Any ideas anyone or is this a common problem ?

Hello. Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I'm having the same one. My wife's iCal invitations are showing up in my iCal "Inbox" but are not coming to me via email. I discovered this while troubleshooting the issue just now...and saw that I had 10+ iCal invites for which I never received email notifications.
I never proactively check iCal, so definitely need to resolve this issue, as receiving emailed invitations is the only way they're filed into my iCal. Thanks for any insight!

  • How to setup Invitations in iCal on a Server

    Hi everyone!
Since some time now, I'm facing slight difficulties using iCal in conncetion with its built in invitations feature. So here's my problem:
Some how we're not able to send innvitations via iCal to some of our staff members. We have 15 staff members, all using thier own CalDAV Account on a SL-Server (MacPro). As you create an event an want to invite somebody, iCal often doesn't recognize the Person to be invited.
I know that iCal uses the adressbook app to find the people to be invited.
So this is where our second issue arises. We're using a CardDAV Account containing a serverbased addressbook that contains vcards of all employees, customers, partner etc. Each employee has its own Mac mini running Lion.Their adressbook app is set up with this one cardDAV Account. This way we should all be using just one addressbook located on the server right? (this is basically what we would like to have. A single addressbook located on the server containing every vcard we need. Everybody should have the permit to add, delete or modify each vcard contained).
Unfortunately all client-macs show multiple vcards of each vcard located on the server so that I suppose there's something wrong with the syncing process. Also, if someone creats a new vcard on its client within the adressbook on the server, this new vcard isn't published, so nobody else can see it or have accsses to it via iCal.
Any ideas where this issue could come from?
Back to iCal: as we add some staff members to newly created events in iCal, some staff members are recognized by iCal showing the ?-statussymbol, and some are not recognized showing a small lightning-statussymbol. This is an issue we'd likt to fix.
I have to appologize in case you don't get my point. So to make it more clear what we would like to come out with at the end, let me tell you our goal:
We'd like to have a single adressbook located on our server. Each staff member conntects to this adressbook via a single CardDAV (all members will use the same account), so that each staff member has access to the addressbook located on the server and is capable of adding, deleting or modifiying the contained vcards. If a staff member adds, deletes or modifys a vcard, this should be automatically updated to the server an synced to all other staff members.
After this is done, we'd like iCal to properly handle invitations. iCal should recognize all staff member by name and automatically adds its email address. iCal should invite the added staff member to the event, so that the invitee will recieve the inviatation within its iCal only.
If you have any questions regarding my explained issue, please feel free to contact me. This is a rather urgent matter for us, as we're experiencing these issues for about 2 years now...
    Looking forward to your answers!
    Regards,
    Moritz

Since you are showing more than 1 of the same user, I imagine that you have the open directory bridge 'Search for user accounts' enabled in the AB service.
The ? symbol is normal when iCal doesn't know where to lookup the user's free/busy details.
On the client side, perhaps 1 AB entry contains the info needed and the other doesn't.
Instead of typing the name in ical attendees, try dragging the entry from AB.
Try one occurence of a user, then the other occurence of the same user.
I'm thinking when you let ical choose, its grabbing the incomplete entry in some cases..
this might not be the solution, but hopefully puts you on a path towards it :-)

  • How can I print from iCal on iPhone and iPad?

HHow can I print from iCal on iPhone and iPad?

    Hi EScott,
This is an easy fix. You indicate that you get these emails just fine on your desktop, so they are not getting lost. They are just not making it to your iPhone or iPad. This tells me that you need to change the preferences of the accounts on your desktop machine. Each account will have a setting for what to do with mail on the server after you have checked it. The choices are to leave on the server,  or to delete it.
If you have it set to delete, it won't be there when you later go check your mail from your mobile device. Most of the people I see post here with email issues have the opposite problem from you. They check their email from the phone during the day, then can't get it on the desktop later. It sounds like your iPhone and iPad are already set to leave on server.
All you have to do is go into your mail client on the desktop and in the individual preferences for each account change this setting. You may also want to check how you have deleted mail set up. It also can be set to be removed immediately, at a later time (like a week, month), or never. If you have it set to delete it won't be in your trash folder.
    Good luck.

  • How to prevent invitations from being sent automatically by Siri/iCloud/iCal?

I have recently discovered, through a series of embarrassing events, that when I use Siri to schedule an appointment with someone, that person automatically receives an email from iCloud inviting them to my appointment. I do not even get a prompt asking me if I want to send them an email. These emails are being sent without my knowledge or approval! This can happen with a Siri command as simple as "schedule coffee with John on Friday morning at 10:00." I want to see an appointment in my calendar called "Coffee with John" at the appropriate time. I do not want to see "Coffee with John Doe" (last name added automatically) and have John receive an invitation by email. What setting do I use to change this?

    Hello Vtgolfr,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like the Calendar event that you created on your iPhone included your brother's email address. Before saving an event in the future, you may want to check the invitee field to see if his email is being populated by Siri when you create a calendar event.
You can find more information about Calendar invitations in the iOS 8 User Guide:

  • I can send event invitations from ical but can not receive them --invites go to another family member email

I am using Lion and everything was working fine -- until I got a new mac and set the older one up for my husband and put his user account on the old mac.
Now I can send ical invitations out and can get replies -- but if someone else originiates an invitation to me -- I don't get the invite on my new mac.  My husband gets it on the older mac I set up for him in his Ical.  We have totally different emails and when I click on the email name in the invite it is addressed to me and my email address but it comes on my husband's ical.
    I can't figure it out???
If I originate the event invite I have no problem getting the replies -- but when someone else originates the invite -- it comes on my husband's ical (with my name and email address)

  • Can't send invites from iCal/iPhone4s

The option to "invite" participants to an iCal event doesn't seem to exist in my options on my iCal for iPhone4s. I've checked the area where you set all the event info, time, repeat, etc...and there's nothing there about invites. Does anyone know why this option isn't available? Thanks

After further investigating, I've now chalked this issue up to the fact that I'm using a Yahoo based calendar that I'm syncing with my iCal on my iphone & macbook. For whatever reason, I can't invite a recipient to a yahoo calendar event, but if I were to create the event on an iCloud based calendar, no problem inviting. However, I had deactivated my iCloud calendars becasue they create duplicate entries on every date in my Iphone...ANNOYING!
Does anyone have any insight into this?
    Thanks

  • Sporatic invites from ical

I have my calendar synced with MS Exchange at work. After a meeting has been set up on the calendar, iCal sporatically resends the invite to the list of invitees. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a known fix?

I believe I have learned that the problem lies in that MS Outlook does not comply with the calendar standard, for which Apple is firm on.  I wonder if this means that you will find the same problem with Google Calendar, since I think they too are based on the same standard.
I have also learned that this has been a recuring problem for a long time.  Looks like that eventually MS fixes by making sure Outlook can handle the iCal meeting request - but I am not sure if that solution was also dependent on IT departments ensuring they are current with the updates and such (probably).
I suppose that means MS has not caught up to the Lion release (which probably was based in part on an update to the cal standard), or atleast the people we are dealing with are supported by IT departements who are not up to date.
I also learned that in the past there was a way to modify mail.script, but I have not been successful in doing that.  My failure appears to be related to a permissions issue - I thought I had done what was needed to give myself the permissions to change the file, but the changed permissions are not 'taking'.
There is also a 'note' in that script file that made it sound like it was no longer used (so why is it there?) - that iCAL requires the file to to be manually recompiled as part of the iCAL application complie.  I'm just learning about that so not sure.
Ran out of time to keep digging, but plan on picking up the shovel again later.
So I have no solutions for you yet, but thought I'd share what I had learned so far.
    Regards

  • How do i delete the Tuesday 9 graphic from ical invites?

How do you delete the "Tuesday 9" graphic from iCal invites?  Everytime I send an invite from iCal it gets tagged with this Tuesday 9 graphic, which is supremely annoying and very misleading for those you're sending the invite to.  Yes, I understand the signficance of Tuesday 9, but I'm trying to get past the childishness of that and actually have a functional iCal experience!
    Thanks...

This is in the Videos app ? If it is then you can hide it (you can't permanently delete any item from your purchase history) via your computer's iTunes, and it should' then show for redownloading : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
You can also turn off the showing of videos that are in the cloud via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos 'off'

  • Invite Email not being sent from iCal from a Google Apps calendar

    Hello,
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.5, iCal 4.0.4, and am attempting to do the following from a Google Apps calendar I have setup in iCal. Please note that it's not gmail, it's Google Apps. If that makes a difference. That being said...
I am trying to create a meeting invite from iCal. I am able to create the invite and add attendees with no problem. When I hit send (from iCal), the invitees do not receive an email notification of the event, but it does appear their calendar (both in iCal and via Google Calendar on the web). I need an email to be sent to the invitees that they have been invited to a meeting, not just to have it appear on their calendars.
When I create the meeting invite via Google Calendar on the Web the invitees do receive an email notification (as specified in their calendar preferences). The issue only happens when the meeting invite is created in iCal.
When an invitee accepts or declines a meeting via iCal I receive an acceptance or declining email. Just not when the meeting invite is sent.
Also, I am able to create a meeting on one of the "On My Computer" calendars in iCal, invite people, and a meeting invitation is sent as expected.
And again, the invitees have notification of meeting invites turned on in their calendar settings (as is shown by the fact that when the invite is sent out via Google Calendar on the Web they receive an email with the invite).
Thanks! Any assistance would be awesome.
    Aaron

That was actually my post on the Google forums
Here is what I have found so far (and hopefully some of my assumptions are correct, because we're making the full switch to Google Apps this weekend and I am assuming it will work after this). This is long, but I'm trying to be thorough. Also note that I have updated to 10.6.6 since the time I first posted my last message.
We are currently piloting Google Apps, so our primary domain (which I will refer to from now on as domain.com) still points to our old exchange servers. Mail is currently being delivered to our Google Apps pilot accounts the following way:
    1. User sends an email to [email protected]. This email is delivered to our old Exchange servers.
    2. Once the email is received on our old Exchange servers it gets forwarded to our Google Apps test domain (gtest.domain.com).
This seems to be an important piece of the puzzle as our primary domain (domain.com) shows up on the Google Apps for Admin dashboard as improperly setup (which is correct, because we're currently piloting)
So, in iCal I have my Google Apps account setup (I'm one of the pilot users) the following way. I added the Account as Google calendar in iCal, but once the account shows up it shows up as a CalDAV account.
    Under the account information tab:
    CalDAV
    Description: [email protected]
    User name: [email protected]
    Password: my password
Under the server settings tab (*NOTE: these were entered in automatically when I setup the calendar as a Google calendar)
    Server address: www.google.com
Server path: the path to my calendar.
    Use SSL is checked
Use Kerberos v5 is NOT checked
So, during my testing I was sending meeting invites from people who were in the Google Apps pilot to other people who were in the Google Apps pilot. When I was doing that, no invitations were getting sent.
I created a new email account on our exchange server ([email protected]) but did NOT set it up to be a part of the Google Apps pilot (this means that emails were not being forwarded from [email protected] to [email protected]). Doing this successfully delivered all invites, cancellations, and meeting updates from iCal!
From what I can tell there must be something going on (probably my own fault) when a calendar invite is sent from my Google Apps account, through our old Exchange system, and then back to our Google Account. My assumption is it has something to do with the fact that our MX records for domain.com currently point to our old exchange servers, and the MX records for gtest.domain.com point to the Google Apps servers. It may also have something to do with the SPF record which only allows emails from domain.com to be sent from our Exchange servers.
Those are just guesses though as I am not very knowledgeable in that area.
I hope this helps and I would love to hear about anyone else working on this issue.
