How to re-download Image Capture?

A couple weeks ago I was cleaning out my apps and deleating apps I never use. In my haste I assumed that Image Capture was one of the apps that I had downloaded for my photography business but didnt end up using. At the time I didn't realize that it came on the mac and was needed to upload pictures from my camera to my laptop. How can I re-download Image Capture onto my Mac?

SnapzPro does indeed co-opt that key combination when it is running and it runs in background. So, you need to quit the SnapzPro application to regain the other use of that key combination. It may not be evident to you that Snapz is running as it does not show on the desktop until you hit the key combination.
Alternately, you can go into Snapz Preferences and change the key combination that Snapz uses.

In Image Capture, a network printer / scanner will appear under "Shared". If it is hidden, a number will appear adjacent to it, representing the number of hidden devices.
If it still does not appear, try resetting the printing system: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
After you do that you will need to add the device again according to the instructions here:

Your other option if you have icloud and a mac is to use iCloud and sync them across through photo stream. The other option as jhappahc said is to use a usb and import the photos through iPhoto.

I want to ask how can I download images from website with Automator like here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQm7Xr9jY0w&t=85m15s (in 1:25:15).
I want to download these images to my downloads folder. Some things have changed and I can't find exact options as then. When I am trying to make it it shows "The action "Download URLs" was not supplied with the required data."
I am using 2012 late iMac with Mac OSX 9.2 (Mavericks).

There are two apps that I know of - and I would also swear that they come from the same developer, although they've different names. Both have free trials and both cost $40 (but both do 'other' video conversion as well).
One is WonderShare - I bought this one and it works very well for downloading YouTube videos as well as converting just about any file format you can think of.
The other is iSkysoft Video Converter (just noticed that it's now $36).
I tried them both and finally decided on WonderShare. Give them both a trial run and decide if you like either one enough to buy it. I don't know of any 'free' software that will allow you to download and convert YouTube videos, but perhaps someone else will come along and know of something...

How do I get Image Capture to recognize my iPhone so I can transfer videos to my MacBook ?

I cannot delete my old email from my Apple Discussions Profile.
I have an iPhone that is not letting me transfer videos I take with the Camera App onto my MacBook Air.
My photos transfer fine but the videos don't transfer at all.
I have tried Image Capture too and this does not even recognize my iPhone.
I have tried different USB cables and still no luck.
Even though one workaround is emailing videos to myself from my iPhone
this is not ideal because it compresses the files - thus losing video quality - and
it is super time-consuming because I have long videos that I need to break up into smaller clips
in my emails and I have almost 200 videos in all.
I think I have iPhone 5 but I don't know how to confirm.
Please advise.

Not possible.
The iPhone does not support saving email attachments outside of the received message.
If you want a photo attached to a received message available on the iPhone for viewing outside of the received message, and you are accessing the same account with an email client on your computer (or you can do the same via webmail access using a browser), save the photo outside of the received message on your computer, and then transfer the photo along with other photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.

How do I download images as actual photos & NOT just jpeg icons in Safari?

I can not get either Safari or Firefox to download images from websites, e.g. ebay items, as pictures----they only download as jpeg icons with a code name and then have to be opened in another app. In Explorer I used to be able to see the images as actual photos, which helped me when I was searching for a saved item in my files.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do know how to drop and drag photos/images off a website to my desktop, etc. in both Safari and Firefox. But they are only downloaded as jpeg icons, not as thumbnails. So if I save them in my files (I sell on ebay and have always been able to save both the text of sold items in Word and the thumbnails of the photos in Explorer), with Safari or Firefox they are only jpeg icons and in order to see what the thing IS, I have to open it. This means I cannot just look at my saved files and immediately find the item I am looking for by image. I want to be able to save images as thumbnails and NOT as jpeg icons. And, as we all know, Explorer has not been updated for Mac OS.

How can I reinstall Image Capture?

After doing some houskeeping among partitions on my eMac, my Image Capture application has lost the function for designating a folder to save images to. For one camera, this has meant that it continues to download everything to the last folder used before my housekeeping project - annoying, but workable.
But for another camera, it can't find a folder, but also doesn't allow me to select one. I've tried reinstallling from the CD, hoping that there was a custom install that would allow me to simply reload Image Capture - but I didn't see that option. I don't want to reinstall my OS! It's working great right now!
Any suggestions on this? Is there a download of Image Capture available on Apple's website for registered OS owners?

You might try just removing the plist files for ImageCapture:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ImageCaptureApp.plist"
Plus two more:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ImageCapture2.00039343a1a8 .plist"
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.ImageCaptureExtension2.000 39343a1a8.plist"
The ones in the By Host folder will have a bunch numbers in them which vary. The first is the pref for "what to do when you plug a camera in"--that is, launch ImageCapture or iPhoto.The ImageCaptureExtensions plist has something to do with sharing, you might remove it too.
The previous download location is specified in the "ICImageDownloadFolder" item of the camera section in the main plist. You can even edit the plist file to change the location if you want...

How do I remove image capture

Since I installed OSx 10.10, very time I connect a phone, iPad, CF card or SD card, Image Capture opens and tries to subvert my workflow.
How do I stop this?
Yes I know I can tell each device to do nothing. But with hundreds to thousands of devices this is totally impractical.
I need to tell ImageCapture to GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK. And I need to get it to obey me.
I do not have nor want to install iPhoto.
I have tried to delete the App but it claims it is essential to the OS, I cannot believe this. I can believe it is essential to Apple's marketing strategy, but I do not care about that.

It is NOT a component of the OS! That is very different to being part of the installer....

How do you disable Image Capture

When I insert a SD card in my iMac running OS 10.10, the program Image Capture starts. I find this an irritation. Does anyone know how to turn this off or disable the app?

Not sure but do you get a small triangular icon in the bottom left corner of Image Capture after selecting your SD card under Devices (top left), if so click and chose "No Application" - that's how you control on whether an iPad or iPhone opens Image Capture.

How to print from Image Capture Scan Overview

Image Capture 2.1.4, on Powerbook G4, with Mac OS 10.3.9, can take an Overview, low-resolution prescan from my scanner. I could then choose to print the prescanned image.
This allowed for a fairly convenient copy facility, but with preview before printing.
No image save was necessary or desired.
With Image Capture 4.0, on Macbook Pro, with Mac OS 10.5.5, print of the prescanned image includes the entire Image Capture panel (Scan mode, bit depth, resolution, format, etc.)
Why do I want to print all that?
Is there a way with Leopard to set Image Capture to print just the scanner image without the panel and without image save?

How do i download images from nokia 6350 w/o memory card?

I'm trying to download images taken with the Nokia 6350 camera to iPhoto using a USB cable. The phone does not have a memory card. I plug the cable in and select 'Data Storage' from the connectivity menu and then get a message ' Insert memory card to continue'. At this point iPhoto has started but does not recognize the phone as a data storage device. What am I missing (beside the memory card)?

Not a solution to your problem but during my Nokia days there used to be a application on Nokia website called 'nokia transfer' or something similar. I would use that and then import to iPhoto...sorry cannot give you a clue to your problem itself.

Canon 8800F Scanner--How to turn off Image Capture???

I have a Canon 8800F flatbed scanner, I have the latest drivers and latest copy of MP Navigator EX.
1) The buttons on the front of the scanner don't work.
2) If Image Capture is open, then MP Navigator EX scanning doesn't work.
Is there a way to stop Image Capture from trying to use the scanner?

Okay, a is true. This is what I said to select in my previous reply.
Regarding b, I find that when using the buttons on my LiDE 200, I don't have an issue if Image Capture is open, but then this application should not be open unless it is opened by you or a setting in the scanner settings.
Regarding c, I don't have to close MP Navigator for each scan. I can leave the application open and keep adding more documents using the Scan button on the scanner.
As for d, is this a Preference setting you are seeing in MP Navigator? I don't seem to have this setting...
3) There is no way to change the setting in Image Capture to ignore the scanner.
Considering that Image Capture is the default scanning application for 10.6, then it is not an easy task to ignore the scanner. But, if the application is not open, then it will ignore the scanner when you open MP Navigator or use the Scan button, providing you have the Scan Button set to open MP Navigator rather than Image Capture.
Because of (2) above, you can't do multiple sheet PDFs via the buttons, you have to use the on-screen software to add pages and finish the doc.
Like I said already, the button is working fine for me to add more than one page into MP Navigator. Maybe the setting you mention at d) is causing your symptom?

But all the code I've fouund and studied doesnt say anyone about downloading images. What do I need to be looking for to acheive this?

You have a URLConnection to the img URL right?
Open that connection's input stream (URLConnection.getInputStream or something like that, look it up in the Javadoc API: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/)
Once you have that stream, you can read its bytes to your heart's content, and write them to a file as you wish.
