How to re download Lion with Mountain lion installed?

I am currently using Mountain lion as a main operation system but I want to download Lion.
I have another imac to upgrade to lion.
However since my computer is running uner Mountain lion, app store won't allow me to download Lion.
I want to download the software since I purchased it.
Please help.

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . . so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

How can i download os x mountain lion
I want/need to upgrade my software but every time I follow the directions it says that there are no updates for my computer at this time. I got it back in 2008 and it hasn't been updated since and I need to new software for a project I'm doing. What can I do? Help please.

Notes are synched via IMAP. IMAP is a protocol most frequently used by email.
So if you have an iCloud account and have set up a @me.com email address, that's what is used to sync. For Gmail, that can be used as well, though Gmail's IMAP support has to be enabled on their site and their implementation is very nonstandard and can be problematic. Best is to sync notes via iCloud. -
Puzzled by changes in downloading images with Mountain Lion
Have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and am puzzled by apparent changes in downloading web pages and images. When I save a web page, it is saved automatically to the Documents folder whereas with Snow Leopard it woudl be saved to the Downloads folder. When I download images, they go straight to the Downloads folder without a dialogue box coming up on the screen giving me options where the image is saved. Some of the downloaded images end up in a 'Original Images' folder in the Downloads folder, some simply appear in the folder as usual. Also, within the Downloads folder, in list view, this 'Original Images' folder and any other folder I create does not have the preceding arrow which when clicked allows the folder to open in a list of the sub-folders or files it contains.Where can I find information on this? Or is there something wrong with my version of ML?
I get the normal dialog box box when I choose Save As on a Safari page. How and where I want it saved.
This function is controlled by Finder, so I think step 1 would be to reset your Finder prefs.
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash this file:
com.apple.finder.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.) -
Download delays with Mountain Lion
Hello,
About 30 minutes ago I went to the App store to initiate the download of Mountain Lion (upgrading from Lion). I can see that the process started on my desktop but I can't see that the progress bar has moved at all to indicate that it is actually downloading. I know it is a big file but I expected that I would see some change in the status bar.
I can see the circle with the Lion and "downloading" underneath but again it doesn't seem to have changed at all in the last 30 minutes. The same for the very bottom of my screen with the white bar.
Based on other things I've read, I know it's a long process but shouldn't I be seeing changes in the status bar?
ThanksThe downlaod is about 4.7GB. Depending upon your internet speed, and the traffic level at the MAS, you could need several hours to perform the download. I seem to recall someone once saying that they needed to let the download run overnight and still had to wait a few hours for it to finish the next morning, but I have no proof of that.

How can I find Lion to download it to my Mac Book? It has Snow Leopard and 4GB RAM but it the white plastic model and is not compatible with Mountain Lion. I have been told by the Genius Bar that it will handle Lion.
That underpowered model is better left on 10.6.8 for performance reasons, also the fact that it's dated and 10.7 will likely require you to buy alll new software to replace the PPC based software your currently using.
If you insist, then call Apple via phone and they will sell you 10.7 Lion and provide a link to download it.
My 2¢ is to save up for a new machine, as that one is about to kick the bucket, they only last about 4.5 years or so depending upon use/enviroment.
If your having problems with 10.6.8, perhaps some of the links here can assist, 10.6 is faster than 10.7 in fresh install tests.

The subject of buying/selling a Mac is quite complicated. Here is a guide to the steps involved. It is from the Seller's point of view, but easily read the other way too:
SELLING A MAC A
Internet Recovery, and Transferability of OS & iLife Apps
Selling an Old Mac:
• When selling an old Mac, the only OS that is legally transferable is the one that came preinstalled when the Mac was new. Selling a Mac with an upgraded OS isn't doing the new owner any favors. Attempting to do so will only result in headaches since the upgraded OS can't be registered by the new owner. If a clean install becomes necessary, they won't be able to do so and will be forced to install the original OS via Internet Recovery. Best to simply erase the drive and revert back to the original OS prior to selling any Mac.
• Additionally, upgrading the OS on a Mac you intend to sell means that you are leaving personally identifiable information on the Mac since the only way to upgrade the OS involves using your own AppleID to download the upgrade from the App Store. So there will be traces of your info and user account left behind. Again, best to erase the drive and revert to the original OS via Internet Recovery.
Internet Recovery:
• In the event that the OS has been upgraded to a newer version (i.e. Lion to Mountain Lion), Internet Recovery will offer the version of the OS that originally came with the Mac. So while booting to the Recovery Disk will show Mountain Lion as available for reinstall since that is the current version running, Internet Recovery, on the other hand, will only show Lion available since that was the OS shipped with that particular Mac.
• Though the Mac came with a particular version of Mac OS X, it appears that, when Internet Recovery is invoked, the most recent update of that version may be applied. (i.e. if the Mac originally came with 10.7.3, Internet Recovery may install a more recent update like 10.7.5)
iLife Apps:
• When the App Store is launched for the first time it will report that the iLife apps are available for the user to Accept under the Purchases section. The user will be required to enter their AppleID during the Acceptance process. From that point on the iLife apps will be tied to the AppleID used to Accept them. The user will be allowed to download the apps to other Macs they own if they wish using the same AppleID used to Accept them.
• Once Accepted on the new Mac, the iLife apps can not be transferred to any future owner when the Mac is sold. Attempting to use an AppleID after the apps have already been accepted using a different AppleID will result in the App Store reporting "These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID".
• It appears, however, that the iLife Apps do not automatically go to the first owner of the Mac. It's quite possible that the original owner, either by choice or neglect, never Accepted the iLife apps in the App Store. As a result, a future owner of the Mac may be able to successfully Accept the apps and retain them for themselves using their own AppleID. Bottom Line: Whoever Accepts the iLife apps first gets to keep them.
SELLING A MAC B
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
side.
4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
4. Install OS X.
5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
6. Shutdown the computer.
B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
Utilities window appears.
2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License. -
I've just set up boot camp on my MacBookPro with a freshly installed Mountain Lion and Windows 7.
I would like to read and write in both directions from drive to drive if possible. I've hunted around quite a bit to try and work this out, and so far I understand that one can write to or transfer files from one drive to the other with Paragon NTFS among other softwares.
I noticed when I looked in my system preferences the utility "Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X" came with Mountain Lion and it will recognize an external hard drive when I have one plugged in under "Available NTFS partitions:". However, it does not automatically recognize my NTFS boot camp partition nor does it automatically give me write access.
Is the Paragon NTFS that comes with Mountain Lion limited in some way?
Do I still need to purchase and download the software of the same name from Paragon to get the full write privilidges I want or is there something I can do to get the version of Paragon on my MAC to recognize and give me write priviledges to my boot camp partition?
I'm open to all suggestions to get the read / write access between partitions in my boot camped drive.
MacFUSE is also listed in the System Preferences of my machine (it also came with Mountain Lion), if that helps. I'm still working out exactly what each of these is supposed to do and how I can use it to accomplish the task at hand.
My boot camp drive does appear normally in other contexts and in disk utility it indicates that the drive is mounted.

For writing to HFS Paragon has theirs but probably give the nod to MacDrive there.
I never do an upgrade to a new OS over the old system, I backup (clone) and format the drive with the new OS and do the install so whatever is there I know is clean and also to keep from carrying around leftovers from years and systems past.
I would assme Paragon is limited. Try their site and knowledge base?

I have big problems with mountain lion. you can not have a boot disk system I resulted in the need to re-download the os from scratch impiegandoci 8 hours, it is outrageous even with windows 95.
at least that the operator has confirmed to me that he called me. I also have problems with either the start of the mac with the power off. I can not understand if it crashes or is just very very slow.
Finally, I have a problem with the external hard disck. I often said to have been ejected incorrectly (not true) and I start to restore the startup recovery disk because disk utility is ineffective from the normal operating system .. is a shocking thing, but how you reduced. in four years it had never happened. seem to have windows or worse. Wake up.
I am an Italian, alas, and then I would like an answer to my language because my € are the same as German French or English.You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar

The iPhoto version available in the Mac App Store is only compatible with OS X Mavericks, that you can download from the Mac App Store. Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery. -

Upgrading certain AUR packages when specific official packages change
I'm having some trouble with updating. As many Archers, I use some packages from AUR. In my case, I'm using bauerbill specifically to update packages from AUR just like I would with pacman. Quite convenient (thx, xyne!) But I have some packages that
