How to recover keychain generated password in a website?

While registering for a website, keychain offered me a passcode and I accepted that. Now the website won't let keychain autofill and I don't know the passcode. Since my account in that website is not yet activated, there is no forgot password option.

If the password was saved, it has to be in one of your keychains. It may not have the name you expect. It's an item of type "Web form password." You can also try searching for it in Safari > Preferences > Passwords.
You can also try repairing the keychain by following these instructions:

If you're using iCloud Keychain, see below.

    Hi BobRz,
As this is a new issue for me, I believe I had the incorrect approach, maybe you can help me. What I want to do is recover a few files in my desktop, and some information i had on the iCal application and the Mail application as well.As I do not want to do a full migration into this computer (which is not mine) I believe that starting the damaged MBP in Target mode should allow me to search and cop the files I need. But:
    1. Can I open the Ical and mail apps to look for the info I need while reading it as an external HD  ?
    2. Do the target machine (my friends) still need to be updated to ML o Mavs so that it recognizes my MBP as an external drive if starting it in Target mode ? (no migration assistant)
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

  • How to recover a lost passwords?

    Hi everyone,
I recently tried to help a friend in installing software she has for her Mac.
I was prompted for a password but she could not remember what her password was since she has not installed anything for a while.
I thought it was kind of careless of her not to write it down but I did not give her a speech about it.
Can anyone inform me how to recover of change passwords please?
Or a link to instruction please?
    Rio.

NOTE: The following information has been publicly disclosed on a number of Internet sites, and is not a new find. I'm simply repeating it here for the sake of completeness.
Read the detailed section of this article for step-by-step instructions on regaining access to your root account.
Originally posted by QuantumFusion on the MacNN forums, and repeated with slight readbility changes, here are the steps to regain access to root:
Click Restart at the login window
While the computer is restarting, hold down "Command-S" until you see text scrolling through the window. This boots the computer into single user mode.
    At the Localhost% prompt type:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    /sbin/SystemStarter
You will then see various services starting up.
When the Localhost% prompt reappears, type:
    passwd root
It will then ask you to type the new root password twice, so do so.
After entering the new password, type:
    reboot
At the login window, enter username root wih the new password. Once you are connected, you can use the Multiple Users application (/Applications/Utilities) to change your normal user's password, or create a new user account.
    Good luck.

  • How To Recover A Lost Password

I don't know the administrator's password, does anyone know how to recover it? I am the administrator, and I'm posting this from a standard account. Not being able to log into MY account limits what I am able to do.

I don't believe you can recover it. You can reset it without knowing the old one:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106156
and scroll down to the last section. You'll need to boot from an install CD.

  • How do I get iCloud to fill in the keychain generated password on my ebay app?

I used iCloud keychain to generate my password for ebay on my iMac.  Now I want to open the ebay app on my iPhone.  iCloud won't fill the in password.
    Is there a solution?
    Thanks.

The best way would actually going to settings on your iPhone - safari - Passwords & Autofill - Saved Passwords - "scroll down" - select the corresponding website - keep your finger on the password - copy -paste
This is the easiest way so far to access your third party apps on your devices.
I hope Apple will change that soon.

  • How to recover the admin password

Enabling the parental control function has changed the admin status to a managed one which was not intended.
How can I recover the admin status? I have tried to follow a few instructions found in the internet that suggested to use the single mode, but I could not find the necessary admin files that needed to be removed so that the Admin Assistant program would start at booting. Instead, the system is not starting at all.
How can I solve this problem?

    Chong007,
boot into Recovery mode by holding down ⌘R as your MacBook Pro starts up. When the OS X Utilities menu appears on your desktop, select Utilities from your menu bar, and from there select Terminal. In Terminal, run the following command:
    resetpassword
Follow its instructions, and your administrative user’s password will be changed accordingly. Exit Terminal, then select Restart from the Apple menu to reboot into normal mode. When the login screen appears, log in as your administrative user, and then reset your administrative user’s password keychain so that it won’t constantly ask you for your administrative user’s password when you need to do administrative tasks.
If you  find that your administrative user is still parentally managed, you could reboot into Single User mode, and enter the following commands there:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    /bin/rm -f /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    /sbin/reboot
These should allow you to create a new administrative user, from which you should be able to reset your original administrative user to a non-managed state.

  • How to recover my administrator password in OS X Lon 10.7.5 on Macbook 13-inch, Early 2009

    I have a macbook 13-inch, Early 2009

How can I recover or resset my admin. password?, because I put that I remember but is incorrect.

The only way to reformat (erase) and restore to factory settings is by booting from the install disc that came with the Mac. Apple install discs are, "machine specific" meaning they can only be used on the Mac they shipped with.

  • How do I edit the password for a website stored in Keychain?

I have an issue.  Safari is capturing the wrong password when it saves the password to Keychain.  There is no way for me to change or edit the password.  Every time I try entering the correct password and login, I get a prompt asking me to upgrade the information stored in keychain.  Whenever I click on accept, it store the wrong password.
Issue is after I click on Submit, the website replaces the password with a hash code.  Safari is capturing the hash code.
Is there a way to EDIT the stored password?   I guess Apple programmers never thought about that right?
My only other option right now is to forget about Keychain and buy Lastpass Premium for all my iPads.

There isn't a way to edit the stored password on your iOS device at this time.
However, if your keychain is synced to a Mac running Mavericks (10.9.x) or Yosemite (10.10), you can edit the password using the Keychain Access app, and the edited password will sync back over to your iOS device(s).
