How to re-set up WEP security on a WRT100

I'm visiting at my aunt's house and her Linksys was not working properly, so I reset it to factory default, and it's working now, except now I cannot seem to find the how-to page on how to set up the WEP security again (or another security variation...whatever is appropriate now for a home-based router). Can someone sent me the url for instructions on how to do this? And is it crazy to try doing this without an ethernet cable connecting the laptop to her router? Thanks!

For you to be able to set up the security, it is imperative that you connect a cable from a computer to the router. But this is just temporary unless you are finished changing all the settings. You can do it wirelessly, but you will have to re-login again and again to the set up page because you will be disconnected every time you change a setting. Please refer to the link below:

    where and how do i locate my wep security key

    The security key / passcode is set on your router. If you have an Apple Airport router (Extreme or Express), you would use the Airport Utility on your Mac (in Applications/Utilities) to configure it. If you have a router that was supplied by your ISP, the WEP key is often written on the bottom (and you can always ask your ISP). If you purchased a different router, you would have set up a passcode. You usually administer non-Apple routers by browsing to its private IP address, eg http://192.168.1.1 (or whatever your equivalent is; you can usually figure it out from your Mac's Network panel of System Preferences).

  • How do I set the compatiblity security setting to always be Acrobat X or later

    I upgraded to version XI. In version X, the Options/Compatibility was located at the top. In version XI, they moved it to the bottom. I like my compatibility to be Acrobat X and later for Encryption Level 256-bit AES. However, since they moved it to the bottom, if I add the password to open the document (Document Open), then add the Permissions to restrict editing, printing, etc. and then go to the Options and change the Compatibility to Acrobat X and later, it wipes out the Document Open and Permissions passwords and I have to go back and add them again. Why this was moved to the bottom is beyond me, but I find it extremely frustrating. Please advise how I can have Compatibility set on Acrobat X and later all the time or move Options back to the top without having to uninstall XI and replace it with version X. Thank you.

    From the menu bar select Tools-Account settings
    Click on the problem account.
    Do you have something in the '''Reply To''' field?
    If so delete it.
    You only need that field if you want the reply to go to a different email address than the one you are sending from.

  • How do I set up TLS security for my outgoing email

    My email spam filtering company uses TLS security to encrypt my username/password etc. SSL is the only option on my nice new iPad. Without TLS I cannot use the iPad to send mail which makes it practically worthless to me. I note that TLS was confirmed in RFC 6101 back in 1996 which makes it quite old. RFC5246 details TLS 1.2.
    Is there any way I can implement the modern TLS standard?

    According to that thread, there is no TLS: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1570953?start=0&tstart=0

  • Can't set WEP security, why?

    I have a Belkin 54mb Airport Card (seen in Profiler as Airport Extreme) in my Mac running OSX 10.4.8. The card works fine with my Netgear DG834G modem/router but I can't set the security option.
    I set the password in the 'Wireless Settings' page re-start after but when I key in the password Airport can't find the network. I then have to reset the modem to factory settings.
    Anyone out there using this modem/router who can offer any help?
    G4 466 DA   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   www.ardswe.com

    Thanks to those helped, thanks. The problem was this:
    When setting up WEP security with this modem, you use the standard 10 digit 'Hex' password, ex 1234567890 but when you assign this password to the Network and Airport on your mac you must prefix it with a dolar sign, (so the pasword becomes $1234567890), apparently the dollar sign forces the Netwotk Prefs and Airport to read the numbers as 'Hex' code, as opposed to just numbers.
    Hope this may help others who have this problem.

  • WRT310N - Wireless WEP Security

    Has anyone had problems setting up WEP security on the WRT310N router?  When I configure the router to use WEP, then I cannot get any of my wireless devices to connect to it.  If I disable security everything works fine.  However; I don't feel very comfortable without security enabled.
    Any ideas on what I need to do to correct?

    I made the keys very simple for testing...that wasn't the problem.
    I was just about to give up and return the router to the store...when I decided to try to a couple of hard resets on router.   After resetting the router...
    I finally figured out, that if I put the network mode on 'Mixed' (because I have wireless B,G, and N on my network) and set the standard channel on '11' regardless of whether the Radio band was set to 'Wide' or 'Standard', then I was finally able to get my wireless devices to connect.   This time around, if I tried to put the standard channel on 3 or 6, then my wireless computer would give me an error message saying my wireless network was not in range.   It seems Standard channel 11 is the one that works best for me.
    The only outstanding issue I have is that my Wireless-N devices do not seem to be any faster than Wireless-G.  They are receiving around 54 Mbs, same as G.

  • I want to set up WEP 128 security

    I am trying to set up WEP 128 security on an Airport Extreme base station because of one older computer that is not able to handle WPA.  The box says
    that this is supported, but the drop down menu for security settings does not show WEP as an option.  How can I get WEP 128 set up or do I have to return
    the hardware?

    Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
    Click on Wireless just below the row of icons
    Hold down the option or alt key (it might be control on a PC) while you click on the Radio Mode selection box and select the following Radio Mode:
    802.11a --- 802.11 b/g
    Now hold down the option or alt key (It might be control on a PC) while you click on the Wireless Security selection box and you will see WEP 128 BIt as a choice

  • How do you set the expiration date of a secure zone?

    I am trying to set up a form where a user can sign up for access to a secure zone for 1 year. How do I set the expiration date of the secure zone for them to expire one year after they sign up for it?
    I have tried using a hidden field named "ZoneExpiry" (I have tried "ExpiryDate" as well) in the form and set its value attribute manually in the HTML (with the format 13-May-13), and the expiration date always ends up being 31-Dec-9999.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I have done this.
    Have a hidden input field on form  <input name="ZoneExpiry" id="ExpiryDate" />
    Then have a function as follows:
    var dat=new Date();
                                                      dat.setDate(dat.getDate() + 365);
                                                      var monthname=new Array("Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun", "Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec")
                                                      var pretty = dat.getDate() + "-" + monthname[dat.getMonth()] + "-" + dat.getFullYear();
                                                      jQuery("#ExpiryDate").val(pretty);
    Hope this helps.
