How to record screensaver as a movie

Does anyone know of a way to record any of the OS X screensavers as a movie file?
I have Copernicus (a freeware program) but it doesn't seem to function with screensavers.
Anyone know any tricks on this?

Thanks for the update... Although I am still unsure whether you are referring to the mosaic created by dropping individual photos or the mosaic that evolves into the next photo. Be that as it may, the process is the same. In this case, as David previously mentioned, your best bet is to use on of the "screen capture" applications since it does not fit the scenario described earlier.

As you did not provide specifics as to target requirements, I captured my full 1680x1050 display screen and scaled it to 50% for the sample above. Since I am using an original PPC G5 2.0 platform, my frame rate for a display this size was limited to a maximum in 16-17 fps range, so I elected to capture at 15 fps. (You should be able to better on your machine if you want.) In any event, there should be a number of screen capture applications on the market if you search around. Like David, I tend to stick with Snapz ProX from Ambrosia as I have been using it for a number of years and it has served me well over that period.

When you import DV Stream from tape, iMovie 11 will assume that you are importing raw footage from a camera, rather than a finished movie. It will create a new clip everytime it detects a scene break (the record start/stop button was pressed). These clips will be placed in chronolgical order - not the order they were on the tape.
One way around this is to import the tape into the application that you used to create it. For example, if you used iMovie 6, import the tape back into imovie 6. In iMovie 6, you can export the tape back out using FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose the DV codec in an MOV container. You can then import this MOV file into iMovie 11 and have everything in the proper order for your finished movie.
Another option is to use FInal Cut Pro X.

Can anyone tell me how to record from the video in or S-video ports, because i've tried the Ulead DVD factory program and the only capture device it could see was the webcam, and it did capture from it
After that i've downloaded the update file that was provided by the support website
The devices that the program could see are the TV tuner and the webcam (which it couldn't access anymore for some reason)
After that i've downloaded a newer update which simply is the same as the last update and seems that someone in the support website directed the link of the new update which they don't have to the file of the previous update which doesn't really do anything.

There are 2 s-video ports; s-video out port is not designed to capture the signals from any external source. The name of this port says everything; its an OUT port!
The s-video-in port must be placed at the right side of the notebook. Dont mix the both ports. But note; this port receives only the video signals. To hear the sounds, use a video cable to connect the sound terminals of the audio device and your computer.
Red: sound right channel
White: sound left channel
The Ulead DVD Movie factory can be used to capture this signal.

I am unsure if you want a static image, or a movie recording of what you are doing on your screen.
Images can be done using Command-Shift-3, Command-Shift-4, and Command-Shift-4-Space.
3rd party utilities such as Skitch will allow you to annotate the image after you capture it.
Making a movie of your screen activities can be done usng Applications -> Quicktime
There are 3rd party screen records such as Snapz Pro, ScreenSteps, etc...
And of course you can do a Google search.

How do I transfer a 744MB MOV file from iPad to PC

I have successfully transferred mov files and photo's from my iPad to PC using Nikon Transfer software, except for one video clip which is 744MB and over 10 mins long. Does anyone know how I can successfully transfer this mov to PC. Is there an alternative way of doing this. Maybe Nikon's software has limitations? Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Im assuming that you have itunes for this method.
Go into itunes and click on the name of your iPad under devices
At the top where you see summary, info, apps etc. Click on Apps
Scroll down to the bottom and look for file sharing. Have a look to see how you recorded the video and it might be in there.
Ah I see you are on a PC which rules out a few other options. If I recall you can view the camera roll via usb cable using windows explorer and then copy and paste (been a while since I checked)

Thank you, but I mean by video, like a full tutorial. Quicktime does an ok version, but blurs at high speeds, (like if you're jumping or boxing etc) so I'd like to know what good apps record a decent VIDEO (not photos) from the iMac camera. The camera can remain in one place, the instructor has a stable mark to work within so they don't go out of screen, but yes, fast movement just has tracers. It might have been the lower light though. Bright light would help this issue I bet...
I know from the plethora of well done youtube videos, it's possible. Just not sure what apps may be best.

Recording knob and slider movements from an external synth in a good way

How do I record the knob and fader movements made on an external synth into Logic in a good way?
I have managed to do it but Logic writes a new region over the top of the region containing my midi notes. When I stop recording the new region which contains the CC data disappears behind the region containing the midi notes.
On top of this, once I've moved the regions around so I can select the one containing the CC data I can't see anything for it in the Hyper editor (though I know the changes have been recorded as it plays back.)
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I often make a duplicate of my Midi track/Software Instrument track (assigned to the same Audio object - standard KC for this is shift+Return) beneath the original track and then record fader and knob movements on the duplicated track.
In the Piano Roll->view->Hyper Editor select Modulation/Pitch bend or "Other" and choose a Midi Controller number frome the menue which opens, the selected Controller (e.g.#21) will be displayed underneath the Piano Roll and you can edit it with your pointer/pencil/Eraser tool.

My goal is to make a flash application that can do this things :
- basic drawing application (i can handle this part)
- record the strokes of the user
- save the datas that record each strokes in a single file, let's call it my-drawing-data-file
- load my-drawing-data-file back in the flash application
- playback my-drawing-data-file in order to watch a kind of movie which shows the drawing that "draw" itself
A good example of that application can be found on drawingnow.com. So i know it is possible but how...?

You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

You don't use Airplay. You set up Home Sharing on both and under the Computers section of AppleTV you'll then find it under Movies (or Rentals if rented), assuming it's in a compatible format.

1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

However... if the headphone/microphone combination has two 3.5mm jack plugs (pink and green) then the microphone output (pink) is "mic.level" - which is TOO QUIET for the audio input on a Mac, which is expecting the much stronger "line.level" signal strength.
Solutions: get a microphone pre-amplifier between the mic and the Mac (not cheap); or a different microphone with a USB interface.
