  • How do I get Image Capture to recognize my iPhone so I can transfer videos to my MacBook ?

I cannot delete my old email from my Apple Discussions Profile.
I have an iPhone that is not letting me transfer videos I take with the Camera App onto my MacBook Air.
My photos transfer fine but the videos don't transfer at all.
I have tried Image Capture too and this does not even recognize my iPhone.
I have tried different USB cables and still no luck.
Even though one workaround is emailing videos to myself from my iPhone
this is not ideal because it compresses the files - thus losing video quality - and
it is super time-consuming because I have long videos that I need to break up into smaller clips
in my emails and I have almost 200 videos in all.
I think I have iPhone 5 but I don't know how to confirm.
    Please advise.
    Many thanks

In Image Capture, a network printer / scanner will appear under "Shared". If it is hidden, a number will appear adjacent to it, representing the number of hidden devices.
If it still does not appear, try resetting the printing system: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
After you do that you will need to add the device again according to the instructions here:
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
Follow the instructions below Add a network printer

From the box the iphone came in:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.5 or later (free download fromwww.itunes.com/download)"
You will need Mac OS 10.5.8 or later in order to get itunes 10.5 or later, in order to connect your iphone.

  • Mtn Lion fresh Installed. Now how do I make iTunes recognize my iPhone?

I decided to wipe my HD clean and do a fresh install of Mountain Lion on my iMac i5 27". My question relates to iTunes and syncing with my iPhone. My iPhone is no longer recognized by my computer. I would hate to have to wipe my iPhone and start syncing again with a "new computer" (it's still the same machine but with a fresh system). I still have a back up of my old system and was wondering if there is a way around this. Is there a way to manually force iTunes to recognize my iPhone? Is there a file somewhere in my old backup of the entire system that could be transfered to Mountain Lion so it would recognize my iPhone? I hope someone out there has a solution for this. Thank you!

I did a clean install for troubleshooting and I wanted it to keep it clean, so Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant were out of the question. I wanted to transfer my iTunes library and purchases and to be able to sync my iPhone as before. Called Apple and the rep said the only paths were the Assistants or wipe the phone and resync with the new library losing all app data in the process. Sensing the rep may have been a bit obtuse, I emailed Apple and got a call back from another friendly rep who promptly emailed this to me:

I can attest this method works, and the key part may be this one:
If you backed your iOS device up to iTunes, back up your devices on the new computer or manually transfer the backups from your old computer. The backups belong in:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/

  • I recently had to reinstall iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so Im not able to sync my phone to iTunes.  How do I fix this?

I recently reinstalled iTunes, and now it won't recognize my iphone so I'm not able to sync the phone with iTunes.  How do I fix this?

It has been shown there are problems with the latest update of iTunes and Windows computers. What you need to do is remove and reinstall iTunes, and make sure that you follow the steps in this support document exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. If you do not follow them exactly, you will just compound your problems. Once you do this, you should have no trouble having the phone recognized in iTunes.

Make sure your iMac is on 10.6.8 or higher and your iTunes is up to date.  If it is, then restart your computer, open iTunes, then plug in your device.  If it still is not showing up, follow the steps listed here: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
