How to read Disk Device Busy (%) in GC?

Hello All,
I got the following alert in GC 10.2.0.3:
Target Name=hostname
Target Type=Host
Host=mccmrkwbm007
Metric=Disk Device Busy (%)
Metric Value=95.31
Disk Device=ssd31
Timestamp=***
Severity=Critical
Message=Disk Device ssd31 is 95.31% busy.
Notification Rule Name=Host Availability and Critical States
Notification Rule Owner=SYSMAN
Unfortunately, the disk device ssd31 doesn't correlate with any file system on this host. How did GC come up with the device name ssd31?
Still researching in the documentation but thought I would post here just in case someone has seen this. I saw some posts about the documentation bug but that's about it so far.
Cheers.

I also saw under the metric Disk Activity the list of devices that GC can see...
They are all identified as ssd#... how do i correlate this with the friendly file system?

  • Ix2 how to read disk on PC

    What type of file system does the ix2 use with hard drives? For safety, I'd like to know how to recover data from the drives if the ix2 fails. I do not like the idea of relying on some hidden proprietary format that requires the ix2 to be able to retrieve my data in case of failure.
    I've looked on Windows and it lists it as some Microsoft RAW format.
    I've tried on Linux (Debian) and it says it some sort of RAID file system, but it still can't read it or I don't know how. Its not NTFS, ext2,3,4.
    Anyone know how to read the disk formatted by the ix2 from a PC running any operating system?
    Thanks

    If you found a reliable way to move the drive between devices that is up to you, but we do not recommend it or support it. If this is going to hold important data then you really should put in two drives in a raid 1 AND have another device with the data on it, such as the original computer, an external hard drive, or another NAS. Relying on one disk and hoping you can take it to a computer in the event of failure is very risky, if the drive itself dies or a problem when moving it the data will be lost.
    FYI, With firmware version is 4.1.102.29716 it will be in EXT4.
    We always recommend using 2 drives. If you have installed two new drives in an ix2-dl, it will automatically create a RAID array with the new drives.
    Changing the RAID Protection Type
    Use the web management interface for your ix2 if you want to change the RAID configuration on your ix2.
    Access the device console to manage your ix2.
    Click the Storage icon in the left column:
    Click on Drive Management in the main window:
    You will see an image of the ix2 showing the installed hard drives.
    To change the RAID configuration, click the Settings icon and select the desired option from the Protection drop-down menu.
    If desired, you can change the setting for Disk Write Caching, and enable or disable the periodic consistency check.
    Click Apply to save your configuration changes.
    Allow a few minutes for the RAID array to build.

  • How to read disk serial no. in solaris2.6 ?

    Hello ,
    I want to get the serial nos. of all the disks attached. Anyone help ?
    regards

    Hi, <br><br>
    You haven't said if you wanted to do this programmatically<br>
    or just using a command. Also you can get more information<br>
    out of SCSI disks than IDE disks.<br><br>
    1. If you are after a command, "format" is the answer.<BR>
    On a SCSI disk, once you run the "format" command, select the<br>
    disk you want and choose "inquiry" from the menu.<br>
    It will then print something like:<br>
    <pre>
    format> inquiry
    Vendor: SEAGATE
    Product: ST34371W SUN4.2G
    Revision: 7462
    </pre>
    On an IDE disk, choose the "current" command on the menu<BR>
    and it will print something like:<br>
    <pre>
    format> current
    Current Disk = c0t0d0
    <ST39111A cyl 17660 alt 2 hd 16 sec 63>
    /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0
    </pre>
    I am afraid that as far as serial number's are concerned, it's<br>
    the only sort of information you'll get though.<br><br><br>
    2. If you are after a programmatical way to access this<br>
    information, this is what you can do:<br>
    <br>
    For a SCSI disk, use the uscsi ioctl command. Check the man page<br>
    or uscsi(7I) and ioctl(2).<br>
    For an IDE disk, use the DKIOCGVTOC ioctl command to get the <br>
    v_asciilabel field of the vtoc structure. Check the hdio(7I) <br>
    man page for more details.<br>
    <br><br>
    Hope this helps,<br>

  • Disk device is busy

    Hi all ,
    We are in oracle 11gR2 in windows. Our cloud control version is 12c. I always getting alerts that disk device 137 is 88% busy or above 90%.  It happens specifically for this disk number and another one is 69. I looked up performance monitor in windows and i see that disk 137 in B drive which use for back up and recovery. I saw the live disk performance and i see that it runs oracle.exe and kfod.exe Can you guys tell me how i can find what is causing the high disk spike? if i get alerts at 6.00 am in the morning, how i can find what was causing the alert this time period?

    >how i can find what was causing the alert this time period?
    what does AWR/statspack report show is for 06:00 to 06:15?
    when do backups run?

  • How to add an virtual disk device

    I remember i have seen one doc describe how to add an virtual disk device in solaris system, but I forget it now, can somebody help me?

    not sure what you are trying to achieve...
    However you should not be referring to Luns via their logical device i.e. c0t0d0, but using the unique did device or the /global device. refer to scdidam -L which will list all the did devices across all nodes and map them to the logical device path.

  • Disk Utility - Device Busy

    I used to be able to burn and append CDs/DVDs using Disk Utility.
    Now for some reason my files are greyed out and when I do try
    to create an image to burn I get a Stop Sign followed by "device busy" -
    even though there is no disk in the optical drive. Can anybody help?
    Thanks/
    G-5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    So, you're using DU to create an image for restore, is that correct? Is the external USB, FireWire, or both? The "device busy" indicates that something's either linked to that HD or something's writing to it. SystemPrefs->Spotlight->Privacy and add the ext HD to the window, restart, and try again. BTW, more details would be helpful; such as, computer, OS, etc.
    Finally, why an image? You have to restore it someplace to ensure that it's a viable clone, since it's not bootable. I'd suggest using Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, etx. and make a bootable clone.

    Hello Nadiya,
    Welcome to the forums
    I understand you are looking for a usage report. The printer will print a test page and you can see the page count on that page, along with the printer information, such as your serial number, etc. If there is anything else you may mean by "usage" please let me know and I will do my best to help.

  • How do I read detailed device information in DAQmx?

    Hi,
    I'm developing an application using the DAQmx C API and the 6602 Counter/Timer.  I would like to know how to read more detailed device information using the C API, i.e. more than just the type, serial number, and whether it's simulated.  I have seen several posts about this topic, but none appeared to give a satisfactory solution.  It has been mentioned that the DAQmxGetSystemInfoAttribute() serves this purpose, but it's not documented in the DAQmx C Reference Help files, so I don't know what attribute values ( DAQmxGetSystemInfoAttribute (int32 attribute, void *value, ...) ) are valid, and therefore am unsure as to what information can be obtained by this function.  To be more specific, I would like to read device information such as pin names and function, number of counters, number and name of digital I/O ports, etc, so that the application could automatically identify and list the available resources (similar to the way MAX does as you go through the task creation procedure).  Is this possible with DAQmxGetSystemInfoAttribute() or any other function?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Serges,
    Thanks for your reply.  I'm OK with retrieving the device names, the question is whether there is a way to obtain detailed information once I have the name.  For instance, if I find (via DAQmxGetSysDevNames() and DAQmxGetDevProductType( )) that there is a PCI-6602 board installed, can I then call a function to retrieve details about the PCI-6602 (e.g. physical channel names, DIO port capabilities, etc.) rather than hard coding (yuck!) this stuff into the program.  It seems plausible that there might be a set of files somewhere within DAQmx which provide this sort of device information - if so, how can they be accessed?

  • How to get the partition number of a disk device

    Hi,
    I would like to check , given a path to a disk device ,its partition number,
    I don't want to do it through the path since then I will have problems with filesystem links and filter drivers.
    I would like to do it through ioctl calls to the device.
    the ioctl DKIOCPARTINFO isnt supported by all device drivers.
    does anyone know how to do this ?

    U can open the device and issue the following ioctls
    DKIOCGGEOM, DKIOCGVTOC, DKIOCINFO.
    See man dkio

  • My MacBook Pro doesn't accept CDs or DVDs anymore, but it did when I bought it 2 years ago. How can I get it to read disks again?

    My MacBook Pro doesn't accept CDs or DVDs anymore, but it did when I bought it 2 years ago. How can I get it to read disks again?
    My quess is that the new software just doesn't allow the disk drive to work. I would love an explanation why this doesn't work and some help getting it to work. It's really frustrating because I get a bunch of CDs from work and never get to listen to them on my MacBook.

    Make sure the discs are free of finger prints. The optical drive cannot read a disc with smudges and dust.
    Check Finder > Preferences > General
    Make sure:  CDs, DVDs, and iPods, is selected.

    How to read the MAC address of a BT device ?
    Thanks,
    Ionut

    I should've added more details ; I'm interested to find out, from an IPhone app, if a certain BT device is in the proximity of the phone. The verification involve checking the MAC address or the name of the device.
    Thanks,

    I don't know; I think the fate of the free worldrests upon the answer.
    Well, as long as the non-free world stays unharmed,
    it can't be so bad ...I think the "Axis of Evil" constitutes a group of countries that are just "misunderstood".
