How to recover a playlist on iTunes 12?

I accidentally deleted a playlist of mine when I wasn't paying attention and going for a song to delete.
I have checked other Questions and they all relate to iTunes 11 not 12, I have tried importing the iTunes Music Library.XML file again, which brought up a lot of old playlist I hadn't seen in ages but not the deleted one.
I still have the playlist on my phone and can stopped it from syncing so it won't get wiped and have done a "Back up".
On the iTunes 11 questions I saw that you can right click on the playlist whilst in the device or file menu and export it, in 12 I can't see that option in either.
Anyone know how to export a playlist from your iPhone on iTunes 12, or how to get the "Back Up" to import playlist from that?
It took me days to create :/
Thanks

Assuming you do not have the Sidebar visible then

Right click on the playlist name to the left and the option of Burn to disc is there
That's the way I'd do it. However, it's still easy enough without the Sidebar visible by default. Click on the Playlists button on top, which will bring up a Playlists Sidebar. (That seems to be the Apple Way: limit the choices depending on what "View" you're in. My feeling is that in many cases, less is less. It's confusing and user-unfriendly.)
Besides the right-click method, which is the easiest, one can also select a Playlist and click on File > Burn Playlist to Disc from the top menu, or click on the gear icon at the bottom of the Sidebar, then choose the burn option.
In its infinite wisdom, Apple has decided that so few people burn CDs nowadays that the function doesn't deserve its own icon to make the process obvious. If I were the UI designer, I would have made a clickable CD icon appear at the top when a blank CD is inserted.

Have you subscribed to iTunes Match? There is a bug that can sometimes create hundreds of duplicate empty playlists. I had the same question. Someone answered perfectly here https://discussions.apple.com/message/20575126#20575126
The answer was click View > Show sidebar. Devices and playlists will display in the left sidebar once again. Copy playlists into iPod as usual.

Could someone PLEASE HELP ME on "How do I recover a playlist that I accidentally deleted in iTunes 10?

Addressing data loss problems always brings up matters of contention, since as-is your drive technically has the data on it and is currently at its most-recoverable state. Anything further you do to the drive (even standard use) will push it further away from this "most-recoverable" state, so if the data is vitally important (e.g., single copies of crucial financial, medical, or research documents), then the advice I'd give is to shut the system down as fast as possible, and take it into a reputable data recovery service center to have the drive's data restored.
On the other hand, there are some routines you can try to hopefully recover the data, and even restore the drive. Of course various recovery tools like Prosoft Data Rescue can scour the drive surface for file types and offer means to restore them, and disk utilities can sometimes repair a faultly partition. In this case, I'd recommend you try the tool "testdisk" which is built to recover missing partitions. I've used it once, and it was successful, but have not had extensive experience with it: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
I'd recommend you read through the site and its step-by-step guides to see how best to use the tool, before giving it a go.

    Hey HalSF,
iTunes allows you to sync music with your devices in several different ways, including by playlist. See the iPhone user manual for how to -

  • How to recover music playlists if they've been deleted?

I had playlists on my iPhone that'd gotten deleted, and when I synced it back to iTunes, the playlists disappeared from iTunes as well. Would they be recovered if I restored the iPhone to its last backup? Is there any way at all to get the playlists back if I didn't export them before?

This happened to me too.  I'm heartbroken over losing my playlists.  I tried restoring my iPhone from the backup but it didn't recover my playlists.  I'm not sure if I deleted the playlists before or after the last backup, tho.

  • How to manually sort playlists in iTunes?

Okay so I know you can manually sort songs within a playlist on iTunes but I wanted to know if you could manually sort the order of the playlists. It just defaults to alphabetic order which is annoying because I don't want them in that order...Is it possible to do this? Thanks!

    No you cannot.
To sort them, you need to rename them.

  • How to recover deleted songs from iTunes hard drive (not iPod)

I have a Western Digital hard drive that I use to play all of my mp3 files. Tonight I was creating a playlist by dragging and dropping songs. Although I thought I was editing the playlist, it turns out that I accidently deleted a song from my library ("MUSIC").
Now anytime that I delete something from the external hard drive, it ends up in the recycling bin on my desktop. But that does not seem to be the case with songs that I delete from the "MUSIC" library on my hard drive.
I'm confused. When I accidently deleted this song, where did it go? The folder containing the mp3 file is gone, it is no longer in iTunes and it never appeared in the Recycling Bin. In the past whenever I've accidently deleted a song, I simply went to the Recycling Bin and clicked on "Restore File".
Does anyone know where to find the missing file(s) and how to restore them to my 'MUSIC' folder in iTunes?
Note that this has nothing to do with my iPod, but rather the external hard drive associated with my PC.
Thanking everyone in advance who can help!
    Chad

How I wish it were that simple.
My Recycling Bin is empty, which is what is perplexing. Just to see if this function was working properly I deleted a song from the LIBRARY and guess what? It appeared in the Recycling Bin.
Its a mystery what has happened to these songs.
This has happened on several occassions. I waited years for a few rare songs to come out in digital because only vinyl copies existed. When Apple finally reached a licensing agreement to sell these songs, I downloaded them and created a playlist. Somehow the playlist disappeared including all of the songs from the library. I didn't think anything of it because I thought that I could simply go to iTunes, select PURCHASED songs and add them. To my suprise iTunes does not have a history of my purchase.
Finally, after much trouble back and forth with Apple customer support they sent me a link for two of the most recent songs that I downloaded, but the ones that I downloaded a year or more in the past.
The whole entire scenario has left me scratching my head.

  • How do I transfer playlists from itunes to my ipad?

I have several custom playlists that I have made and they are in itunes on my computer under the playlist section. They are underneath the four standard playlists: classical, music videos, my top rated and 90s music that come already set up. These have a different logo, a musical note. I want to get these custom playlists onto my ipad along with the files necessary to play them. How do I do this?
    Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8) ipad2

Start iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad to your computer.
Select you iPad in iTunes on your computer.
Select the Music tab in the row of tabs presented.
Select the music you want on your iPad.
    Click on Sync or Apply.
Note that on your iPads iTunes is for purchasing music. Use the Music app to listen to your synced music.

  • How to copy a playlist from iTunes to a USB (keeping artist song name etc) and the files to listen and browse in a jeep hard drive

I made a music playlist on my iTunes, perfectly ordered. I get a car with a USB input to get the songs in the car hard drive, My question is: How can I copy the playlist (with artist, song etc) with the music file (but with the name and artist instead  of the file name) in the usb so I can copy it and browse it in my car?
    Thanks

This would require renaming the files on the computer.
iTunes is not going to do this magically when copying files to the flash drive, iTunes does not even copy/sync files to a flash drive.

  • Need to recover old playlists, old iTunes library will not open because it was created by a newer version?

I have a Mac mini, have installed iTunes on it and want to find some old playlists that were lost.  I have several 'iTunes Libraries' with different dates but I cannot open any of them becauseit says they were created with a newer version of iTunes.  Please help!

Somewhere in your process you ended up with an earlier version of iTunes than was used last with the library. iTunes 10.6.3 is the highest version that will run under OSX 10.5.8
    iTunes 10.6.3.25 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
If you had an earlier version and still want that version I am not sure how to go about this.  My iTunes library file does not say it was created with a particular version, although I admit I have not looked at the .xml copy to see if it is buried in the file itself.  Apple only has a very limited number of iTunes versions openly posted, though you can still find just about any version if you look in the right places.  You would have to kind of start low and work your way up to where you want to be since once you open a library with a version it cannot be reverted to an earlier version (make backups first).
