How to recover after "write erase"

I have a 9505, After running the write erase command, I can no longer log into the switch via telnet with the default admin password or the last configured password. Also I no longer get any activity over the serial connection to log in through serial. How can I reset this director back to factory defaults?

Yes I did reset the switch after the write erase. I do not think it reverted back to factory defaults though. I still get a login response when I telnet to the configured IP address, but no passwords seem to work. I have tried admin/admin as per the documentation defaults and the configured password, both reply with login incorrect. I have also tried no password.
I am using the supplied Cisco serial cable which I know works because I was connected serially when I sent the write erase command.
Since the command and system reset I have not seen any activity through the serial connection. I have tried both the top and bottom supervisor and neither show any activity when the switch boots up. I am using a windows laptop using hyperterm with 8/1/N settings as per the documentation.
Is there any other way to set factory defaults? I am out of ideas on how to recover this switch.

  • How to recover after ORA-12705 ?

    Hi folks,
    Environment:
    WinXP, .NET 2.x, ClickOnce
    Oracle 10g DB Server
    ODP.NET 11g with POOLING enabled!
    On some user machines we encounter ORA-12705. Indeed we have proved that it is caused by the presense of the following registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE]"NLS_LANG"="NA"
    We have the means to remove (or assign a different value to) that key in our code which fixes the problem. However, we have a couple of questions:
    1) Is it safe to just remove the registry entry before we establish a DbConnection for the first time? How likely is that to break existing Oracle applications?
    2) If we decide to deal with this exception only when we encounter it, how do we recover from it? We use a connection pool, and we discovered that after this exception is encountered and the registry entry removed, we could CREATE a connection (presumably taken from the pool), but when we try to OPEN it, we get the same exception. Again, how do we recover from this providing we are using connection POOLING with ODP.NET 11g?
    Thank you so much in advance!

  • How to recover an sticky erased by mistake?

    Hello,
    I hope I am posting in the right place. I have a G4 "Sawtooth" running OS 10.4.11. I have put all my critical info in a sticky which I just erased by mistake.
    Could anyone walk me through on how to recover it? By reading other posts I know that it is in a file called "stickiesdatabase" governed by "com.apple.stickies.plist".
    Thanks.

    Hi Nicholas, If it isn't still in the Trash, (did you check), then it's pretty heavy duty... you must immediately quit using the computer, then look into, Data Rescue II...

  • How to recover after performing an 'Erase' and then 'Partition' within Disk Utility of an External USB drive?

    Hi - I accidently ran an 'Erase' and then 'Partition' within Disk Utility of an External USB drive (meant to run it against another drive that was plugged in).  Does anyone have any suggestions on if it is possible to recover from this?  It has all my family photos on it and my backup is a few months old :-(
    I tried running Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery but it found what looks like basic mac folder structure (probably from the first erase).  I think what messed me up was that I rain the repartition which formats the drive a 2nd time!  Any help is truly appreciated!
    thank you,

    Hello RalphR_MI,
    Take a look at this page, which lists several articles.  Please let me know if any of these help you restore your backup.
    Also, take a look at this article, as well as this one.
    I hope this helps.  I'm not sure of a few things, so I'm sorry for sending you so much, but I'm confident it will give you something new to try.
    Please let me know if this helps.  Good luck!

     You should order the recovery discs from Toshiba.

    After you have restored the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents, you should have the recovery utilities and partitions. See the A350 User's Manual (attached) for how to recover after that.

  • HT201250 How to recover iPhoto Library after format of hard drive?

    I've recently reinstalled Lion onto my hard drive but I forgot to backup my iPhoto library. Is there any way of recovering this library? I also have an external hard drive that had Time Machine Backups but that hard drive has since gone through formats as well. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    SOLUTION : iPhoto folder recovered after formatting hard drive by mistake.
    I was able for recover my iPhoto library ( intact ) after formatting the hard drive by mistake.
    On top of that I formatted it in FAT32 format. My iPhoto folder was huge 100GB with file and movies of all sort of formats. I kept it on a secondary hard drive of 500 GB. one day I was formatting flash drive for somebody which was 500Mb, seems similar to my 500GB and I formatted my hard drive by mistake. I realized the mistake a week after the person called me and said there is nothing in flash disk and I find a single file on my hard drive. Needless to say the earth disappeared underneath me. All my pictures for 10 years , 8000 thousand of them, cherished memories all gone. But was I determined to find them back and I know they are intact somewhere. My biggest fear was that formatting on MS-dos format might have really deleted them , but they were there. and here is how I got them back.
    First I tried the Data recuse 3 software. I got the photos back,  but they were all jumbled up. Long numerical file names and original dates were gone. No way I could sort it out back to the way it was before . So my target was to recover the iPhoto folder intact.
    - I bought an external hard drive with 1tb space to retrieve the data.
    - The software which did the miraculous job is called  " STELLAR PHOENIX MAC DATA RECOVERY" .
    - I ran a deep scan all night and came up with many volumes.  volume-1 was the MS dos , volume 2 was a mac system,
    - I tried MS dos volume first and there was nothing on it.
    - I tried the 2 volume with mac system. It got all my files and some other system file.
    - I could see the iPhoto folder and click on that only to recover. After that I went for my doc and other files later.
    - It took hours to retrieve my iPhoto folder intact, The folder size was right and file were there in master folder.
    - I checked in FINDER , opening iPhoto with "show content " and all my picture file were there with original date.
    - BUT when tried opening it in iPhoto , there was nothing. it keep showing the wait icon and nothing shows up. Empty iPhoto.
    - I tired starting iPhoto , holding command -option and tried building and repairing database, nothing worked.
    - Then I got this software " iPhoto library manager" .
    - downloaded, installed it and pointed it towards my iPhoto folder.
    - It asked for space to rebuild a new iPhoto library with existing picture and folder.
    I had another external hard drive , I used it to make a rebuild  iPhoto library.
    and there I GOT IT. only took three night of pain.
    IMPORTANT:
    I never touched my original formatted hard drive. Don't write anything on it until you are sure you have recovered everything. open and see files with your own eyes.
    - I recovered the iPhoto on another hard drive and then built it on another hard drive . Yes its pain in the neck but well worth fixing your stupid mistake of not making a back up in the first place.
    I hope this helps all who are looking for iPhoto recovery and their lovely memories.

  • I have lost my iphone 5 and after sometime I find it in my office but some one has lock it by Icoloud plz help me how to recover my phone

    Dear Friends
    I have lost my iphone 5 in my office  and after sometime I find it in my office in my back drawer but some one has lock it by ICloud plz help me how to recover my phone U have all details of my phone.

    The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords, especially your Apple ID/iCloud password NOW!
    If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
    If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be re-activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
    If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

  • How can I restore my iTunes library via Time Machine after an erase/install and upgrade to Snow Leopard?

    Actual problem:
    I reinstalled all my programs that I need without a hitch. Meanwhile, I've been trying to recover the few files (mostly music) I actually store on my computer's hard drive as opposed to on my external HDs. I use one external HD for my graphic files and the other is strictly for Time Machine backups. I tried to recover my iTunes music, but I got a message that says: "The file: "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I restored (I thought) my iTunes library Username/Music/iTunes." Additionally, I was going to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I have seen that there were issues with Lion and iTunes libraries so I'm a little wary of this.
    Excuse the long explanation, but I figure the problem may possibly be in the details of the weeks prior this problem:
    I have recently been having issues with my iMac. I brought it in to see a Genius twice within the past month and they couldn't seem to find the problem. (It would restart Finder of it's own accord while I was using Adobe CS programs) I figured it was worth backing everything up via Time Machine and doing a complete erase/install/factory reset. I did so and had a problem again, and brought it in again, third time. The Genius did another diagnostics tests and found nothing and said my erase/install probably did the trick, but time will tell. I am, after the erase/rewrite and upgrade running Mac OS X 10.6.3 and previous to this was still running Tiger.

    So, I didn't update iTunes and the rest of it after installing Snow Leopard. My stupidity, I figured that the OS was more up to date than the one I had previously so that all the programs that come with it probably were more current than the ones I was using. However, now that I have updated all my software, I am still getting the same message from iTunes that I was previously. I cannot open iTunes at all, same "The file: "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." message. I'm confused again. Checked a few other threads and whatnot and cannot seem to figure this out.

  • How to recover photos after restoring iPod touch?

    Yesterday, there was an update for the iOS 6, I believe. When I pressed the update button, a message popped up saying that there was a problem with my iPod touch 4G and that I need to restore it. I had absolutely no idea why that message would pop up in the first place because my iPod was working just fine. But I couldn't update my iPod to the newest version if I didn't do what iTunes says... so I was about to restore my iPod, but then I was worried that all of my photos would disappear. So I decided to update my iOS later so that I could transfer all my files on to my computer. I then unplugged my iPod, and tried to turn it on but the home screen wouldn't pop - no matter what I did, all the screen showed was an itunes icon on top with a USB plug-in cord at the bottom. So I had no choice but to restore my iPod. The thing is, once I restored my iPod and all, my photos were all gone and I did not use iCloud as a back-up since a few months ago. All of my recent photos are now gone and I have no idea how to recover them. I've tried programs that aim to recover deleted photos, but they didn't work.
    Is there a way to recover photos after restoring the iPod Touch?

    Hello,
    It is very important to backup your device to the computer before updating or restoring.
    You can restore your device to a previous backup, all the photos that were there when you made the backup should return with it, but I'm afraid that any photos taken or saved after the last backup are unrecoverable.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to resolve the hang-up of TNT4882 after write-transfer

    Hi,
        My GPIB device based on TNT4882  can correctly receive the data sent from my VISA app using viPrintf, and my GPIB device can also write data to my VISA app using viRead through GPIB, like "Acery,XXXXX,xxxxxxxxx,2.5-5.20-23". But Everytime my VISA app always poped up an TIMEOUT error on the function of viRead and I showed the maybe receiving data, my VISA app can show the correct data "Acery,XXXXX,xxxxxxxxx,2.5-5.20-23". Not only the VISA app pops up the TIMEOUT error, but also that my gpib program running on my device could not detect the termination condition like END,EOS,ERR,B_done,B_tlcint after it sent out the data .  I have no idea on how to solve this problem so far.
        The GPIB program for sending out data  in Programed I/O mode is coded following the example of ESP-488 (http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/223/lang/en) in the dir of ESP-488\NOTNT\NGPIB_IO.c and EX5.c)  as an example. I cannot find any defect about the register programming.
    Now I would show the write-data code sequence:
             When I detect the TNT4882 is in Talker mode from ADSR, I will call the initializing writing code for writing-data-transfer:
    TNT_Out(R_cmdr,F_resetfifo);
      TNT_Out(R_cnt0, (char)(twos_cnt));      /* Load twos compliment count     */
      TNT_Out(R_cnt1, (char)(twos_cnt>>8));   /*  into TNT count registers      */
      TNT_Out(R_cnt2, (char)(twos_cnt>>16));
      TNT_Out(R_cnt3, (char)(twos_cnt>>24));
      TNT_Out(R_imr0,B_glint);              /* Set write to imr0 to be sure   */
      TNT_Out(R_auxmr,HR_auxrj|0);          /*   B_to is cleared              */
      TNT_Out(R_imr1, B_err);         /* End transfer on err            */
      TNT_Out(R_eosr, 0);        /* Set EOS byte                   */
      TNT_Out(R_auxmr,HR_auxra|F_hlda)
      TNT_Out(R_cfg , (B_tlchlte | CCEN ));  // I don`t set time-out attribute.
      TNT_Out(R_auxmr,F_hldi);               /* Hold off immediately           */
      TNT_Out(R_cmdr, F_go);
    During the writing-data-transfer, I use the status of END|EOS|ERR|B_done|B_tlcint to
    control the data transfer. All the data is written to FIFOB for sending out.
           After aborting transfer of writing:
     TNT_Out(R_cmdr,F_stop);
     TNT_Out(R_cmdr,F_resetfifo);
     if(TNT_In(R_isr1)&B_end)                /* If we received an END          */
        TNT_Out(R_auxmr,F_clrEND);            /*   Clear status bit             */
     if(TNT_In(R_isr1)&B_err) {
        TNT_Out(R_auxmr,F_clrERR);            /* Clear error bit                */
     if(io_type==OUTPUT) {
          TNT_Out(R_hssel,F_onechip|B_go2sids); /* if error set to idle state.    */
    Now I showed up some registers of TNT4882 during different phase.
    registers after initialization of write-transfer and before write-transfer:
    isr0 0x21
    isr1 0x0
    isr3 0x48
    adsr ox4a
    sasr 0x70
    sts1 0x10
    sts2 0x9a
    bsr  0x21
    registers after write-transfer:
    isr0 0x21
    isr1 0x2
    isr3 0x48
    adsr ox4a
    sasr 0x70
    sts1 0x10
    sts2 0x9a
    bsr  0x21
    registers after a few seconds(TNT was still Talker):
    isr0 0x21
    isr1 0x0
    isr3 0x48
    adsr ox4a
    sasr 0x70
    sts1 0x10
    sts2 0x9a
    bsr  0x31
           After write-transfer, my device program cannot detect any condition of ERR,END,EOS,DONE,TLCINT in
    isr0,isr1,isr2, isr3 to do the post-termination action.
           As you can see, some registers above almost donn`t change. I really donn`t know how to solve the
    TIMEOUT problem and how to notify my VISA app that the transfer is completed.
           At last could you give me an example of how to initialize the write-transfer?

    Can you try below, maybe it is helpful for you:
    This error may occurs when the interrupt line (IRQ) of the AT-GPIB/TNT interface is not configured properly. This incorrect configuration makes it so that the interrupts generated by the GPIB hardware are not detected by the GPIB driver. The GPIB hardware cannot notify the software that any operation is complete. Make sure the appropriate IRQ value was used when installing the module:
    If you are using a non plug and play AT-GPIB/TNT, make sure that the jumper settings match the value used when configuring the driver module.
    If you are using a plug and play AT-GPIB/TNT, make sure the value in the file generated by the isadump utility matches the one used when configuring the driver module.
    In both cases, if the appropriate IRQ value was used when configuring the driver module, try changing the IRQ value used. Remove the module and re-install with the new resource settings. For more information on configuring the resources for plug and play AT-GPIB/TNT interfaces, refer to the README and README.PNP text files included with the nigpib package.

    Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod.  For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:

    Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3
