How to re-install iPhoto?? on a LION OX

I just update iphoto and now i can not open it!! it says that i need to re-install it? but i do not have a cd, it came pre-installed!!
Any ideas??. OS is LION.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.

i upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer
    Or
2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
    Or
    3- the App store

From the Mac App Store, or an iLife DVD, or your computer's original disks if it shipped with a client version of Mac OS X prior to 10.7.

    How?

MacBook upgrade possibilities - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19577869 - "The Early 2006 model 1,1 Core Duo can only run a maximum of 10.6 Snow Leopard. The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody through the Mid 2010 White Unibody model 7,1 can run 10.8 Mountain Lion."
Why?  Good question.  I am a strong believer in not upgrading just because something new comes out, especially if you are running older equipment.  I would say unless you see a need for it, just stick with Snow Leopard until something comes along that absolutely requires Mountain Lion.

Ideally, you should clone your HD as Bimmer 7 Series explains.
However, if your computer originally shipped with Lion or Mountain Lion, a clone is not necessary to merely reinstall OS X. OS X Internet Recovery will create a recovery partition, download the installer package, and install it on a completely empty SSD or HD.
Even if your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, it may be eligible to download a firmware update that creates the same ability: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4904

How do I install Mac OS X Lion in my macbook?I already have it in appstore!

First off, dont call me guy.  Now when you launch the app store, hold down the option key and click on purchased.  You should see a dark grey button next to Lion that says install.  Click install on the other mac.  Make sure you are signing in with the same apple id that you purchased Lion with.  That should do the trick.

  • How can you install Mac OS X Lion on a new, empty hard drive?

If the only way to install Mac OS X Lion is by downloading it via the Mac App Store, it's going to be very difficult to put it on a brand-new hard drive unless Apple provides us with workarounds,So what should we do when want to install Mac OSX Lion on new HD?
    ThanQ

What you get from the Mac App Store will be an Installer Application. You will be able to transfer that Installer from Mac to Mac. I have not seen it yet, but we may also be able to burn an installer disk, we shall have to see just how things work.
Apple has always been known as an innovative company. And when they announce something new folks always go nuts with reasons that this cannot work. When Apple stopped making Macs with floppy drives and iMacs only had optical drives, people went crazy. Today no one makes computers with floppy drives.

  • How NOT to Install iPhoto 11, when installing iLife 11

With the very many issue's I'm seeing throughout these iPhoto 11 discussions,
Is there way to ONLY install GarageBand and iMovie from the iLife 11 disc?
I installed iLife 11 on a test machine (my Mac Mini) and I'm not happy with iPhoto 11.
BEFORE I install this on my iMac 24 (with over 24,000 real pictures, with tons of edits, keywords and organization throughout),
I'd like to NOT install iPhoto 11, while installing the balance of the disc.
    Possible?....How, please?
    Thank You, In Advance

In all fairness, when I stated that I don't like iPhoto '11, it was not because of bugs, or lost photo library's or issues installing. My install went perfect and without a hitch.
I dislike iPhoto '11 because I don't like the reduced functionality built into iPhoto '11. The elimination of features and the loss of a more productive and flexible application that iPhoto '09 is, over iPhoto '11, is why I'm not installing it.
Here are my four examples, at minimum. Of course, if you don't use these features, then like ladymac, you will be pleased with iPhoto '11. Like they say, ignorance is bliss.
    1) The elimination of Keywords under each picture.
This is huge for me, with over 24,000 pictures and growing. Putting the Keyword off to the side, and ONLY viewable one picture at a time is not sane. With an extensive use of keywords across 24,000 pictures, I can easily tag and find pics. But if you don't use keywords, or never used them, ignorance is bliss.
    2) The elimination of "exporting" to mail. This would allow you to re-size pics at your discretion. Attach more than 10 pics at a time. 20, 30, 40 pics or more are possible under iPhoto '09. And deciding NOT to use their stationary. OR to use their stationary. If you never had this flexibility and choice, ignorance is bliss.
    3) The elimination of TRUE FULL SCREEN editing and viewing. This allows you to view any picture without tool bars or buttons alongside or underneath the picture. If you never edited this way, again, ignorance is bliss.
    4) The color gamut produced under iPhoto '11 is off. I expect this is a bug OR Apple has decided that they feel the colors in iPhoto '11 are a better representation than those under '09. If you can't tell the difference, again, ignorance is bliss.

  • HT4178 how do i install iphoto on max 10 6.8 after putting a new hardrive ?in

how to install iphoto in max 10 6.8 ater putting in a new hardrive so i can put back my photos?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you purchased iLife on a disc or your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Applications DVD or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 and install iPhoto performing a custom install. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version.
If you purchased iPhoto in the Mac App Store, the most recent version isn't compatible with your Mac OS X version, so you will have to upgrade OS X if you want to install iPhoto from the App Store

  • How do I "install" iPhoto themes?

I downloaded iPhoto '11 from the App Store, now my themes can't be located when I attempt to create a book. I can see the themes in my Library folder - Application Support - iPhoto - Themes, there are about 343 theme folders in there, so how can I "install" them? How can I get iPhoto to find them? I see a number of people have had this issue, but as I downloaded the App rather than installed it from a disk, I don't have the option of re-installing it. Would be grateful for any suggestions or advice.
    Thanks

  • How to re-install iPhoto?

so I inherited this 2011 iMac at work,  The previous user set it up with things like trials of photoshop, coda2 etc.  now I have restored my timemachine account from a macbook air to the iMac.
The problem I'm running into is this... I am getting an alert in the mac app store that iMovie and iPhoto are now ready for updates, BUT i cannot update them because the previous user who no longer works at this company somehow connected his appleid to those apps.
can I just uninstall / re-install iphoto / imovie because I'm on the same machine? or am I stuck with an unupdatable copy?

Sort of... when I was issued the MacBook Air Gen 1, it was on 10.6 and was pre-installed with iLife (our helpdesk wiped out the mac from the previous user and reinstalled using the usb stick).  I then was upgraded to 10.7 (still had iLife on the machine).
I've been building in-house iPad and iPhone apps and now was issued an iMac (woo hoo ) but all is not well in mudville as now I have this badge over my mac app store icon to update 2 apps, which got registered to our previous developer... now I know I don't want to uninstall iMovie (I've actually used it for work quick edits of screen grab video) but I suppose I can just live with quicktime trim?? but I like adding things like notes on the screen introductions to the next person on the video etc...
I'm guessing I'll need to ask the company to spring for another iMovie copy???

  • HT2638 How can I install iphoto 6 on an older mashine with snow leapard where to get it

    Please can you help
I have an old whight mac duel core intell just installed snow lepard and now need iphoto but version11 will not work so ? can I use version 6

iPhoto '11 will work with 10.6.8 - as will iPhoto '08 and '09 (and iPhoto 6) - you can purchase any of thoses ilife DVDs that you can find on eBay on Amazon and install iPhoto or all of iLife
The App store only sells the latest version and it will not work on 10.6.8

  • How Should I Install iPhoto 4.0?

    Hi,
I use Mac G4; run Mac OS X 10.4.11 - TIGER; have iPhoto 1.1.1.  I just downloaded a free copy of iPhoto 4.0.  Is iPhoto 4.0 a standalone application?  Do I need to download upgrades to iPhoto 1.1.1 before I install iPhoto 4.0?
    Angel

Thank you Niel for your prompt response to my issue.
I did not download iPhoto 1.1.1 from Apple, I already had it on a second hard disk and copied it to my main hard drive a few days ago. I did not use it before because I didn't have a digital camera until now. I don't have iLife on any of my hard disks.
I did download a free copy of iPhoto 4.0 just days after I installed iPhoto 1.1.1 on my main hard disk, and I don't
know if I need any other updates to to bring me up to speed before installing iPhoto 4.0.  Should I just install iPhoto 4.0 and by doing so will it give me a standalone iPhoto 4.0 application?
    Sincerely,
    Angel
