How to Record Larger Video Size - MPEG-4 640x480?

Hi all,
I have Quicktime Pro and am trying to capture/record video files (as MPEG-2 or MPEG-4) that are larger than 320x240.
Does anyone know how I can do this? Also, is there a better program that I should be using (within a reasonable price.)?
The key is that we have to encode it live -- we can't process it after capture.
Thanks a ton,
Ryan

In QuickTime > Preferences, select Recording,
in the Quality, select "Device Native", Once the file is recorded, you can export to desired movie size.
iMovie might be a good try for your digital video.
Hope these help.

  • How to record screen video with sound but not playing while its recording

    Hi, I'm trying to figure out a smart way to record some video lectures using my computer. I note that the Quicktime player is able to do that, but it confines your screen to a certain size so anything that falls into that screen capture zone will be recorded which is fine as i get a separate monitor soon so i can just chuck it one side to record while I'm doing other work.
    But what im still trying to figure out is how the sound can also be simultaneously recorded by the software (be it Quicktime or not) and yet not be playing out loud on the speakers so i can do my work and not get distracted by that.
    Any line-in or some clever way to do that?
    Windows options also possible using parallels if anyone has a solution

    Hey Jeffrey,
    The easy solution to this is through the utilization of SoundFlower (Completely free).
    Here are two tutorials that will guide you through the process of capturing your System's Sound as well as recording whatever is playing on the screen:

  • How to record a video of Captivate itself?

    Hello - how do I record a video of Captivate itself? It doesn't appear as a 'window to record' (Record New Project > Appliction > ..).
    Any help? Thanks in advance.
    By the way, I am using version 5.

    Hello,
    I have been creating a lot of Captivate SWF's using 2 instances of Captivate 5 or capturing CP5 with CP4. This is working fine, just needs some editing sometimes for the automatically generated Captions that on some level seem to have strange messages, which you will not have capturing CP5 with CP4. But the capturing process works fine. You can have a look at this video tutorial I published a long time ago (only one in English, mostly create in other languages). This work flow was not possible in Captivate 4, Rick is right:

  • How to change export video size settings?

    I just upgraded from iMovie to Final Cut Pro X.
    I am trying to export my 1080P content as a 720P file, something that was very easy on the basic iMovie setup.
    I noticed when I tried to export to Vimeo I was given options for file quality and video size.
    Where do I find those options if I am doing an export to a file as opposed a direct Vimeo upload (i.e. Quicktime)?
    Please don't tell me I have to buy Compressor for this...
    Thank you!

    Share>Export Using Compressor Settings>Apple>Apple Devices>HD for Apple Devices (10mbps)
    This will give 1280x720 HD
    I don't think you need Compressor as the Compressor Settings are included in FCP X  .  .  .  I hope!

  • Export to Flash how to adjust the video size from 640 to 320

    Is there a way to change the size of the Flash video when exporting from Encore? The only setting I see is the quality drop down from low to ultra. Even on low it exports as a 640 by 480 video. Is there a way to change it to 320 by 240? Or is it determined by the size of the mpegs?
    TIA
    Dirk

    Actually I have been playing around with this stuff today, here is what you do:
    After you create the flash file with your index.html and swf and ect you can go into the HTML file and change the setting from 640x40 to 320x240. You can also create skins and stuff in there too using your HTML editor or manually playing with it yourself in Notepad like I do.

  • How to Record a video message (iChat) in messages?

    I use to record iChat's with my grand children, but after upgrading to Mavericks, and their move to MESSAGES...
    The option to Record Video Chat does not seem to be available, Is this true?  and if so...
    1) is there a work around?
    2) or another piece of software that allows recording of a video chat?
    OR
    if it is still available, how do I get the option to show up on my menu?
    Thanks for your help...
    Bill

    Hi,
    I got Screeny in Mountain Lion and it works in Mavericks.
    I see Joe M has put up the Feedback link which is advisable.
    (you have to add your specs to the free text area as the drop downs for the version have never bben up to date or even in sync with the OS drop down).
    As to why Apple changed this ?
    Unclear.  The boards specifically say speculation is not allowed.
    However.
    1) the app initially did not request that the Viewee agreed
    2) there have been many instances including schools on pupils who have school devices being "spied" on.
    3) internet related privacy is tending to be increased.

  • How to split large video files into multiple individual clips by date

    Hello. I'm looking for a freeware/shareware program (if one exists, or willing to pay for one if it does this well) that will:
    1) Analyze a large AVI file identifying the start/start points of each segment of video and the dates the video segments were shot.
    2) Then allow me to organize (for example, join 2 or more segments together if it's a video with a lot of start/stop points during the same shot) the segments identified in step 1 into logical clips that could be split apart from the 1 large AVI file.
    3) Lastly, it would split my one large AVI file into the multiple clips or files that I identified in step 2.
    A piece of software called FootTrack does a great job analyzing AVI files as I describe in steps 1 & 2, but it doesn't allow you to split or export the one avi file into multiple avi files.
    I really don't want to have to do this one clip at a time, I've got to believe there's a program out there that will automate this process for me.
    Thanks

    I don't know of a way to automate it. I just did about 15 years worth. It wasn't too hard. I use an application called mpegstreamclip. Its very easy and free to download either from the apple site or direct from its site.

    Bascically you set the in and out points with the i and o keys and export.

  • How to record iSight video in widescreen format

    Does anyone know the answer to this? It seems bizarre that although when recording video in iMovie the video window itself is in 16:9 format, the actual video is still in 4:3. Are there any video settings that i've missed? It's driving me nuts.

    You can crop the 4:3 clip to fit the widescreen format:

  • How to Record Webcam Videos?

    I have a Logitech webcam & want to record video. Can I do this with iMovie? Is there an easier or better app?

    iMovie only works with the built in iSight camera, or with connected tape-based cameras. It does not see my Logitech webcam. Here's a quote from the page you linked:
    To record video into iMovie:
    Do one of the following:
    If your computer has a built-in iSight camera, click the Import button to open the Import window.
    If your computer doesn’t come with a built-in iSight camera, connect a tape-based camera or camcorder, set it to VTR mode (this mode may have a different name on your device), and then choose the camera you want to use from the Import From pop-up menu.

  • How to record a video in portrait orientation?

    I am developing an app which uses MediaCapture class to record videos. I want to give user freedom to record video in either portrait or landsapce by just rotating the device. Please note my app has fixed portrait orientation. Due
    to fixed orientation, I am using OrientationChanged event of class SimpleOrientationSensor.
    Now I have noticed that the portait video recorded in default camera app and in my app has some differences. You can see the difference in below given images. All the videos are in 720p resolution. The player images are of portrait
    locked orientation. The code is also given below. Can any one explain me what's wrong with my code to record the portrait video? Thanks!

    Hello,
    I would recommend that you modify your code to match the
    Media Capture sample's advanced capture scenario. Instead of using SimpleOrientationSensorOrientationChangedEventArgs.Orientation use Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayInformation.
    Here is the code from the sample:
    private void DisplayInfo_OrientationChanged(Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayInformation sender, object args)
    m_displayOrientation = sender.CurrentOrientation;
    OrientationChanged();
    private void PrepareForVideoRecording()
    try
    if (m_mediaCaptureMgr == null)
    return;
    bool counterclockwiseRotation = m_bReversePreviewRotation;
    if (m_bRotateVideoOnOrientationChange)
    m_mediaCaptureMgr.SetRecordRotation(VideoRotationLookup(m_displayOrientation, counterclockwiseRotation));
    else
    m_mediaCaptureMgr.SetRecordRotation(Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.None);
    catch (Exception exception)
    ShowExceptionMessage(exception);
    private Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation VideoRotationLookup(
    Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayOrientations displayOrientation,
    bool counterclockwise)
    switch (displayOrientation)
    case Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayOrientations.Landscape:
    return Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.None;
    case Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayOrientations.Portrait:
    return (counterclockwise) ? Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.Clockwise270Degrees :
    Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.Clockwise90Degrees;
    case Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayOrientations.LandscapeFlipped:
    return Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.Clockwise180Degrees;
    case Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayOrientations.PortraitFlipped:
    return (counterclockwise) ? Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.Clockwise90Degrees :
    Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.Clockwise270Degrees;
    default:
    return Windows.Media.Capture.VideoRotation.None;
    I hope this helps,

  • IPhoto library too big -- how do I sort video, size to remove/archive?

    Okay folks. So my iphoto library has gotten so big, I can't even install updates on my MacBook. Normally with any files on my computer, I can sort by size...see who's hogging up space and what I don't need. Not only can I not sort by size, I really have no way of managing these files in finder.
    Advice?
    Saw previous posts about "no sort by size". Someone even said "iPhoto is a photo manager, not a file manager" -- cute, but at some point the space runs out.

    I really have no way of managing these files in finder.
    It is strongly recommended that you do not use the finder to delete, move or otherwise modify any files within the iPhoto library - doing so risks corrupting your library and losing data
    If you want to delete anything in the iPhoto library you must us the iPhoto program to do it
    To identify your movies you can make a smart album for all items with the keyword = movie - selecting one and looking in the information window at the lower left hand corner will show you its size

  • How to record a simple sidebar video as in Adobe Presenter 7

    In Adobe Presenter 9, how to record a video with my webcam to put as a sidebar video for one slide ?
    In Presenter 7 we could do that easily.  Now with the new video editer we can make great videos and capture the screen.  But that's not what need...
    How to do a simple sidebar video without capturing the screen...
    Look at the point 4 on this website: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Presenter/7.0/WS56318F3C-65A7-477b-8CAA-2CBF0902BA5B.html
    3-...Capture video...
    4-...then select... ...sidebar video to record video for the Presenter image area.
    It was easy in Presenter 7 !!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

    When you use the video recording feature in Presenter 8+, it does record a stand alone WMV of your webcam. While the workflow isn't as clean as before, it can be inserted back in just as a sidebar video, without the background screen capture. Here is how you can do it:
    Use the Presenter Video Creator to record your video. Disregard that your screen is being captured, you won't use it.
    After you record your video, Save your project. Don't publish it, as the published output is useless to you.
    Back in Presenter, choose to Insert Video.
    Browse to your webcam capture (My Documents > My Adobe Presenter Video Projects > {What ever you named the capture} > mt). Should be named something like presenter_video1.wmv
    Presenter will convert it to FLV, you can select the quality and location, slide or sidebar, as in previous versions of Presenter.
    If desired, you can use a 3rd part video conversion tool to convert the WMV video, but that may not be necessary.
