How to reconcile 2 lightroom catalogs in separate locations along with images and metadata?

I split my time between two locations where I need access to all of my images and lightroom catalog...  I've been trying to keep everything in sync by transporting new images on hard drives, exporting new updates to a "migration" catalog and then importing that along with the images when I travel back to the other location.  This works as long a I don't get lazy, or in a hurry...  which I have, of course and now I need to get everything back in order--as best as can be expected.
What would be the best way to do this?  I need to migrate changes in both directions...  If it was just location A to B, or B to A, then that's not much of a problem.  unfortunately, i need to reconcile changes from A to B and B to A...
I learned my lesson, but I still need to resolve this mess.
Any tips appreciated.
Thanks.

  • How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?

    My question it:
    How do i send an html file exported from muse as email blast with images and live links?
    I have designed a "website" in adobe muse and exported it as an html file. I am not sure how to send my .html file in an email!
    Best,
    Nicole

    Unfortunately, the answer is, you don't. The requirements for HTML displayed in an e-mail reader are very different than those for HTML displayed in a browser. The output of Muse won't work as an HTML e-mail. You could upload the Muse site as a website and provide a link to it in an e-mail, but the HTML generated by Muse is not suitable for direct display by an e-mail program.

    hello everybody
    is it possible to tell me how i can make program in labview that take pixels of black and withe image and give coordinate of black or white pixels back to me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here's a slightly simpler version.
    (Depending how you want to process the output, you might not need to traspose and/or reverse. Boolean to 0,1 works directly on the 2D array if needed )

    it is good. i could enter 1bit image in and show it in array. now i want to take pixels coordinates. i meen i want to have (x,y) of each pixel to send it pixel coordinate to another program i wrote for steppers motor.
    Can you be a bit more specific on how the output is supposed to look like? Initially you wrote "black or white", and since all pixels are either black or white, do you want to send all pixels? In what format? In what order? Please clarify?

  • How to package resource files for iPad app along with ipa file

    Hello,
    I am developing an app for iPad in Flash Builder 4 and Packager for Iphone.
    I want to keep my xml-asset files local to the app. When I run my app in flash builder, I load the resources locally.
    When I upload the same onto iPad, I need to package the resource files along with the ipa file.
    I tried compiling the air-project with "-include-file" compiler option, but in vain.
    Any help?
    Tanu

    You can read through the resources documentation for iOS here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/extensions/WSf268776665d7970d-2e74ffb4130044f3619-7ff8.htm l
    Of particular interest is the line:
    "3. It moves the resource files to the top-level directory of the application."
    So not sure if you are using an ant build script or whatever to build your ANE, but as long as you place these json files into the folder with your library when you build the ANE, these will end up getting copied to the top-level directory of the application when an application is built using this ANE.
    This is exactly how I include an iOS .bundle of resources along with a .a in an ANE and it works fine. Nice clean packaging when distributing the ANE too.

    How to I sync my 10.6.8 ical with icloud  and then to my ipad

    I find that I can sync fine with Entourage and I cal under Leopard. I can also subscribe to the Leopard I-calendar on another computer (running Tiger). However, the calendar will not go onto a web page as it used to; this is very frustrating for my colleagues! We need a fix here I think.

  • Can I move the Lightroom Catalog from one location to another?

    Lightroom by default, places the Lightroom Catalog in the Pictures folder on my PC. My image library though, is located on an external hard drive. I've read that it is better to have the Catalog at the same location to avoid disconnected images, which sounds reasonable. Is it feasable to move the Catalog over to the same drive as my image library, or will that cause a problem? In other words would I need to start over again and create a new Catalog on the external drive? I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I've learnt to my cost that the obvious solution isn't necessary the correct one.

    For better performance it is preferable to have the catalog located on an internal hard drive. By default the catalog and the preview files have to be located in the same folder since there is continual read/write taking place while working in Lightroom. Lightroom does not make any changes to the original files so its fine for them to be located on another hard drive internal or external. Lightroom loves lots of hard disk space to operate so if your catalog is on an internal drive make sure it not starved for disk space.
    However its ok for your catalog/previews files to reside on an external HDD with your original photo files.
    Your photo files can reside on a HDD conected to a network but your catalog and preview files cannot be located on a network.
    e.g I have my catalog / previews on the main HDD with my operating system with over 50% free disk space. My Photo files are on a secondary internal HDD with over 75% free disk space. I back up to external HDD.

    I know the two normally go together, but is it posssible to put the Lightroom catalog on a separate drive from the previews?

  • How To Record 3 People In Separate Locations & What Mics To Use?

    Hey everyone.
    I have a two part question. I could really use your help.
    Two friends and I are looking to record a weekly podcast. The three of us are in different locations. We all have Macs, and are looking to use Ichat for a conference chat between the three of us, along with Garageband to record the conversation. If you are familiar with Garageband you know this is a built in feature.
    My first question is: Can the three of us have a conversation via Ichat and have it easily recorded into Garageband? The second question is: What mics should the three of us be using? We want something simple (plug and play). A friend suggested condenser USB mics however one of my podcast buddies fears that the voice of the person talking at the time will get picked up by the condenser mics of the other two people. Is this true? And if so, what do we need to use mic wise? My friend is looking to use a headset type mic that would replicate what he uses at work.
    Please help. Thanks!

    Yeah I would also like to know the answer to this. I am thinking of creating my own podcast and have a nice microphone set up for my computer but the person I want to co-host is not in the same city as me. So essentially I need something that would be a conference-like program but that would also be able to transfer his audio at a high quality and be able to record it from my computer.
    Technically it could be done by him hitting record on his own recording program about the same time as me but then we'd have two different audio files which would be a complete hassle to match-up when editing.
    Blair.Harrington the answer to the microphone/feedback question is simply that you guys should all use headphones to listen to what you're each saying. This way the audio from what others are saying will not be caught/recorded by your microphones.
    As said above I think it'd be better to get a decent quality microphone rather than one attached to a headset. I've bought a microphone known as the "Snowball" which was about $80-90 but I'm glad to finally have a good microphone.
    Hope this helps. I'm also trying to find a good multi-location recording program.

  • How to get some version 3 images and metadata into version 4 catalog?

    I recently upgraded to version 4.
    Yesterday, I mistakenly opened up the version 3 icon and put in several hours worth of image work, metadata changes, and created a couple of collections.
    1. What will be the easiest way for me to update the changes to my version 4 catalog without undoing work that I have done in that from the last couple of weeks?
    Thanks!

    Backup your LR4 and LR3 catalogues, so you'd be able to get back to the current state if everything went wrong.
    Now in your LR3 catalogue, identify the images you've worked on (eg by selecting the collections or with a smart collection using Edit Date as a criterion). Select the affected images and do File > Export as Catalog. Save it onto your desktop.
    Open this exported catalogue in LR3 and review it. You may have collections you don't want, or other info. Then close it.
    In LR4, do a File > Import from another Catalog and bring in the catalogue from the desktop. Now, the danger is where you have changed the same image in LR4 in the last two weeks, and also changed them in LR3 in the last day or two. If so, then check the option to create new virtual copies and then resolve them one by one with Sync Metadata/Settings. If not, the imported catalogue will update pictures in your LR4 catalogue.
    Plenty of backup, and proceed slowly.
    John

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

    I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

    I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
    If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
    In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
    Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • How do I set miminum # of connections for pool with Oracle and Tomcat?

    Hi,
    I can't seem to find any attribute to initialize the number of connections for my connection pool. Here is my current context.xml file under my /App1 directory:
    <Context path="/App1" docBase="App1"
    debug="5" reloadable="true" crossContext="true">
    <Resource name="App1ConnectionPool" auth="Container"
    type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:oddjob"
    user="app1" password="app1" />
    </Context>
    I've been googling and reading forums, but haven't found a way to establish the minimum number of connections. I've tried all sorts of parameters like InitialLimit, MinLimit, MinActive, etc, with no success.
    Here is some sample code that I am testing:
    package web;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.util.Properties;
    public class ConnectionPool {
    String message = "Not Connected";
    public void init() {
    OracleConnection conn = null;
    ResultSet rst = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    try {
    Context initContext = new InitialContext();
    Context envContext = (Context) initContext.lookup("java:/comp/env");
    OracleDataSource ds = (OracleDataSource) envContext.lookup("App1ConnectionPool");
    message = "Here.";
         String user = ds.getUser();
    if (envContext == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No Context");
    if (ds == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No DataSource");
    if (ds != null) {
    message = "Trying to connect...";
    conn = (OracleConnection) ds.getConnection();
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("PROXY_USER_NAME", "adavey/xxx");
    if (conn != null) {
    message = "Got Connection " + conn.toString() + ", ";
              conn.openProxySession(OracleConnection.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,prop);
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT username, server from v$session where username is not null");
    while (rst.next()) {
    message = "DS User: " + user + "; DB User: " + rst.getString(1) + "; Server: " + rst.getString(2);
    rst.close();
    rst = null;
    stmt.close();
    stmt = null;
    conn.close(); // Return to connection pool
    conn = null; // Make sure we don't close it twice
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    } finally {
    // Always make sure result sets and statements are closed,
    // and the connection is returned to the pool
    if (rst != null) {
    try {
    rst.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    rst = null;
    if (stmt != null) {
    try {
    stmt.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    stmt = null;
    if (conn != null) {
    try {
    conn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    conn = null;
    public String getMessage() {
    return message;
    I'm using a utility to repeatedly call a JSP page that uses this class and displays the message variable. This utility allows me to specify the number of concurrent web requests and an overall number of requests to try. While that is running, I look at V$SESSION in Oracle and occassionaly, I will see a brief entry for app1 or adavey depending on the timing of my query and how far along the code has processed in this example. So it seems that I am only using one connection at a time and not a true connection pool.
    Is it possible that I need to use the oci driver instead of the thin driver? I've looked at the javadoc for oci and the OCIConnectionPool has a setPoolConfig method to set initial, min and max connections. However, it appears that this can only be set via Java code and not as a parameter in my context.xml resource file. If I have to set it each time I get a database connection, it seems like it sort of defeats the purpose of having Tomcat maintain the connection pool for me and that I need to implement my own connection pool. I'm a newbie to this technology so I really don't want to go this route.
    Any advice on setting up a proper connection pool that works with Tomcat and Oracle proxy sessions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Well I did some more experiments and I am able to at least create a connection pool within my example code:
    package web;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.util.Properties;
    public class ConnectionPool {
    String message = "Not Connected";
    public void init() {
    OracleConnection conn = null;
    ResultSet rst = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    try {
    Context initContext = new InitialContext();
    Context envContext = (Context) initContext.lookup("java:/comp/env");
    OracleDataSource ds = (OracleDataSource) envContext.lookup("App1ConnectionPool");
    message = "Here.";
         String user = ds.getUser();
    if (envContext == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No Context");
    if (ds == null)
    throw new Exception("Error: No DataSource");
    if (ds != null) {
    message = "Trying to connect...";
    boolean cache_enabled = ds.getConnectionCachingEnabled();
    if (!cache_enabled){
    ds.setConnectionCachingEnabled(true);
    Properties cacheProps = new Properties();
    cacheProps.put("InitialLimit","5");
         cacheProps.put("MinLimit","5");
    cacheProps.put("MaxLimit","10");
    ds.setConnectionCacheProperties(cacheProps);
              conn = (OracleConnection) ds.getConnection();
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("PROXY_USER_NAME", "adavey/xyz");
    if (conn != null) {
    message = "Got Connection " + conn.toString() + ", ";
              conn.openProxySession(OracleConnection.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME,prop);
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    //rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT 'Success obtaining connection' FROM DUAL");
    rst = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT user, SYS_CONTEXT ('USERENV', 'SESSION_USER') from dual");
    while (rst.next()) {
    message = "DS User: " + user + "; DB User: " + rst.getString(1) + "; sys_context: " + rst.getString(2);
    message += "; Was cache enabled?: " + cache_enabled;
    rst.close();
    rst = null;
    stmt.close();
    stmt = null;
    conn.close(OracleConnection.PROXY_SESSION); // Return to connection pool
    conn = null; // Make sure we don't close it twice
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    } finally {
    // Always make sure result sets and statements are closed,
    // and the connection is returned to the pool
    if (rst != null) {
    try {
    rst.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    rst = null;
    if (stmt != null) {
    try {
    stmt.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    stmt = null;
    if (conn != null) {
    try {
    conn.close();
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    conn = null;
    public String getMessage() {
    return message;
    In my context.xml file, I tried to specify the same Connection Cache Properties as attributes, but no luck:
    <Context path="/App1" docBase="App1"
    debug="5" reloadable="true" crossContext="true">
    <Resource name="App1ConnectionPool" auth="Container"
    type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
    factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@127.0.0.1:1521:oddjob"
    user="app1" password="app1"
    ConnectionCachingEnabled="1" MinLimit="5" MaxLimit="20"/>
    </Context>
    These attributes seemed to have no effect:
    ConnectionCachingEnabled="1" ; also tried "true"
    MinLimit="5"
    MaxLimit="20"
    So basically if I could find some way to get these attributes set within the context.xml file instead of my code, I would be a happy developer :-)
    Oh well, it's almost Miller time here on the east coast. Maybe a few beers will help me find the solution I'm looking for.
