If you have not kept a back-up during this period, there is no way you can recover them...

i know that!! After you delete them and then compose a new text it is still there. Basically you know when you send an email to someone and do not store them it still auto populates their name. This is what happens with my phone. I Google this issue and learn some knowledge about data eraser tips. Maybe most people still don’t know that actual contents of file are not really deleted when performing simple deletion operation on your iPhone or other devices. But they are just marked for deletion and not shown in the file system of your iOS device. The actual data are still physically present on your iPhone. The same thing happens to me, but it doesn't require deleting a contact. When I delete/replace a contact's number, the Messages.app still autocompletes the number with the contact's name and references it as "other".

At the present time, the only way to clear that is to restore the phone as new. Perhaps a future iOS update will give us the option to clear that cache.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

You need to hook up your iPhone, select it under Devices, and then go to the Photos tab on the Device Profile, and uncheck Sync Photos, then sync. That should delete all photos that were downloaded from your computer.
When you say you have 2 separate albums of the same sets of pictures, what 2 albums are you referring to? Can you provide us with names of those "duplicate" albums?

If you connect your iPhone to a computer running Linux (Ubuntu version in my case) it will become recognized as a normal USB memory pen-drive.

I have a new MacBook Pro and I followed these instructions, downlonading and installing the new Flash plugin. But when I looked in "/Library/Internet Plugins" there was no folder called "Disabled Plugins".
However, I did see two versions of Flash:
_Flash Player.plugin with old date
Flash Player.plugin with todays date
I deleted _Flash Player.plugin and this fixed the problem.

All sorted! dont suppose you know how to fix another problem I have??? for weeks now, since updating to ios5 I think, for some reason every time I have tried to log onto app store it says CANNOT CONNECT TO ITUNES STORE. It's nothing to do with my computer, and I've been to the Geniius bar but they couldnt help and nothing I seem to do lets me update my Apps and even worse, I cant even buy any more. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple communities.
iCloud data is not part of your iCloud backup, therefore restoring your phone will not help recover your deleted contacts.
If your iCloud contacts are synced with your computer, then you can recover any deleted contacts from the backup you keep of your computer. Unfortunately if you do not sync your iCloud contacts to a computer or you do not keep a backup of the computer you will be unable to recover them.
