How to recover original file names?

Hi! Please help me.
I accidentally changed the names of the videos I was using for Adobe Premiere. So now whenever I open the Adobe Premiere file, all the videos are gone and replaced with a red "media offline" screen. Is there any way I can recover the original file names without having to do it manually one by one?
I've tried going back to the restore point but it's not working. I can't locate it one by one too because I don't remember which video is which.
I've already edited around 50 videos in that project so it would take me a loooot of time to do it all over again. :((
Hope you can help me.

If I understand you correctly, you changed the name of the file in Windows and do not remember what the file names used to be. You edited these in Premiere Pro, and now the project files you have created do not know where to find the video files.
Is that correct?
If so, I have what may be a simple solution for you.
Assuming you are not maxing out each file so they are all exactly the same duration, the number of minutes and seconds and frames ought to get you where you want to go. Almost as unique as a fingerprint on my PC, but I never capture a bunch of videos that are identical in duration - although it is possible to do so, I suppose.
Open a project file. Checking the properties of each file should reveal theoriginal  file name as well as the duration, which is also available right on the thumbnail image (see the image below).  Then open the Media Browser and look at the durations on each clip. This should be enough to help you either relink, or change the name in Windows back to what it was originally. This is still one at a time, but it should not take too long. A pen and paper might help with 50 videos.

  • How to keep original file name in File- Soap- Soap- File scenario?

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a requirement as bleow:
    There are two PI landscape for two different company and they are communicating using Soap adapter. We need to pass a flat file cross the two PI now, and need to keep the original file name.Anyone could shed some lights on this?
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh - See if you can make use of Dynamic configuration bean. I'm not sure if it works but you can give a try..
    Unknown use case of DynamicConfigurationBean: Store file name to JMS header without mapping
    Adding DynamicConfigurationBean in the Module Processor - SAP NetWeaver Process Integration - SAP Library
    Set the adapter specific attributes in file sender channel for filename
    swap the file name value to any other soap adapter attribute in the receiver channel using the above module
    again swap the attributes in soap sender channel(your second system)
    receiver file channel enable ASMA.

  • Recover original file name after rename

    I apologize if I'm not asking this question in the right forum...
    I received some .MOV files from a video shoot that have been renamed. I took notes on the camera-given file names, and I'm trying to recover that information. Is there any way to reveal previous namings of a file?
    Thanks.

    Phil Harvey's exiftool has a tag- OriginalFileName. Whether the attribute is set or not is something that you'll have to test.

  • How to change original file name?

    When I rename a video, it doesn't change the title in info or the name which is shown at the top of the QuickTime window. Can I change that name?

    If the file is already open in Quicktime, changing it in the Finder won't take affect until it is next opened, and that's if you don't save anything from Quicktime.   If you Save As from Quicktime, then you can change the file name both in the Finder and Quicktime simultaneously.  Now normally it shouldn't allow you to change the name from the Finder if the file is open in Quicktime.   But who knows what is going on in your machine if it just did!

  • Acrobat 5.0 How do I keep the original file name after I have converted a Word doc to PDF?

    MY colleague has a certain setting in Acrobat that allows him to keep the original file name when he converts documents from Word to PDF. Every time I convert Word, Acrobat overwrites the filename and names it "untitled.pdf". I would like to retain the original name and for Acrobat to simply add the .pdf file extension to the original name. How do I do this?

    I have no idea what you are doing for sure. Does your WORD document have a name. I opened a WORD document and selected the Acrobat Distiller printer for AA5, I got the file menu for selecting the name and it was automatically filled in with the DOC changed to PDF. If you are using PDF Maker, then you will need to search there - I removed PDF Maker for AA5 years ago and can't view that part. I see the same types of options in PDF Maker for AA8.1.2 as I saw in the printer for AA5 and guess it is the same. The untitled.pdf suggests that you never saved the original DOC file so it has a name.

  • How can I check original file name

    Hi all
    How can I check the original file name of a slide while in Keynote.
    Mike Hooley

    Hi Sara,
    Thankyou for your reply. What I meant was , how do you tell the original format , for example microsoft word, excel , powerpoint , jpeg, tiff , that the file was before it was converted to a PDF.
    So for example, i get a pdf file from someone and i want to know was it an exel file or a word file of  a Jpeg or scanned doc before they converted it to a pdf.
    It appears to me this information is not availabel in the file properties unless i am missing something.

  • When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the original file name being replaced during the downloading process?

    When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the file name being changed during this downloading process?

    Hi Glenyse,
    Here are my steps.
    1.  I upload multiple image (jpg) files onto my photo album.
    2.  I select the "sharing" by email option for this album.
    3.  I enter the recipient's email address.
    4.  The recipient receives my message and clicks on the link.
    5.  The recipient accesses my photo album and clicks on one of the images.
    6.  The image opens up to its own screen.
    7.  The recipient selects the "download" and then save file option.
    Here is the part I do not understand.  For some reason, during this "download" process, the original name which I have given to the file is replaced by different name.  So I was hoping that someone knows how to prevent the file name from being changed during the "download and save" process.
    Much appreciated if you can help me find a solution to this problem.

  • All excel attachment files in Outlook web app (email) are renamed "attachment.ashx", losing their original file names. Why? And how do I fix this?

    While the email displays the attachment with the "original file name.xls", when I click and download, it is called "attachment.ashx", and I lose all the original downloaded file names. This started happening about 3 weeks ago after a Firefox update. Suggestions for a fix?

    Outlook Web Access sends illegal Content-Disposition headers and this is no longer allowed in Firefox 8. The server needs to be fixed.

  • How can I hide file names in a photostream?

    How can I hide file names in a shared photo stream on icloud.  I don't want people to see how many pictures I take at an event.  Can this be done to pictures already posted?

    The Shared Photo Stream uses the filename of the original image file as the title that is shown in the stream.  If you want to hide the original filename, export the image to a folder in the Finder, rename it, then reimport it to share it.  You can rename the files directly when exporting.
    Or, if you do not mind to change the names of the originals in Aperture use the command "Metadata > Batch change" and change the title of the image, with the option "Apply to Original file" enabled and "Add metadata from" set to "None".
    To rename the photos already shared, delete them from the Shared Album and share them again.

    Hi
    Just for completeness, what version of VB.NET are you using?
    Here is a complete project to copy all the files with the added "ABL," at the start of each line.  You need to start a new Project with a BLANK default Form1, and replace all of Form1 code with the code below. When you run this project, you
    need to use the 2 buttons to set up the ORIGINAL file folder and a folder to place the copies. You need to check if the file EXTENSION is correct (I assumed txt), and check the text to add to each line is correct.  Once all is set up you should have a
    big red button to start the operation.
    NOTE: it is important that you try this out on a copy of some of the files to verify accuracy BEFORE trying on original files. Make sure you have a good back up of the original files before doing anything else.

  • Rman backup - how to preserve the file names exactly when backing up?

    Hi,
    I have been using RMAN for backup and I want to change things so that it is
    easier to go back to the old tried-and-true method of recovery by recreating
    a control file manually via the trace file, which lists the files out individually.
    The first change - to change from compression to copy.. is fine.
    But even then, rman names the files some weird name.
    I am not trying this- using the disk format command is supposed to work..
    rman nocatalog << EOF
    connect target;
    allocate channel for maintenance type disk parallelism 1 \
    format '/agile/ora_flash_recovery_area/PECHA/backupset/backup/%U';
    backup as copy database;
    release channel;
    but it still is using wierd (auto-generated) names for the data files as it backs up.
    Has anyone else got this working? Thanks Marvin.

    Ok here is why I would like exact filenames..
    1) to speed the time of recovery. I am much more familiar with traditional recovery methods than RMAN, and while I myself installed and suggested RMAN for backups, our other (11i) database does not use RMAN and so I am more familiar with traditional recovery. So to be able to recover quickly I want to have these files as close as possible to the original names so that I can use my standard script (from a trace file) to recreate the control fiile. If I can get RMAN to spit out the filies with original names but keep RMAN for making the backup, I may ditch the rman bacjup script in chron and write a traditional hot backup script which copies the files the old fashioned way.
    2) to reduce cloning time. The RMAN duplicate command is not as good as I thought. I was actually easier for me to restore RMAN backups first to a box that has all the same paths, and THEN shutdown (cold) these files and copy them cold to another server, and restore from there. Agaiin if I can get the original file names, I could choose to do recovery either way (RMAN or traditional) in a real emergency instead of being forced to use rman.
    3) to be able to switch to a backup file in the FRA without having to rename it. Seems logical if it is already named correctly.
    thanks ! Marvi

  • Batch rename files preserving the original file name in metadata

    How can I batch rename files while preserving the original file name in metadata? (Don't want the old file name as part of the new file name)

    With a simple terminal script. More details needed, though.

  • Need action to save a copy with original file name with suffix

    Hi All,
    I am using photoshop 7 (yeah its old, but working fine for me for general purposes). The problem is I have got this new task where I have to provide 3 copies of the same image but with different portions of it. I have several images (.jpeg) which I need to crop two parts of the image and save as two new image files. The requirement is that I need the copy images to bear the same name as the original and with a suffix to identify which cropped portion of the image is it. example, original file name is AB1001.jpg (1600x1200), 1st cropped image name to be AB1001_P.jpg (200x250) and the 2nd cropped image name to be AB1001_Q.jpg(100x180). I have around a 180 files, so need to do it in a batch, pls suggest how can it be done.
    Any help in this regard is much appreciated.
    Regards
    Chhuppa Rustam

    While a script would probably be best, photoshop 7 requires
    you download a scripting plugin which may or may not install
    in photoshop 7 depending on your version.
    You can probably do what you want with actions. The file naming part
    is not hard, but i have a couple of questions about the cropping.
    Are all the images the same size and are the crops in the same position for each?
    In other words on the P crop (200x250), is the crop in the same position on each
    image or different for each?

  • Appending the Original File Name as Suffix to Receiver File Name

    Been searching and I've seen Michael's blog about creating a UDF to place the original file name in the payload.    Since this is a file->file scenario, I have no mapping.
    I have the Adapter-Specific Attributes turned on on the Sender to pass the file name in the DynamicConfiguration of the message header and I can see it in the message.
    What I want to do it to have a target file name in the form of:   XXXXX_<i>originalfilename</i>.
    So I have turned on variable substitution and created a variable called 'file'.
    In the File Name Scheme Parameter I have entered: XXXXXX_%file%
    If I set the variable substitution refererance for 'file' to message:message_id, my file name is created as XXXXX_message_id,  or any of the other options from -> <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm">SAP Adapter Help Page</a>

    No, you cant read in mapping what you set in CC.
    However, you can ignore the parameter FileName scheme in CC and just set it in mapping runtime.
    The way you are using, you'll have to maintain the prefix for each receiver adapter you have. If you had it in mapping, you could just do something like:
    String receiver = container
        .getTransformationParameters().
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.SENDER_SERVICE);
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        “http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File”,
        “FileName”);
    String orgFileName = conf.get(key);
    String tgtFileName = receiver + "_" + orgFileName;
    conf.put(key, tgtFileName);
    and then you wouldn't have to maintain the file name scheme in CC.

    Henrique.

  • Getting original file name to show in Metadata list.

    I always convert to dng first thing. Then rename the files with clients name. I know that the original file name is still in the metadata, but how do I get it to show up on LR's metadata list?

    Ah. Thank you very much. I figured it was simple, just did not have time to play around to try to find it. I do not often need it, but sometimes my boss will edit a shoot before giving it to me. I prepare it for the customer. Sometimes he has wanted an image that he has under the original file name. So, this helps. Thanks again.
