How to re-install PPC architecture ?

I have recently installed and used "monolingual"
i used the option strip ppc architecture
I shouldn't have
I need to re-install the PPC architecture
Anyway can I without a total reinstall ?
Any tips please
thanks in advance

Hi FillBilly, The easiest way is to reinstall the OS that you are using, as knowing what files are missing can be difficult to track down. I'd just use archive and install. Not knowing what user settings may have been changed I probably would not check the Preserve User and Network Settings although you could try it at first and reinstall again if its shown that you still are missing files that you need. Stripping the PPC architecture usually means some system files could have been tossed.

How can i install mozilla firefox on my iBook G4

The mozilla-derived Firefox-based browser known as Tenfourfox does a fair job and is about due for code upgrade near the end of  this year from version 17 to version 24. Tenfourfox can run in Tiger 10.4.11 + Leopard 10.5.8.
    http://www.tenfourfox.com/
I have & use both Tenfourfox + SeamonkeyPPC versions in my PPC G4 Macs. (My third choice is iCab...)
These both play well together and can be run simultaneosly without odd effects, unlike what can happen if you were to run the original Firefox and then launch Tenfourfox; as those share resources. I use SeaMonkey PPC for my web mail login via google Notifier, and have that set as the default browser through use of Safari's preference settings. Even though my first browser choice is Tenfourfox.
You can choose to 'enable plugins' of stuff that by default is turned off in tenfourfox, for security reasons, such as an older no-longer supported version of adobe's Flash. However, video such as youtube content will often automatically work OK from most sites via Tenfourfox now.
    {There's also a seamonkey 'modern version' for intel-based macs w/ later OS X, not at the seamonkeyPPC site...}
    Good luck & happy computing!

Using a G5 with Lion 10.7.4. Using boot camp have installed windows 7 in an equal partition and it appears to be running alright. Problem--no sound.
My Lion install was from a online download. Since then have made a bootable usb. How do I install the windows service preferences from Lion?

Not on a G5 because a G5 is a PPC machine and won't run anything past Leopard.

I just bought a Macbook Air and a usb super dive.  How do I install MS Office 2003 on it?  It won't launch the install when I load the disk in the superdrive.

A 2003 MS office sounds like a Windows version.  A 2004 MS Office that was Mac compatible can not be run natively on a new MBA since the Lions do not run PPC applications.  You will have to get a newer edition of MS Office that is compatible with your new MBA.

  • How do I install updated Flash drive? It seems to require OSX 12.

How do I install the latest version of Adobe Flash Drive ??  It seems to require a12.1 version and I have a 10.68.  How do I expand to a 12.1 ??

First, you have posted in a PPC forum, but your profile shows you have Snow Leopard installed. That requires an Intel Mac.
If you have a PPC then you cannot upgrade Adobe Flash from where you are. If you have an Intel Mac you will have to upgrade to Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77.

  • How can I install the CCMS tool??

    Hi,
I want to configure the CCMS tool but I don't know how.... I want to install it in the development environment to make some test and then install it on QA and production environment because right know I don't have a Solution Manager or something like that to install the CCMS and use it like the central monitoring system.
Someone of u know how can I install it one by one in that systems?
Thanks a lot people for your help!

    Hi,
You need to implement CCMS in all the system(DEV, QA  & Prod) separately. We have implemented CCMS separately in our landscape(without Solman)
If you dont have solman  & want to implement CCMS then please follow method:-
Backgroud:- In the monitoring architecture, we can react automatically to an alert using auto-reaction methods. These methods are automatically started in the case of an alert and by default are executed in the system in which the alert occurs.
    Defining an Automatic Alert Notification:-
With the monitoring architecture, auto-reaction methods can be defined that are automatically executed when alerts occur. The method CCMS_OnAlert_Email can be assigned to MTE classes in SAP system. If an alert occurs in this MTE class, the information is sent by e-mail.
CCMS_OnAlert_Email can automatically send an e-mail to the following addressees:
u2022        A Business Workplace user in client 000
    u2022        An external e-mail address
The auto-reaction method for sending the e-mail is started at most five minutes after the alert occurs. However, there can be a delay before the e-mail is sent to external e-mail addresses (that is, addresses of users that are not defined in client 000 of the same SAP system), depending on the settings in SAPConnect.
The message text contains the same information that is displayed in the Alert Monitor:
u2022        Description of the problem that exists
u2022        Time and location at which the problem occurred
u2022        Severity and colour of the alert
    Prerequisites:-
SAPConnect must be configured in client 000, if the message is to be sent to an external address.
    Procedure:-
Choose CCMS ® Configuration ® Alert Monitor, or call transaction RZ21.
In the Methods group box, select Method Definitions and choose Display Overview.
Select the method CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 and choose Edit Data.
Choose change mode with the Display « Change pushbutton, and choose the
    Parameters tab page.
Fill out the fields as follows:
    Parameter     Meaning
SENDER     SAP username of the person in whose name the e-mail is sent  Alert Monitor.
u2022     Start the desired monitor from the list by double-clicking it.
u2022     Select the desired node and choose Properties.
u2022     The Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen appears. The rest of the procedure depends on whether the analysis method need to be assigned only to this node or to the entire MTE Class.
u2022     Choose the Methods tab page and then choose the Method Assignment button.
u2022     The Monitoring: Methods screen appears. Choose change mode with the Display « Change button, and choose the Auto-Reaction tab page.
u2022     In the Method Assignment group box, choose the Method Name radio button and enter CCMS_OnAlert_Email_V2 in the associated field.
    u2022     Save the entries.

Troubleshooting of the configuration of CCMS On Alert Email:-
    1.     The SAP Connect configuration in 000 client
    2.     Check the recipient & sender e-mail id is configured(attached to a user id) in client 000
    3.     Simulate the CCMS alert and check the Sap Connect trace
    Completing the Alerts:-
The alerts are completed after checking the alert. Basis Team needds to complete the alerts
    Deleting old  CCMS alerts:-
You can use program RSALDBRG to delete old alerts.
    Hope this helps.

  • PPC architecture - Monolingual woes

White trying to save space on my MacBook Pro, I deleted the PPC architecture using Monolingual in addition to several languages I would never use. Then the following happened -
    1. Office 2004 stopped working - uninstalled it and cannot re-install it - installation icon just bounces on dock and quits.
    2. Photoshop CS3 - Installs but icon just bounces and does not open
Is there any way to restore the PPC architecture without having to re-install OS X all over again ?
If I do start re-installing (last case scenario), can I directly upgrade from 10.4.5 to the existing 10.4.8 or do I have to download each and every update ?
MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB SDRAM

Big mistake. By doing what you've done there's no alternative but to erase and install. There is no recovery (as the warning said when you used Monolingual.)
You can directly upgrade to 10.4.8 by simply downloading the 10.4.8 Combo (Intel) updater from Apple's download site. Or just run Software Update. It will provide all the required updates including 10.4.8 Combo updater.

how can I install microsoft office or any other product that requires dos

You are showing 10.6.7. You should be able to run any Office PPC/Mac Compatible version (e.g. Office 2004) with Rosetta in Snow Leopard.
As noted, you can't run a Windows version except on a Windows partition.

  • Stupid mistake..Can i restore the PPC architecture??

Stupid mistake on my part. Used monolingual to clean up some stuff and i deleted my PPC architectures. Doing so also erases the Rosetta capability. Is there a way to recover this without doing a full install?? If not will an archive and install work? I would prefer not to have to reinstall all my personal stuff. Any suggestions?

As soon as you restart the system, I suspect your PPC applications will no longer run. The full effect of the deletion has not taken effect, because much of that stuff may already be loaded into the system.
I am absolutely against running Monolingual or anything like that. The risk of a Software Update getting wonky is just too great. Another risk is that a future update to the OS or an application will require something you deleted long ago.
Buy a larger hard drive if necessary, or else you'll end up paying an expert when something fails.
If I have to do diagnose a system problem for a client, then do an archive and install, I might end up billing for about two hours. That's half the price of a new 100GB hard drive! (And my hourly support rate of US$52 is about 1/3 cheaper than other support professionals in my area!)
Whenever I install MacOS X, I use the default installation, with all the printer drivers and language support. We're talking a couple hundred megabytes here: less than one percent of a typical hard drive size. The risk of a problem down the line is far too great to try these tricks.

  • How can I install office mac 2011 on my iMac G5 without intel???

How can I install office mac 2011 on my iMac G5, it says I need intel??? thanks

  • Need help: I have G4 Tiger and want to install PPC G5 1.5 GHz

I bought a used G4 with Tiger 1.4 on it. I need to install 1.5 to get Vonage softphone and I am not sure how to do it, where to find it, if it can be done, etc. Can anyone help - in plain English - not techy talk, because I will not understand you.

I bought a used G4 with Tiger 1.4 on it. I need to install 1.5 to get Vonage softphone and I am not sure how to do it, where to find it, if it can be done, etc.
Well, Tiger is OSX version 10.4 In addition there are sub-versions such as 10.4.2, 10.4.6, up to the latest sub version 10.4.11 (note, that is an eleven at the end). The information you report doesn't really fit into this pattern so we need to determine what exactly it is that you have installed.
Jumping ahead, if by "1.5" you really mean "10.5" that isn't Tiger at all but Leopard. To get that on your computer you will have to purchase a retail (discs black in color) installer set of Leopard from Apple online, from a retailer near you, or used. If you buy used make certain it is the black retail set of discs, not gray ones as those will not install on your computer.
One other thing added in edit. You say, "I have G4 Tiger and want to install PPC G5 1.5 GHz" A G4 is one kind of computer, a G5 is another. I think at this stage it would help greatly to determine what exactly it is you have since that will affect what kind of systems you can run. Go to the apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Select "About this Mac" then "more info" Copy and paste the information in a reply but remove the serial number. You can paste that serial number into [this linked web site|http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html] and copy and paste the model information here.

    You can't.
Lion does not support ANY software written for a PPC Mac.
    Time to update the software!

  • How do I install windows from USB on Macbook pro 3,1

How do I install windows from USB on Macbook pro 3,1 ?
My Superdrive is far from super anymore, So I managed to make an extern drive with both Snow Leopard Partition, Lion Partition (Since I thought Boot Camp 4,1 would bypass my problem), and Time Machine partition, Since I got 1. USB drive that works.
    - My general issue is that Boot camp Refuse to see the USB drive - (Many "how to"´s though show how they install windows perfectly through the USB port, but they use airbooks!, and somehow the Macbook will not ?)
I fix that issue with >> rEFIt <<, that suddenly makes it possible for the Mac to see the USB drive, and partitions.
Which was very strange since I could use an extern HD with the whole installation to start up wipe the whole disk, and then use my extern drive with partitions to install Snow Leopard and get everything as before with timemachine. Very smart with timemachine, but very lucky that I have a extern drive that runs the whole system and that I made the partitionsdrive before. DVD-drives are the past!
Point: So the original system could see the Snow Leopard installation USB disk, but boot camp cannot find the USB drive ?????????
After rEFIt I booted and then I got this error:
    Starting bootmgr.efi
    Error: Unsupported while loading bootmgr.efi
I read it could be a problem with the Windows software, so I purchased an extern DVD drive, Used Disk Utility to make an image (.DMG), then used another program to convert the .dmg to .ISO.
Then downloaded a trialversion of vmWare fusion, and installed windows from the iso. Everything worked brilliant, except and that is why I want to use boot camp, Running windows in another program while running the mac system is a little hacky and slow.
Point: Nothing is wrong with the windows software, and windows runs fine.
I then downloaded the Windows DVD / USB Tool, reformatted a USB drive as Master Boot Partition, MS-Dos Fat partition, then after lots of struggling got Vmware, windows to recognise the USB drive. And installed the windows software on the USB drive, as all the walkthroughs recommend.
Then I tried for "fun"! to just install windows form the extern USB drive, and with rEFIt it will see the drive and start to do something, but then when it starts to boot, the screen just turns into black and nothing happens, and you can see the drive does NOTHING. (I think it is because I only have 1 USB drive and the Extern DVD drive does not get enough power, but again the mac refuse to see the USB drive unless it is a Snow Leopard installation USB-drive!
Well trying to install Windows Ultimate 64 Bit, which worked great in vmware, because that program installed from the .ISO file that I had on the desktop, but trying with Boot Camp did not get anywhere, what kind of **** program is this boot camp anyway!?, but then I try the new USB disk with windows made from windows, thorugh rEFIt, it sees the disk and then starts and then I get this ERROR:
    rEFIt - Booting Legacy OS
    Starting legacy loader
    Using load option ´USB´
Error: Not found returned from legacy loader
    Error: Not found from LocateDevicePath
    (x 9 times)
Error: Load Error while (re)opening our installation volume
The firmware refused to boot from the selected volume. Note that external hard drives are not well-supported by Apple´s firmware for legacy OS booting
(Hey Apple please send out a updated firmware that fix this issue?!)
So how do I do it ? - or is the only option to fix the partition running the system from the extern disk. Format the whole drive in 2 from the "bottom" and install windows and then afterwards install Mac on the other partition ?  Or just run windows on the mac and forget about mac software ? What a stupid solution...

There are strings in the pliist file to add other Macs so that you can use some USB-DVD drives.
This is 5 page thread, so a little more 'meat' to it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3410900?start=60&tstart=0
And on PC booting Windows from a USB DVD to do the install is usually a piece of cake, sometimes you just need to specify that USB in the BIOS boot order and sometimes select via F12 (or another Fkey) and that is it.
What you have here seems to be everything and everyone is excluded unless there is a  mac-model device ID string that specifies yes.  An unnecessary hurdle.

  • How do I install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings

I need to update my system, I realized that I need Snow Leopard (quiet late) before Maverick. My question is, how can I install it keeping files and all the data. I found this on Internet, does it work?
Install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings
If you follow these steps, the installer will replace your operating system if one is already present, but will preserve your account information and personal files.  You may have to reinstall some applications, however.
Insert the install disc (or the first install disc if you have more than one) into your disc drive. Restart your computer while holding down the c key. This causes your computer to start up from the install disc rather than your hard drive. When you see the gray Apple insignia, release c .
The Mac OS X installer should open automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to read and accept the license agreement and begin the installation. When prompted to choose a destination disk, select your preferred location and click Install.
When the Mac OS X installation finishes with the disc, restart your computer. After the installation completes, a configuration program may begin automatically if you are installing for the first time. You will need to supply basic setup information for your computer.
Update your system software to ensure that you have the most recent operating system components.  From the Apple menu, select Software Update... , and then follow the instructions on the screen. Often, you will have to restart your computer, and you may have to run Software Update multiple times before it can completely update your system.

That's why you need to back it up. You won't need to restore the backup immediately afterwards unless something goes wrong during the upgrade, but you'll need it later; the drive will eventually fail.
