How to receive an e mail notification when my Mac finishes a copy.

Hi there. I left at the office my Mac copying a big chunk of data from one HDD to another. I was wondering if is a way to setup my Mac to send me an e-mail when a task is finished, in this case copying . In my day to day, that would be a very useful feature.

You would have to search the iTunes Store to find such an app. I know of ones that do so within a room, but not wirelessly. It is doable with a remove computer, however, using Screen Sharing (sometimes referred to as Back To My Mac.) I don't know if it's possible with an iPhone to use it, however. But if it is then someone has probably written an app for it. You can do it from your office Desktop if it's a Mac.

A week ago, the Mail app wouldn't display any messages. After restarting the phone, it still would not display any messages, it would just quit. Then eventually it opened with messages displayed. In days past, a user would only receive one e-mail notification of new posts to a thread to which he/she was subscribed. You would have to visit said thread before you would receive new e-mails. Sometime during the last big change in the structure of the forums, this way of e-mailing notifications changed. Now I am bombarded with a new notification each time a new post is made to a subscribed thread. I may have ten or more new e-mails just notifying me of new posts to a single thread before I even get a chance to make a return visit. The old way was much, much neater. Any chance of a return to that?

I experience it even worse.
I receive Notifications and Digests for threads that weren't changed.
I mean to say that
-I post an answer to some topic.
-Automattically I am subscribed to that Thread (that's OK, I asked for that in my settings)
-I receive lot's of Notifications and Digest ALTHOUGH NOBODY ADDED A NEW POST TO THE THREAD. It seems as if the Notification also reacts any time anybody is READING the thread.
It seems obvious to me that I only want to receive Notifications (and Digests) of Threads that are altered in some way since the last time I read the thread OR received a Notification or Digest.
That is:
- new post added to the thread
- a post has been altered by one of the posters
- a Solved or Helpfull mark is given.
Hope Apple can fix this.

How do you get the mail notification like how you would get a message notification? I lock my screen and when mail comes it makes a little ring just.

Tourn on Notifications.
And you also need to be running iOS 5.

AFAIK, there's no way to enable any option for this. The notification should come to your mailbox within 24 hours of purchase automatically.

Get mail notification when mail app is closed

Just wondering if I can get new mail notification when the mail app is closed (closed by cmd+Q)
I knew this was not possible in previous versions. not sure about Yosemite.
It might be good to be able to get such notifications similar to imessage/facetime/calendar as those apps need not to be opened while getting notifications.

If you have a rescue email address on your account then you've checked the inbox and spam folder on that account as well, and you've tried requesting the email again ? If you still can't find it then try contacting Support in your country and see if they can reset it for you.

Since last Friday I dont't receive my iCloud mail anymore on my Mac. The iPad still works fine. I can't think of any reason why my Mac doesn't receive the e-mail anymore. Other accounts are still working.

I have just read a plea from some-one which sounds exactly like my problem. I could never get on with Photoshop Elements 8 so I thought that when version 11 came out it would be simpler...not to me I still have problems with the edit in progress...how do I know when it is finished and how do I get out of screens when I have finished???I have bought the book...got the latest version...have old CD's from my last attempts...but I am still battling with it.
Picasa on the other hand is great obviously not as comprehensive...maybe I should have just stuck to that instead of spending money I could ill afford.

No mail notification when a new R3 Work Item is available in the UWL...

Hi,
I would use the universal worklist(UWL) to display SAP workflow items in the portal.
However, we have also the requirement that the end-user should get an email when a new task (r3 work item) is available.
I connected the mail and i can send and recieve only when i create task from the UWL in the Portal.
When i receive r3 work items no mail notification is sent.
Please what is wrong?
Had somebody implemented this or any ideas how to do this?

Hi,
Its more on to the UWL side to send the alerts for the substitution tasks.
BPM doesnt have any handle once it hand it over to UWL. You can check the alerts in UWL to send notification to the substitution person so that that person aware of the task.
Another option may be check what UWL APIs provides so that you can read the substitution person in advance in BPM so that you can model a notification task

How do I turn off mail notifications?

I already went to System Preferences > Notifications and set Mail Alert Style to "none" and also unchecking notification center, badge app icon and sound options.
Despite taking these steps, the mail icon in my dock displays a "new email" light and dings whenever I receive a new email.
I don't want these things to happen because they are distracting to my productivity.
How can I disable this?

go to the mail app and go to the Mail>preferences and it should open up this tab
On the line where it says "New Message Sound" make sure it says "none"
- this will cure your audible "tap on your sholder"
On the line where it says "Dock Unread Count" make sure it says "none" also.
- this will make the red badge in your dock go away
Where is says "Check for New Message" I would not turn that to manual or the computer wont get new messages and you will have to fetch new mail yourself under the mail app "Mail>Get New Mail" and when you are in your mailbox you probably want to see your mail at that time. So leave the Check for new message on.

IPhone Mail Notification when Mail Read Elsewhere (not resetting)

I'm using the built in mail application with Yahoo Mail. I've configured Push notification and have Mail configured to place an icon badge indicating the number of unread messages. This works, mostly. Occasionally, it doesn't notify when I get new mail (but this is rare).
However, if I read my Yahoo Mail elsewhere, the badge notifiation remains on the iPhone. Yahoo uses POP. I'm not particularly familiar with the protocols and how they are supposed to work. Does the iPhone receive a notification when email is read elsewhere (or deleted or moved)? It doesn't appear that it this happens, as I often see out of sync email when opening my mailbox (until the phone catches up and resyncs).
Would turning on Fetch instead of Push mode be helpful? I don't see a method for enabling both (which might be a nice compromise).
Do other email apps do a better job? Is Yahoo Mail doing something wrong?

I wouldn't think that it's a desired behaviour, but could imagine that it might be a compromise due to other constraints.
Also, is this true regardless of the email provider? Same for IMAP?

Rare e-mail notifications when purchasing from iTunes Store?

I use various Macs machines (Mini, Pros, and virtual machines (VMs)) and latest versions (Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.7.5, 10.8.5, and 10.9.4) with their iTunes (various latest versions, but don't remember which ones). I noticed when getting free stuff (e.g., apps, music, TV videos, etc.), I rarely get e-mail notifications about my purchases. Why is that? How can I have Apple always send me an e-mail about them?

It's usually just when you add a credit card/edit a credit card. They do this to make sure your account has enough for a purchase. Small amts may be taken from individual purchases as well, but definitely not a full 1 €.
