How to rearrange iTunes songs in playlist?

Sorry you cannot easily rearrange i tune songs in playlist by dragging. How is the easiest way to change songs to different playlists?

Put them into the playlists you want and remove them from the playlists you want them in.
You don't actually move them anywhere (since a playlists is simply a list of songs from the library).
To reorder the songs, select the playlist and drag up/down where you want them.
You may need to select the first column header with the numbers.

iTunes 1.0.2 is +at least+ eight years old.
The current version is 9.2, and it's free.
If that was a typo, and you're using something more current:
In the iTunes preferences, change the import settings to mp3.
Then select the songs you wish to convert.
From the "Advanced" menu, choose "Create mp3 version".
When done, change the import settings back to Apple Lossless.
That's it.
BTW, this is the Logic Pro forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes.

How to manually add songs and playlists to ipod with new version of itunes?

So I didn't have any problem adding songs to my ipod nano manually until I updated itunes a few minutes ago, and found the settings completely different than previously. I can no longer just drag songs and playlists to my ipod. I have "manually manage music" and "enable disk use" selected. I do not want to sync my whole library to it. I have more songs in my library than can fit on my ipod. And I already have my playlists set up how I want them. Can someone help?

go to iphone, then on the page below click the Add To... icon on the top right.
then its easiest to view them by songs. and then you can drag and drop from them and click Done when finished

How to not add songs from Playlists to the library (duplicate entries)

In my iTunes library, I have lots of songs showing up more than once. When I right-click Get Info it seems this is because I have them on playlists that are also in the library. Songs in multiple playlists can even show up more than twice.
I know I can Show Duplicates but it would take me ages. Also I can't tell which songs are direct, and which are from a playlist, unless I right-click and Get Info individually (it probably doesn't matter, but I'd prefer to delete the playlist songs).
How do I edit the preferences so that this doesn't happen, and songs in playlists aren't added again? I looked around preferences and couldn't find anything that seemed to be what I needed.

...I'm not sure if you're saying that iTunes shouldn't be behaving like this, but it IS. I followed your instructions, selected Library - Music and clicked Show Duplicates... what I see is 511 entries, most in pairs, some triplets.
Here's an example:
Two identical entries (bitrate, files size, duration, etc., all the same) for Get Me by Everything But The Girl... clicking Show in Explorer for the first entry opens an Explorer window with the filepath:
D:\Music\Everything But the Girl\Amplified Heart
...clicking the second entry opens the SAME Explorer window with the same contents but with the filepath:
D:\Music\My Playlists\..\Everything But the Girl\Amplified Heart
So are you saying that the only way to eliminate these duplicate entries is to individually click each one and check if it's pointing to the original song file or to a playlist that includes that song and then delete it manually? ...for 511 entries? ... and how do I prevent this from happening with any new music I add?

How do transfer my songs AND playlists from iPOD classic to a NEW laptop

How do you transfer both songs AND playlists from an iPOD to a new laptop? I have read a few posts about this, but none seem to talk about transfering the PLAYLISTS. I understand there is a manual method since the iPOD is essentially viewed as a hard drive by a windows based machine/PC and there are third party applications to provide a more automated process.
So can playlists be transferred? If so how? Or will i need to recreate all my playlists? It is not the end of world, rather just tedious. Are there any "gotchas"?

I also have a similar problem. Lap top crashed - new lap top have VISTA (I know...).
Using my ipod as a external hard drive - I have loaded all the tunes onto a new folder on the desk top. I then loaded all the files into the itunes library and have upload them on the new itunes on the new lap top - all good. They are now on the new itunes library and my ipod
However NONE of my purchased items have been transfered. Issue is that the files on the Desktop folder will not show which are purchesed and which are imported from CD - how do I find and then transfer my purchased songs...

It depends exactly on what it was you backed up. If you made a back up of your entire iTunes folder that will have included the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). If that's what you did then copy the folder back to My Music and open iTunes while holding down the Shift key. You will get a box opening giving you the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. A MIDI file is a set of instuctions for making music. Play this note, then, for that long, on this particular instrument, with these settings. Multiplied by as many notes and instruments as are required. A MIDI file can be turned into music automatically. Turning music into the instructions to make it is, as far as I am aware, beyond the capabilities of current software.

Insert the stick into the USB port on your computer, and open it so it looks like a window.
Highlight the tracks you want in iTunes, and drag them to that window.
This procedure will put copies onto the stick without changing anything in your library.
(If you normally run iTunes in full-screen mode, make it smaller so that you can do the drag-n-drop.)

HELP!! How to get iTunes songs into Rezzila

Im trying to get a song from iTunes into Rezilla. I've tried looking for a program that will convert it into SND, but without money, i'm outta luck. So i've resorted to getting the song out of my iTunes library by using HEXADECIMALs! Since I've never used hexadecimals, I have no past skill or even how to use it. I was wondering if it was even possible and or if it is even possible. But if it is Please email me or leave a comment on how to get this song into REZZILA.

Rezilla, unless there's another program by the same name, is an editor for the resource and data forks of a file, and as such can have no use with an iTunes track (none I know of, anyway). It certainly cannot convert an audio track to some other audio format. Nor can you convert a track from one format to another by going into the track file with a hex editor; it just not possible.
I'm not aware of a free converter than can output SND files unless ffmpeg can.

Hi does anyone know how to delete multiple songs within a playlist on OS or Mac?? I have reached the limit in songs I can play offliine and would like to delete some of the songs that are on my playlist. For example the last 100 songs. On ios i think the only way is to edit the playlist by clicking on the three dots. I dont own a mac, but on windows you can hold control and select the songs you want to delete. Or select a song, go to the last song you want to delete, hold shift and click on the song.

How do I rearrange (organize) songs in playlists

You used to be able to move songs up and down (ie:organize) in itunes playlists. Simply click on highlighted song and move up or down to your desired spot in the playlist. With this new itunes that function is no longer available. Am i correct with this? editing a playlist does not enable this function.

With the playlist open, go to the command View > Show View Options. When the dialog comes up, set "Sort By" to "Manual Order."
Then you will be able to rearrange the order by dragging songs up or down in the playlist.
