How to record multiple midi channel data to multiple midi tracks in Logic?

Dear All,
I have an electric organ from Yamaha, and it has 3 keyboards, upper keyboard, lower keyboard, and pedal keyboard. They are all running in different midi channels:
i.e. upper keyboard: midi channel 1
lower keyboard: midi channel 2
pedal keyboard: midi channel 3
When I try to create 3 midi tracks in Logic to listen to the 3 keyboards, I found that their midi signal just mixed together. Meaning, all 3 midi tracks can listen to all 3 keyboards...
Please noted that I am using a single USB Midi interface (1-in, 1-out) to connect the electric organ with macbook.
Can someone give me a help here? I suppose I can setup 3 midi tracks in logic to listen to 3 keyboards signal separately.
Thanks,
Eric

I had a similar situation when I first got LS and received this useful reply from Apple-
in Settings>Recording, check the box for "Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording".
Be aware that the Settings are song specific, compared to Preferences, which apply
to all songs. Set your controllers to send on specific MIDI channels and set the same channels in the inspector of your tracks.
I have a 2x2 midisport however, so I don't know if you will have an issue because you have only 1 I/O.
If so, you might have to learn about 'Multi instruments", I haven't had the need.
Yes, this is correct. We have two recording stations with ESI M4U 4x4 midi interfaces. We are recording 4 instruments at the same time and they all send their data on a different channel. I created midi instruments for all of them in Environment just to have them more easily available in the Arrange window. Also make sure you have the correct midi channel set per track in Logic.
When the option to "auto demix by channel" is set and you are recording, it may seem that Logic is recording only on one channel (only one region being created). But as soon as you hit stop, it will expand to multiple channels.

  • How to delete multiple music tracks

    how to delete multiple music tracks?

    I think rendering the audio has to do with the way I import to FCE. This is how I bring video into FCE because it seems to be the only way I can get it to work. I run my video camera through a digital coverter which runs a firewire into my Mac. I then import the video into imovie. After that is done, I do a drag and drop of the imovie into FCE. I have to render the audio because it just beeps if I don't when I play it back in FCE. I tried using the video capture in FCE but it keeps telling me it is unable to capture (my gues is the cameras are too old and the digital converter in not compatable with FCE or Mac). So once the video and audio footage is in FCE, if I click the green button on the left hand side, my rendered audio becomes a red line. However, I can click the same button on the upper video portion, and it drops the video out so I can see video clips on the lower levels and not just the first one on top. So that's why I render the audio. I can see all twelve audio tracks already. Tom- would making the change you suggest still help? Great book by the way also.

    When recording a midi track, why is it automatically creating a loop whenever I stop?
    I am using Logic Pro 9 on a MacBook Pro and Yosemite 10.10.1

    Hi
    Probably because you have the MIDI Thru parameters set to loop?
    Click in the background of the Arrange window, and in the Region Inspector (MIDI THRU) deselect 'Loop'

  • How to record multiple inputs to separate tracks using an Audigy 4 pro

    Hi,
    I've been playing with my Audigy 4 Pro and Cubase LE on my windows XP box (since it ships with the card) and have been reasonably impressed with the results I've been getting (nothing amazing to be sure, but more than enough to amuse me).
    However, I'm now at the point where I want to record the mic/line 1, line 2, and line 3 inputs all to separate tracks in Cubase LE. I'll be ****ed if I can figure out how to do it.
    I've got jacks going into the front of the external Audigy 4 (into all the inputs) but I can't find any option anywhere that will allow me to select multiple recording inputs at the same time. From all of the reading I've been doing it looks like I need to do some ASIO configuration somewhere so that Cubase LE will give me some more VST input mappings.
    So firstly, I guess is what I'm trying to do possible with the Audigy 4 Pro and Cubase LE?
    If it is possible, what do I do to enable the additional inputs? I seem to have been through all the possible programs and configuration screens at least three times over and am now completely stuck.
    Any help, thoughts, pointers, step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

    Entrop1cLqd,
    This is off the top of my head so my memory may be incorrect here but this is what I remember. First off make sure that you have Audigy ASIO or Audigy ASIO 24/96 selected in devices. Then go to VST inputs setup and make sure that they are all active. Note the names in here as that is how the recording is mapped (E.g. if Line In 3 is even with IN 1 then Line In 3 will be recorded from IN 1). Arm the tracks you want to record on and select their recording inputs based on the labels from the VST inputs setup.
    This should get you setup.

    Canada Bank often use CPA Standard 005, a.k.a. CPA 1464 specification. it comes with a Header and a Trailer record, but the detail record main contains upto 6 transactions in one logic record, that is, it has 7 segments,
    segments 0 contains 3 common fields followed by segment 1~6, each contains one payament.
    The total records lenght is 1464. Question is how to create a custom level to have 6 transactions in one logic record.
    Anyone has done so, please give me some tips. If you have a sample template available, please forward me a copy, it is for supplier payment...

  • How to record multiple tracks together?

    Ok, completely new to garage band, but I don't see why this is so difficult to figure out. I get how to record a track, and then play it as a loop. But how do I then record something new WITH that loop, so that the two tracks play together (and not just record over it, deleting the first track). For example, how can I record a rhythm part on the guitar, stop it, hit the loop button, and then record a solo over it? Everytime I try this it either records over the first recording (deleting it), or even though it looks like its recording when I stop and hit play I am still only hearing the first track. Very frustrating...
    Thanks!!!!

    You create a second track for the solo and record to the second track, then play both tracks together.
    Use the "Record enable" button in the track header to enable only the solo guitar track for recording, once your rhythm loop has been recorded.

  • Need help in recording multiple seperate tracks

    hello, i've used cool edit and now audition to record for the last eight years or so. however, i've never gone byond tracking more then one mic at a time in the past. with some upcoming projects i will be tracking a full band and need to record multiple mics (most challenging being drums) and i need to be able to assign each mic to its own seperate track in real time.
    i will be using a PreSonus firebox which was four inputs. i can make do with four mics just fine. my only problem is i can't find any info and i'm not even sure audition allows for simultaneous multi channel recording. it is imperative i be able to have separation for each mic for mixing. any advice/help? will i be forced to find another program?
    thanks in advance,
    joel

    Audition handles multitrack recording just fine.
    You don't say what version of Audition you have (there are variations in how to set up the recording) but if you're on the current 3.0 version, you'd:
    Under Edit/Audio Hardware Set up, click on the Multitrack tab at the top.  On the "Audio Driver" menu, select the appriopriate Presonus driver.  Under "Default Input" Select the Presonus interface.  Also select it on the Output menu if you want to outuput sound that way for monitoring.  Click Okay.
    Go to Multitrack view in the main programme.
    Work down the inputs for each track (marked with a right-facing arrow) and select "Mono" and the Presonus output you wish to go to that track.  If you want to output back to the Presonus, do the same with the output selection, otherwise just leave it to "Main".
    (At this point, I suggest you save a session as "Basic multi setup" or similar to make it faster for the next take--then do a "Save As" for the actual recording you're about to do.)
    Click the "R" button on each track you wish to record in (you don't have to do all tracks every time) to arm for record.
    Click the main Record button to actually start recording.
    If you have an earlier version of Audition or Cool Edit Pro, the procedure is similar but some of the controls are accessed in different ways.

  • How to play multiple audio tracks simultaneously?

    Hi there,
    I am having problem with playing multiple audio tracks. I want to play 2 or more audio tracks at exact time (without delay) - is it possible? how can it be done?

    So, essentially, you're trying to take a recording of say, a singer and a guitar player, and end up with the singer in one file and the guitar in the other. Got it.
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/Merge.html]
    That sample will merge multiple input files into a single file. Because you want to play the files together rather than save them, just take the sample and strip out all of the DataSink stuff, and add the following line right after the Processor "outputProcessor" is realized...
    outputProcessor.setContentDescriptor(null);
    So, it'll make the following revision to the code:
         // Create the output processor
         ProcessorModel outputPM = new MyPMOut(merger);
         try {
             outputProcessor = Manager.createRealizedProcessor(outputPM);
                        outputProcessor.setContentDescriptor(null);
             outputDataSource = outputProcessor.getDataOutput();
         } catch (Exception exc) {
             System.err.println("Failed to create output processor: " + exc);
             System.exit(-1);
         }That'll make the outputProcessor play the file, as if it was a Player object. You won't have any visual controls, but if you need visual controls, then don't do that, and just create a Player object to play the outputDataSource.

  • How mute a Single Midi track instead of all when using multi-timbral instrument

    I added a Multi-Timbral Instument, opens up 16 midi channels. When i want to mute/solo just one of those 16 midi tracks, all of them are muted/solo-ed. How to mute/solo them individually?

    If you have only one single mono audio track then duplicate it (select audio track then hold down SHIFT and OPTION/ALT key simultaneously and drag the mono audio clip down to the audio track below, it will give you a duplicate) after doing that select and double click the duplicated mono track and in the viewer Pan that hard right (1). Finally select both audio tracks and hit Option+L. You now have stereo pair.

  • RECORDING MULTIPLE AUDIO TRACKS AT ONCE

    Hello. Looking for some help. I am using LOGIC PRO and a Presonus Project Studio 8 input AD converter. I have 6 drum mics up and Presonus is recognizing them. I have created 6 audio tracks in Logic and named them appropriately. I go to record them and all I get is the kick drum...no other mics are recording on their own tracks....
    Can someone help guide me?

    Three ways of doing this:
    In your mixer slide over the tracks with your mouse - they all turn white/grey - hit record on one of the tracks - all tracks will get armed with the red flashing R button.
    or
    Hold the shift key and select the tracks in your Arrange - arm one of them - all tracks go into record mode.
    or
    group the tracks together in a group via the grouping slot above the channel fader, in the group options menue select record enable - arm one of the tracks - all tracks go into record mode.

  • HOW TO ADD MULTIPLE AUDIO TRACKS - iMovie '11

    I'm having trouble adding multiple audio tracks in iMovie 11.  I already have an audio track embedded with the video and a separate music track under.  I wish to extend the music track further but need to cut it off at a certain point.  I tried just adding the 2nd music track under the first but when I 'drop' the track it doesn't show up anywhere.  Any ideas or work arounds will be helpful.  Thanks.

    you have to drag the music-clip onto a video-clip - then, iM will add it automatically upon/under the other ones ...

  • I am trying to get sound from the MIDI output from an analogue synth (Prophet 08) as an External MIDI track in Logic Pro 8

    I route the signal via an Edirol UA-25. I open a new project, new track and specify it as an External MIDI track. While the indicator light next to the Mute button blinks when I press a key, there is no sound.

    David,
    Learning is not a bad thing, I'm just saying what you thought MIDI did is in error, you're not the first.
    Here's an article explaining what MIDI is and how it works, it probably seems less than you thought it capable of but the fact is, since it's standardization in 1983 it completely revolutionized electronic music. By the Way, the designers of the Prophet 8 (Dave Smith & Sequential Circuits) had a lot of input into the MIDI protocol, in fact, if you had to say one company/person came up with the basics of MIDI it was Sequential Circuits. They also came up with the first polyphonic, fully programmable analog synth. I had a very basic MIDI studio at the end of 1984.

  • Error -10609!! How to correct for multi-channel data acquisition?

    I am creating a program that will obtain data from all 16 channels of the PCI-DAQ6023E. I keep running into the 10609 Error "Transfer in Progress" when trying to compile and run. How do I set up the code to allow the DAQ card and Visual Basic to analyze all 16 channels at the same time?

    Greetings,
    Most of the time when I see the error 10609 Transfer in Progress it is because multiple calls, such as an analog config or analog start, are being called to the same DAQ device at the same time. Both calls are fighting for the DAQ card's resources. This is an issue with your program.
    I recommend that you take a look at an example program, such as our simple AI example in Visual Basic which can be found in the following directory: \Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\Visual Basic\_Getting Started\AI.
    You will see a Component Works control called CWAI. If you right-click on this control and choose properties you will be able to select the channels you wish to read from. You will want to read from all 16 channels by using a
    channel string of 0:15 or 0,1,2,3 .. 15. You do not want to have one CWAI control for each channel.
    You could also take a look at the following example available on our web site.
