (odd since the app was on the device before with the same iOS version). I also tried going to the iTunes on the device but can't find the app there to down it and the iTunes app keeps crashing.

I recently tried downloading previous episodes of a Fringe Podcast through Itunes on my computer unsuccessfully so I then tried to do the downloads on my Iphone through Itunes. Again it was unsuccessful this time because the files were too big if I remember correctly..........anyways heres my problem......when I go to the download screen on my Iphone the 3 Fringe Podcats still remain there, 2 are stuck on processing and the other says waiting. I want to remove them all from that download screen but do not know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting the iPad and see if the podcasts will finish downloading, then delete them if you don't want them.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

How can I download a podcast when visiting the podcast's page crashes iTunes?

Several of my favorite podcasts (including The Nerdist, to name the most popular example) are no longer accessible through iTunes on my iPod. When I go to download new episodes, the "free" buttons only have text (the backround button image is missing) and the page doesn't respond to taps. Eventually (after 2-5 minutes), iTunes crashes. This started happening when I upgraded iOS to version 5.1.1 (9B206).
Does anybody else have a similar problem?

I've had the same exact issue on my iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.0.
I tried downloading The Nerdist with Tina Fey this morning, and I got the unresponsive iTunes. I could still scroll up and down, but the "FREE" buttons weren't fully formed. Couldn't click them.

When I subscribe to a podcast, only the first episode downloads (in spite of my default settings, etc.). Now I have to manually click on each little "cloud/arrow"
icon and download them individually. Before apple developers took stupid pills and created this latest version of Itunes (that everyone hates), I could easily download all episodes at the click of one button (I mean DOWNLOAD, not just LIST all episodes, which is all it will do now when you request all episodes).

It seems to work for me. Select the entire podcast, or specific episodes from a podcast or podcasts. Right-click on the selected items and choose New Playlist from Selection.
iTunes 11.x may hide the sidebar (along the left side of window). It looks and works differently from earlier versions (before iTunes 11), when the sidebar is hidden. To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. With the sidebar visible, it works (mostly) like it did in previous versions.

Hi, I'm a little new to podcasts, and I seem to have a question already. I want to download an old episode of a podcast without downloading all the new ones. Is there anyway to do this? All I see is the subscribe button, and if I right click the one I want to download all I see is Get Info, Copy, and Copy iTunes Music Store URL. Any help is appreciated.

I just spent an hour trying to figure out the same thing. Do this:
Subscribe to podcast.
Click "Podcast" on the left hand side of your screen(under the source heading). This will display the most recent episode of the podcast.
To get to the old episodes click the little arrow on the left of the recent episode to the right of the blue dot.
The old episodes will then be listed and you can either double click them, or click "get" and they will download.

What is your RSS feed for your podcast?
If not sure - what is the URL for the iTunes page for your podcast?
For the most part the stats reporting for your podcast are greatly determined by where you host your media files.
That is where a 3rd party host like Libsyn.com comes in - they provide you with your stats for downloads.
There is NO stat reporting from iTunes for your podcast.
