How to recover lots of images files placed in the trash

Hello, I've made a huge mistake. I've run an Automator script that has placed all my image files in the trash. I've not empty the trash yet. Does anyone have an idea on how to easily recover these files ? I've got around 4,000 files....

Are you using iPhoto 6?
If you are, go into iPhoto and set the view and sort to Film Rolls, then use iPhoto as a guide for determining the proper roll for each file.
The structure of the Originals, Data (thumbnails), and Modified folders under iPhotoLibrary in iPhoto 6 are all Year/Roll/Picture. So, to recreate the links, you need to put each picture back into it's proper roll.
If that's too daunting a task, you can start over, and reimport those files that were moved-maybe creating a new iPhoto Library first (hold Option while opening the app)- but this will not carry any organization that you may have had originally.
If you're using an earlier version of iPhoto (4 or 5) the pics were organized by date - Year/Month/Day/Picture - so it may be a bit more of a hassle to fix.

Unlock them first.
Open terminal.app,
enter the following command:
sudo chflags -R nouchg ~/.Trash
(press return, enter admin password, press return again)
#this will unlock them in THE CURRENT user directory Trash folder#

How to add, JS and image files in portalapp.xml

Hi All,
I was trying to implement multiple level hover detailed navigation in iview for which I got couple of css scripts from web which include javascripts.
I placed these files in respective folders and their reference in header.jsp but when the iview is rendered in browser the reference is changing to .htm
So please help me out how to place these script / image files in PAR file and their reference in portalapp.xml & header.jsp.

1) The CSS file you have , save as "jsp" file and please place in the jsp folder.
suppose your jsp is header.jsp and your css file is header_style.jsp
include the css jsp - header_style.jsp in header.jsp like
<%-- an include clause for css file --%>

2) All your images , please place in the "images" folder.
3) To access the images use like below: in CSS file (jsp)
in header_style.jsp

It's a pitty that obtaining OBP/ALOM updates requires a service contract. I got a V210 recently.
Unfortunately both OBP and ALOM are the intial release 4.8.2 / 1.0.I agree but it's probably also because you need support in case it fails ;-)

InDesign cc couldn't open the script, I get an error message that it is not a supported file type. I tried this first before using the "place multipage pdf" in my InDesign document. The script which comes with InDesign cc works, but places the pages outside of the document. That's what I'm trying to figure out how to do. I had no trouble doing this in PageMaker 15 years ago. I don't know why it doesn't work on my computer??

I'm not an applet programmer so I can't give you much advice there.
If you want to stream the file from the server before it's entirely uploaded, then I don't believe you can treat it like a normal file. If you're just wanting to throw it up there and then listen to it, then you can treat it like a normal file.
But again, I'm not entirely certain. You might be able to stream the start of the file from the server while you're still uploading the end of it, but it probably depends on what method you're using to do the transfer.

Best way to store a lot of image files??

I am working on a new project which involve user upload image to server and then do searching and view image. there will be a lot of image files. image will be displayed in web page as thumbnails, so there may be resized pic stored in server or resize on the fly.
What is the best way to store image like this? as files in file system? database? etc...?

Since seraching is invloved use a database. A file system is not good place to search in.
Using a database will allow you to store additional data as well such as comments about the images or the ratings given by the users.
Of course you will have to develop a propper table structure for this.
Also do not generate thumbnails all the time instead cache them once they are created. Atleast the thumbnails of the images that are displayed often.
Also store the last updted dates with the images so you can loow the images to be cached by the clients or the proxy server. That will reduce repatitive requests for the same image from same client.

When you know exactly what are the differences between the BDB access methods, then you will be able to figure out which is the best method for your requirements or to ask a more specific question.

i'm using Apache Jakarta HTTPClient to create a new HTTP connection to the webserver and sending a new POST request, which holds the image file. (So it's RFC1867 conform)
there is also an open source implementation of such an applet on sourceforge. it's also called JUpload, but i think it's not maintained any more.

How can I view all image files

I have a large number (many thousands) of digital image files which over the last 14 years have been labelled and filed very poorly. I am now seeking to sort them out. Is there a way to see all the images in a folder structure? So the situation is thus, I have a folder tree with subfolders and subfolders of subfolders etc.. Is there a view where I can see all the images together without having to trawl through the endless subfolders.
I know that iPhoto provides this but I don't have enough space to import all my images into a single new instance of iPhoto (I am try to address the space problem separately), whilst I sort that out I would like to be able to browse all the images that are in one folder structure (there are many folder structures on several drives) at a time.

I have a 2.5GHz Core i5 with 12GB ram and I'm running OS X 10.7.2
I intend to upgrade to 16GB ram in the next couple of months but could do this now if I necessary.
What I have done since I posted is to clear one of the (300GB) external drives, set up an instance of iPhoto on it and I am currently importing 36,000 images (mainly RAW) as I type. It could take a while
This import is the first installment - there are probably twice as many images spread across all my five external drives.
I know I have been inexcusably remiss with my housekeeping but only recently changed to a Mac and on my previous PC's everything was so hard and slow that it was easier not to bother, now I need to sort it all out so that I can make full of use of my incredible iMac and the brilliant software.
I am hoping that I will have enough ram to make it worthwhile - but happy to upgrade sooner if I must.
Hopefully iPhoto will also recognise duplicates which is my other problem.

a search for the image by filename would do the trick.
