an easier way would be to wait until iOS 4 and then download the free iBooks app... you can import via the file sharing feature in iTunes (same that the iPad uses), or open the file from an email using the "open in" feature currently found on the iPad...

Acrobat has an API but it is complex to use. PDF files are not divided into "lines" so this requires guesswork, fuzzy logic, and luck as well as detailed study of the Acrobat SDK.
Creating PDF:
You can Print to Adobe PDF programmatically. Limited functionality. Acrobat SDK describes how to suppress prompt.

Has anyone figured out how to read pdfs online when message says Internet Explorer stopped working?

I can't open any links to a PDF from within a website. Has anyone figured out how to fix problem of not able to read pdfs online? I get message that says I"nternet Explore has stopped working". ANY ideas?

Hi,
It may be that you will need to 'reset' Internet Explorer, but you can certainly check if this issue is being caused by an add-on as follows.
Click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, open System Tools and click on 'Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)'. See if Internet Explorer now runs correctly.

For the time that a PDF remains an email attachment, you can render it on the BB. Once detached or otherwise not an email attachment, the attachment service no comes into play...and you require a 3rd party app to render it. There are several. I suggest you search AppWorld and other search sources, compare the various alternatives, and select the one that best meets your needs. You will likely find the DataViz apps as well as BeamReader and perhaps others.

Depending on your choice of database software, it may or may not support the storage of binary large objects (BLOBs).

As I am finding out after installing OS Lion, several applications don't work: Microsoft Office (2004) and Adobe Acrobat Reader. I have download Pages and Numbers so that problem is solved. What is the solution for reading PDF documents? Also for making changes to PDF documents?

In Mac OS X 10.6 PDF documents open up by default in Preview, I can't imagine it is any different in Lion. If you have had Adobe Reader previously installed then this install may have been broken when Lion was installed (or is not compatible with Lion, very typical for Adobe to be behind with their development), so the default application for PDF files may have reverted to Adobe Reader 5 (which I seriously hope you do not still have installed).
You should be able to set the default application for PDF files to Preview (or what ever the equivalent is in Lion - Quickview?)
Personally I can't stand Adobe Reader, it's sluggish and buggy.
Unless you have the original documents that the PDFs were created from, you may require Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar piece of software in order to edit PDFs, I'm not aware that standard OS X applications can fully edit a PDF, though you may be able to paste snippets over the top of text and minor changes like that (then Print, Save to PDF, to generate a PDF from it again, although some PDFs may be locked and not allow this).

Hi! I'm making a little VB program that browses through a directory and lists all the .pdf files with names that conforms to a special format and presents this list as hyperlinks on a web-page. To make the list more user friendly I have tried to read the <</Title() by parsing through the .pdf files, but have found that to be slow and unreliable. Can anyone please show me how I can access the title property directly? I just want to read it. A code example would be nice! I have downloaded the API, but that is such a huge beast that I don't know where to start, and my WinZip program refuses to unzip many of the html files in there due to their long and complicated names (I have the newest winzip version).
Any help would be grately appreciated! Thanks!

I have to upload details from PDF document saved into C drive into internal table.
While refering to the programme FP_PDF_TEST_03,it actually upload the details into excel sheet.
in this programme "PERFORM download_file USING l_data p_xml." is actually uploading the details(Stored in l_data) into XLS format through path p_xml.
What i need is to upload records into internal table .But the fromat of the l_data is in hexadecimal(Ex : 3C3F786D6C2076657273696F).
I cannot read these values and upload into internal table
Do you know any FM which convert Hexa into xml format or any thing else so that i can read the details into my internal table.

I use iAnnotate PDF; im not sure if it will read your preview annotations so you may need to do a little research.

Well, the acroread command is boundled with Solaris 10, not with Solaris 9, however it can be easily downloaded from adobe.com.
If you are running a quite recent Solaris 9, there should also be a program called ghostscript installed, this program can display ps and pdf files, try:
/usr/sfw/bin/gs your_pdf_file.pdf
