How to receive WM_USER messages from other applications in LabVIEW

I'm trying to receive WM_User messages from LV and from non-LV applications. Using the VIs from NIs Windows Message Queue.llb
it seems to work with standard WM_messages only (e.g. 0x0200 WM_MOUSEMOVE). What I'm looking for is a way to receive
programatically sent messages (by SendMessageA from user32.dll) in LabVIEW.
Are there any ideas or hints?
Greetings
Steffen

I got it to work with
PostMessageA, message 0x8000. It works with occurrence drive or polling
drive. I used U32 for all the function inputs. I used the original dll
and LabVIEW 7.1.1. This, at least, shows that it works between two
windows in the same process.
Stupid me! Of course!
SendMessage waits for the message to be handled and the return value of
the message be provided by the target window before returning.
Apparently Windows has some protection built into SendMessage to avoid
deadlocks by checking if the target window message loop runs in the
same thread as the one calling SendMessage and in that case reverts
possibly to PostMessage for known WM_xxx messages and just simply
returns for unknown messages. If it wouldn't do that you would end up
blocking in SendMessage for indefinite time as it waits for the message
to be handled which never will happen since the thread handling the
message loop is blocking on SendMessage.
PostMessage always places the message in the windows message queue and
returns immediately avoiding possible deadlocks in this way.

  • I can call out but all incoming calls are going directly to VM with no signal that I missed a call or have VM. I can send/receive text messages from other iPhone/iPad/iTouch users, I am assuming this is really "iMessage." Is it apple software?

I have spent hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T. I went thought reset, on/off, etc, etc with both companies to no avail. Each company pointed fingers at the other....as being the source of the problem.
Problems: Suddenly ALL  incoming calls were going directly to VM with no signal I missed calls and/or had VM. I was also unable to receive all Text Messages...Oddly, I could send text messages to anyone (even non-apple users but I could not receive their responses)........then I when I got home I started receiving text messages from other apples users ONLY. I assume now - iMessage kicked in and I could text (send/receive)  other iPhone/iPad/iTouch users ONLY. ....yes, I could still (send) text messages to my husband's blackberry (he received my messages fine) but my phone would NOT receive his text respones.
Finally, I googled the problem and found this community where other people have had the exact same problems! One person said he "turned off 3 G" which was the solution for him....so I did the same and VIOLA! My problem  solved! Nevermind the fact that I pay for 3G and cannot use it....so here's my question, if 3G is the problem on my phone is this an APPLE issue or a NETWORK problem? Do I purchase a new phone and slip in my same SIM card and hope the same does not occur or do I get a whole new SIM card and phone? What is the long term resolution to this problem?
I am happy however to find that my problem is NOT an isolated incident and wish Apple or AT&T had told me this is not so uncommon because I thought (based on the baffled response from Apple) that this has never occurred before.  Where is Steve Jobs when we need him?

It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Can't receive group messages from other iPhones

Why can't I receive group messages from other IPhones? Apparently they can see mine, but I can only see the messages of the one friends who has a Andriod phone.

Your iMessage needs to be activated correctly.  Try looking here:

  • Can't receive text messages from other iphone users but can receive them from non-iphone users

I had to recently reinstall mavericks to my MacBook and suddenly I haven't been able to receive text messages from iphone users on my iphone.  I can send them but not receive them.  Recently I was able to receive a text from an iphone user who turned off his imessages before he texted me.  That came through. Of course, this would be difficult to ask every iphone user i know to turn off imessages in order text me.  I've also tried to turn off my imessage on my macbook, iphone and ipad and still can't receive them.  Lastly, I've also tried resetting my networking settings and that didn't help either.  Any suggestions???

I am having the same problem minus the fact that I don't have a Mac computer I just can't receive any messages from iPhone users and I can't turn my iMessage back on at all it keeps just turning it off every time I try to turn it on. any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • TS2755 Cannot receive text messages from other iPhone users.

My iPhone cannot receive messages from other iPhone users after updating to ios7. I do not have internet access on my iPhone. Sender tell me the message has failed.

If they are trying to send you iMessages, & you don't have any Internet access, the message will fail, as iMessage requires a data connection.

  • Cannot send or receive text messages from others

I used to be able to get texts from anyone, for the past 4 months I am unable to send/receive texts from anyone without an i-phone.  I also do not want to upgrade my operating system.

SMS/MMS are exchanged via a carrier's cellular network only. Contact your carrier.

  • Can't receive text msgs from other carriers

My carrier is Verizon, and I'm able to receive text msgs from other Verizon carriers. But my problem is that I can't receive text messages from other carriers, such as Tmobile. They can receive my text messages though. I have tried restarting, shutting down and reopening the phone. I've tried calling support, and I logged a ticket. Any idea what to do?

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
I would let Verizon follow up on the ticket you opened with them. Does the incoming text never show up at all? Were you ever a customer of another wireless company and either migrated to Verizon or bought out by Verizon (such as Alltel)? Were you able to get texts on your last phone or is this your first Verizon phone?
Let us know how the ticket goes,

  • Trouble receiving international messages from one specific number

I cannot receive international text messages from my dad’s phone who lives in the Czech Republic (Vodafone provider) since 12/2014.  There were no issues prior to that date, and he did not change his provider. I can receive text messages from other phones also serviced by Vodafone in the Czech Republic. I can successfully send text messages to phones in the Czech R., including my dad’s, and he can successfully send messages to other cell phones in the US. Simply put, every combination works just fine except for one direction from his phone to mine. I have iPhone 6+, iOS 8.3, and I am not blocking his number (Settings/Messages/Blocked). I troubleshot this issue with Vodafone, and they swear that his messages reach the US.  I deleted my dad’s contact and put it back, did not help. Any ideas what it could be? Thank you so much,Dudley

    Hey there
I’m sorry to hear you have been unable to text your dad! We certainly need to help get this sorted out as soon as possible. What we can do is research our systems to see if there have been any issues on our end receiving those texts. Can you please send me a private message by Clicking Here and include the following information?
    Full name
    Cell number
    Dad’s number
    Best time to reach you
    Thanks!

  • How do I get received messages from others to show up on my different Apple devices, such as my iPhone

How do I get received messages from others to show up on my different Apple devices, such as my iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch, etc. I can see their reply on the device I was using at that moment but not on the other devices even iMessaging is turned on. Is there a way to refresh to incoming messages when one picks up one of their other Apple devices?

    Hi there lkbluntzer,

  • TS2755 I received a message from my wife, to which I replied but the response went to her and others in her contact list. How is this possible?

I received a message from my wife, to which I replied but the response went to her and others in her contact list. How is this possible?

I have had a similar but worse issue.  I sent a text with photo to 6 friends and family members.  Their replies went to folks in my contacts list who were not even part of the original string.  In fact, one of the replies went to someone whom I had evidently called once but was not in my contact list. This is very strange.

  • Ever since I enabled iMessage on my Mac Airbook, I can no longer receive text messages from the iMessage people on my iPhone, only on my iMessage now!!  How do I get the messages to reach both iMessage and iPhone??

Ever since I enabled iMessage on my Mac Airbook, I can no longer receive text messages from the iMessage people on my iPhone, only on my iMessage now!!  How do I get the messages to reach both iMessage and iPhone??

We are suffering very similar issues when communicating from my iphone to a friend who has both iphone and iPad enabled.
As long as I reply to an existing text chain, then it is visible on the target iphone.  If I SMS the phone number, it gets routed to the IPAD!!   And NO, I should not have to disable imessage when I want to send an SMS!!

  • I am receiving text messages from a changing, partial number. how to I stop them? I have an iphone 5 with ios 8.3

I am receiving text messages from a changing, partial number. how to I stop them? I have an iphone 5 with ios 8.3 and use AT&T. I tried to forward them to AT&T but there is no way I could find to put the [email protected] into the To: field

Sign out of iMessage on the iPad.  If you are using the same AppleID on both devices for iMessage, that is expected behavior.
