How to recover deleted photos from iphoto

Help???
I tried to back up my iphoto pictures to an external hard drive. I guess instead of copy the 'iphoto library' icon from my Pictures folder, i copies the 'iphoto library' folder in the 'Aperture Library' folder.
Then i deleted some of my old photos thinking that I have backed up the images. But to my horror, when i copied the 'iphoto library' folder from my external hard drive back to my laptop, it doesn't work.
How can i retrieve my photos??

You'll need file recovery software like File Salvage

Move the photos you wish to delete to Trash in iPhoto and then empty the Trash in iPhoto by click Empty iPhoto Trash in the pull down menu under iPhoto.

  • How do I delete photos from iPhoto

I want to delete "crap" photos from iPhoto, ones that quite simply are "*****". How do I get rid of them once and for all. I notice I can do command delete and they go to the garbage I empty garbage and they are gone. The problem is that when I go back to "photos" iPhoto has saved the space where they were including a space that was the original size of the photo - for example it will show a space of 2.4 meg size. What's up with that? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I do that and the photos are gone. But when I return to the events album that I deleted them from, iPhoto has saved the space they occupied and it appears that this "space" takes up as much hard drive as the full photo even though the space is blank.

  • How do I delete photos from iPhoto without deleting them from my hard drive

I've imported a bunch of photos from my hard drive.
I would now like to delete some of these photos from iPhoto but would still like to keep them on my hard drive in case I need to access them in future.
However, when I delete a photo from iPhoto and move it to the Trash, once Trash is emptied it deletes the original from the hard disc as well.
How do I get around this?
    Thanks
    Nick

    Thanks guys.
Can I hide an entire Event?
I used to use Picasa on a PC. When you make any changes in Picasa (even rotating a picture) it creates a copy. Any photos you have altered get named 'Originals' so when you import into iPhoto you end up with hundreds of Events called Originals with near duplicate photos.
So probably a third of my images (around 1500) are near dupes which I want out of the application but want to keep secure on my hard drive...
The pitfalls of switching to iPhoto from Picasa I guess (that said, iPhoto looks great)...

  • How do I delete photos from iPhoto on my iPad?

How do I delete photo's from iPhoto on my iPad?

Acually King Penguin I think this works in Photo not iPhoto on the ipad. All my comments refer to iPhoto on the iPad, not iPhoto on a laptop or desktop MAC. I find iPhoto on the iPad to be very unfinished application. As near as I can tell when you make an edit in iPhoto it creates a copy of your photo that it puts who knows where. If you actually want an album that you can get out of the black hole called iPhoto you have to save those photos in camera role. the steps are:
    1, Switch to edit mode
    2. Select the photo to be 'deleted' (actually hidden not deleted)
3 . Touch the X icon on the bottom of the screen and that will hde the photo
Easy enough but why not use the same well chosen tools used in Photos? Why make it different so that you have to experiment or refer to the non-existent "iPhoto on iPad manual"?
But now comes the real fun part. Suppose you have edited a number of photos and hidden a bunch more and you want an album of the editied and un-hidden photos to use as you see fit. In my case I am totally unintersted in creating a Flicker account. I don't want to tweet them or facebook them. I want to get them out of the iPhoto black hole. Here are the steps I found. I would be thrilled if someone has found a better way. What I found is multistep very slow process for each photo to be added to "Camera Roll". Camera Roll is the way to get Photos accessable in Photo and thereby available outside the black hole.
1.Go to Edit mode (upper right corener)
    2. Select All Photos (upper left corner)
    3. Choose a photo out of the photo matrix.
    4. touch the Share icon. that's the one that looks like the select icon in Photos (bad choice Apple. i kept thinking I mucst be doing something wrong since it sort of looked like select bu wasn't).
    5. Touch Camera Roll
    6. Touch Selected
    7. Wait. This is a slow process
    8. Touch done
Repeat steps 3 through 8 for each idividual photo.
I gave up after 13 out of 60 photos. Way, way too slow. it would have take over an hour to do this six step process for the 60 photos. Instead load the photos from the flash card in my PC. Use Photoshop or Picasa and forget using m iPad for on the fly editing and showing photos which is what I had hoped to do.

  • With the new iphoto update, how do i delete photos from iPhoto?

how to delete unwanted photos from iPhoto on a  mac with new update?

You're referring to the new Photos application and its library, right.
Control (right) - click on the photo you want to delete and select Delete X photos from the contextual menu:
Next, use the File ➙ Show Recently Deleted menu option to go a window with all of the deleted photos that haven't been finally removed from the library.
Either use the Delete All button or select just those you want to finally remove completely.
This window is a safety net so you can undelete photos that have been accidentally deleted.

  • How do I delete photos from iPhoto that I imported to my library from my iPhone?

I imported a ton of pictures from my iPhone 5 to iPhoto (400+) and I want to completely delete them from iPhoto. Is there a quick, easy way to do this? I really do not want to go through my photo library and delete each individual photo, so if there is a way to delete already imported photos from my iPhone in iPhoto all at once, that would be great! Also, my Last Import folder is completely empty, so that's no help to me at all.

    Make a smart album
    File -> New Smart Album
    Camera -> is -> iPhone
    That will find them all
    Then
Shift-command-delete to move them to the trash. Empty the trash. Do this in batches of about 100 at a time.

  • How do i delete photos from iPhoto without deleting them permanently from my macbook pro?

I'm sorry but i'm new to all this. When i move photos from iphoto to the trash will that also delete that particular photo from my macbook pro storage entirely?

To remove a photo from iPhoto and your Mac:
Put it in the iPhoto Trash, then enpty it. Then empty the system trash as well
If you want to remove a photo from iPhoto but keep it on your Mac:
First Export the file from iPhoto (File -> Export) to whereever you want it and then go through the steps above.
Confusion arises as the notion that you would want to remove a pic from iPhoto but keep it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's like saying I want to remove one address from Address Book, but still keep it on my Mac. The point of iPhoto and such apps is that they are used to manage your photos. Anything that you need to do with the pics cn be done either with or via iPhoto.

  • I move iphoto albums to backup, now, how do I delete photos from iphoto on my hd?

It looks to me like once I move an album to my ext hd that the photos are not removed from my iphoto on my internal hd?  I want to free up space but only want to back up certain albums.

How are you moving them? Exporting does not remove material from iPhoto.
Why not have two Libraries, one on your internal drive, one on the external?
Here's one way to do what you want:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

  • How to recover deleted photos from the iPhone 5s?

I have taken many photos over the last few days on my Iphone 5s. However, i deleted these photos off photostream as i needed the space on my icloud for my apps. When i went onto my camera roll around 12 hours later, all my  recent photos had dissapeared (including the photos taken earlier that morning). Does anyone know any way of recovering these photos???

Sorry, your photos are gone. You should have imported/saved them to your computer before you deleted them from Photo Stream.

  • How to recover deleted photos from nokia N97?

I stupidly deleted them and now in a major panic. Is there any way to get them back?

Sorry for a late reply. Well yes, you don't have to send it to a specialist for data recovery. You can do it yourself. Usually there is a small piece of memory card insides your Nokia N97 phone, take it out and use a card reader to connect to a computer. (as is more secure).
Then install a photo recovery software on the computer and perform a scanning.
If you are Windows user, take a try of this photo recovery software.
For Mac OS X, go to Photo Recovery Mac.
Both programs have been tested to work great.
WARNING: After accidentally deleting files from your phone memory card, do not attempt to copy additional files onto the card before attempting file recovery as this will overwrite the files and make them much more difficult if not impossible to recover. Best regards.
I know that god always helps with everything.

    sorry for bad english.

If you don't have a backup because you haven't synced in so long, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Next time,  you might want sync more frequently so you have a backup and not let your friends have access to your phone.
