How to recover a Lightroom 3 to 4 Upgrade?

I bought Lightroom 3 on CD and installed that in my new system. But I cannot find my hard copy of the Lightroom 4 upgrade that I purchased, during 4's reign. Since my current Lightroom catalog is for 4, I want to upgrade the software for this new build, as well, but cannot find it under Old Software in support. Where can I download a file of this type, or how can use my serial numbers for LR3 and LR4 Upgrade to install a working version of LR4? Thanks.

No, you can backup contacts and calendars on a Windows PC. There are many backup options for PCs, but you would've had to set one up. Don't you backup any of the data on your PC?

There's no guarantee that the iTunes Backup will include all your contacts, as noted in the support article above, you're supposed to maintain backups of the contacts in the contact manager you sync with.

Migration Assistant creates a new user with your restored data from your Time Machine backup, so it's normal that you don't see your data.
Open  > Log Out, and log in the new user that Migration Assistant has created. Here are all your transferred data from your Time Machine backup. Then, if you want, open System Preferences > Users & Groups, select the old user and press the - button to delete it

How to recover deleted lightroom catalog

Hi there.
I have by accident deleted my "Photos" folder from my Windows 7 computer. I wanted to move it to a new internal drive. I "thought" that I have copied the folder, including the folder with my complete catalog. I wanted to work on photo's a friend of mine wants and discovered that I have indeed not copied the folder to the new drive and most certainly deleted it from my C-drive.
Can you please suggest a program with which I can restore that folder, please? I have a NAS backup server and from some reason the folder is not on there either. My photo's are safe and sound but all my tags and all LR stuff is missing. Something free will be very nice.

How can I get Lightroom 5 to correctly upgrade my Lightroom 4 files

I followed the instructions starting up Lightroom 5, but, when I looked at my files that it upgraded, many file were missing. So I Imported the missing files with LR5. But then I noticed that many of the files I had imported (~3,000), had all the keywords missing! How can I fix this without reindexing the whole batch of files?

How to import an Lightroom 4 catalog with upgraded PC

I upgraded my PC to Windows 8.1. I have a Lightroom 4 catalog and I have the Lightroom Photos directory for it. For one thing the Lightroom Photos are no longer on the same drive, so the reference to that drive won't be correct in the catalog.
My goal is to import this catalog into Lightroom 5, because is has keywords and so on that I would like to preserve.
How can I import this information into Lightroom 5?

How to recover after a win 8.1 upgrade goes wrong.

7 days ago i bought a Pavillion laptop and yesterday I upgraded to windows 8.1, after 5 hours it finally said to restart, however now I cannot get past the login screen, after entering my pin the screen goes blank with the status bar and pointer flashing on/off,   i thought it was still finalsing, but after 12 hours of the same, i shut down, after a few retries the computer still hangs at the same spot.    i have tried the F2 tests but it says everything is ok.
how do I get to do a recovery start, which key do I hold down while restarting the pc ?? there is nothing on it to save ,
I dont know if I would try and upgrade to 8.1 again.

Tap the F11 key after powering on to boot into Recovery. If that does not work-tap the Esc key after powering on to bring up the menu.Recovery option should be there.

Upgrades do not replace their older versions and even if they did you did not purchase an upgrade (which is simply a discounted version of a full version). If you want to get rid of Lightroom 4 go ahead

Folder "Photos" deleted! How to recover backup?

My folder "Photos" is gone - why I don't know! However, I've always taken a back up during import, so if anybody could tell me how to recover the back up that would be helpful. Can I do it from inside Lightroom or do I have to do it manually in Finder? (Mac OS X 10.4)

FIrst, are they only deletesd in Finder, or also in LR? If only the finder, put copies of the back-ups where the deleted were and they should show in LR fine. if in Both, Then put Copies where they were and Import again with earlier back-up copy of LR dB that would not have the edit/metadata stuff deleted and export XMP Metadata to the replaced images, then reopen with current dB and re-import to get your edits.

The quick fix is to click on the folder containing the missing files and choose "update Folder Location" then find the folder on the USB drive. The longer term and fix you should apply is to set Windows to always give the USB the same drive letter. You can do this through the XP Disk Management application in Computer Management (Control Panel applet). The following screenshot is for XP, but Vista and Win 7 will something similar which can be accessed via Administrative Tools (see second screenshot).
