How to recover DVD backup of user data

Under windows 7 home  premium  I did a backup of user data to 25 DVDs before restoring the original OS from the Restore partition.  Now I want to restore user data from the DVDs. I can not find anything under recovery and restore. but I did find a EXE called RecoveryMrg on the 1st DVD.  Clicking on it I get an hourglass when I put the cursor over the window of files on the dvd.
In another forum post it suggest this should take a while. Well it has been a couple of hours.
On the resource monitor DISK tab I do not see any activity to the DVD drive. (But I am not sure it should show op there)
Is this long time normal? Or is this the wrong way to restore the user files?
Thanks

Hi C_J_W. What program did you use to create the backups, Windows Backup? Here are a few documents on the topic, which will hopefully point you in the right direction:
Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using Microsoft Windows Backup and Restore
Restoring Files from Backup
Let me know if that helps.

how to recover my backups?? i used migration assistant but none of my old files showed up. I backed up daily and did a full disk back up twice

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

  • How to recover in the Scrip the data associated with %TOSELECTION%

In the ADVANCE of the logic package I have written the following PROMPT:
PROMPT(COPYMOVEINPUT,%SELECTION%,%TOSELECTION%,"Select the members to COPY and where to","%CATEGORY_DIM%,%TIME_DIM%")
What I would like to know is how to recover the data associated with %TOSELECTION% in the Script.
The script code is the following:
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET FLOW=F99P
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET GROUPS=NON_GROUP
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET RPTCURRENCY=LC, EUR
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET C_DATASRC=INPUT

    *IS AST
           *REC(FACTOR=1,C_CATEGORY=????,TIME=????)

I must copy both category and time, with the selection of values brought by %TOSELECTION%, but I´m not sure how to recover this data.

  • How to recover old backups

    Hi Guys,
Started time capsule about 1.5 years ago. Backsup my macbook pro daily. 3 days ago I upgraded my hard drive from 320GB to 500GB. Now I realise that my previous backup files dont exist.I know its in there somewhere because the time capsule has about 140GB space left.
My question is , when I enter time capsule , the dates dont go back to the time when I first started the back up.So how do I get access to it?
Appreciate if you guys can help.

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

  • My Vista system crashed due to a corrupted windows file. When I reformatted C:/ & reloaded firefox & tbird, my bookmarks were gone. I have an image of the drive , but I don't know how to recover them and get the data back where I can access it.

Vista system crashed due to a corrupted system file. The C drive was reformatted, and windows reloaded, along with the rest of my programs.
Before the drive was reformatted, an image was made of it on a USB drive to save all the data. Now I need to know how to get the Bookmarks back for Firefox, and the Address Book back for Thunderbird.
    Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. It worked very well, for both Firefox and Tbird.
One hitch, until I remembered: those are all hidden files, in hidden folders. I had a devil of a time finding the "roaming" folder, until I found out how to unhide everything. In years past, I used DOS for that kind of thing. Explorer is much less user-friendly. Now that I know how to do it, it's simple.
    Thanks again for the guidance

  • URGENT How to recover from a drop user comand

    Hi.
My database is 9i release 2. Archive is not enable. Backup: cold backup (physical and exp)
A drop user cascade command was accidentally issued.
Given the circuntances, what options do i have
    - Will flashblack help
    - Can i use logminer
    Thanks ind advance ...!
    PD. URGENT PLEASE ....!

Whoever decided to run in noarchive log mode should explain that the the data is lost, but that it doesn't matter. Firm but fair.
I had to do this once. I inherited a database and only discovered that didn't have archivelogmode switched on when it crashed (it was my first DBA gig). Since then it's the first thing I check before I do anything in a production environment.
    Cheers, APC

  • How to eject DVD in single user mode

    Hi All,
When starting my iMac, I get a white screen, the apple logo and the spinning wheel. After a while it goes away and I have just a white screen.
I've reset PRAM, to no avail (it did do something, the computer start up sound now occurs each restart).
I can't start-up on the Mac OS install DVD because I have a DVD in the computer already and I can't seem to eject it.
I can't get into Open Firmware mode to eject the disk there, I'm hoping someone can give me the command to eject the disc from Single-User mode.
    Chris

Try the methods listed in this page:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10333570-263.html
The method for Terminal may also work in single-user mode.

  • How to recover a deleted temp user profile folders?

I have a user that logged in to their machine a probably ignored the fact that it said it was loggin on a temporary profile. This user has been working off some documents and since it was a laptop only closed the lid instead of doing a shutdown...
A few days later, the users was prompted to reboot the computer to apply windows updates... after the reboot... I guess it logged it to the proper profile and now the user couldn't find documents that were created under my documents.
When I started to look at the laptop and looked at previous version of the C drive that was available, I noticed there was a C:\users\TEMP folder that was there before the reboot containing some of the files but I can't find this folder anymore.
By reading around I found that the temp folder is deleted when logging off? Not sure about that  but it sure looks that way.  Is there a way we can recover this temp folder... at least the my documents from it?
