How to recover OS X Mavericks 10.91 without waiting 40 ours?

Hi.
I tried to recover my OS X 10.91 on my Macbook Pro Retina late 2013,because normal download from MAS does not work for that Model.
But everytime when i start the recovery the download will need between 35 and 50 ours.
I wait 2h and still 5% only done,then i break.
It is not the Internet Connection because normaly i download much more faster.
So is there any solution to  make my system new?
Sorry Apple but this is fully trash.
greets Klaus

After stopping the 40 our download i tried again now.
A new record. 227 our.This only can be a joke,so i waiting.
Yesterday i go to apple store and tried to recover on a usb,but the same slow.
The Apple Store Employee looked suprised when he try to download the system from the store and the error message appear"you can not install this system on that computer"So it looks like also Apple Employe do not know about that new Install Methods. After 2.5 ours trying we come to the point waiting for a update.
I live in Shanghai because of Job.Normal the Internet Speed is no problem but for this thing its crazy.
APPLE is it so difficult just make a install file or recovery file for the new Macbooks they already have the OS X 10.9x installed for reinstalling if some System issues.
Oh my god this is so easy on Windows System.
very unhappy with a expensive high end computer.
I brake my rule.Never by a Apple Product because of their Jail policy.
You have to know before i by the MAC i have to decide between the new Dell XPS 15 with the same High End Components and better Screen Resolution and the MAC.
After so many trouble it looks like i make the wrong decision.

  • How do i downgrade to Maverick from Yosemite without using Time Machine

Hi , there , so i have a mbp 15' mid 2010 , and i thought hey why no update to the latest software, cause why not.
biggest mistake. my start up and restart has been real slow and i think i could live with it until safari starts to crash real often.
so yeah , here i am asking for help because my last backup from maverick is dated way back to July and i do not want to lose all my stuff ( not really sure how time machine works )
    thanks in advances guys !

You will have to make a backup of your current content as reverting back means erasing the hard drive.
Rename the older backup as you do not want to over write it...then restart on the recovery HD partition by holding the Command and R keys.  Choose Disk Utility, then the internal drive where Yosemite is installed, and Erase.
Then choose Restore and drag the old backup to the Source box and the drive you just erased, Macintosh HD, to the Destination box.
After that finishes, could take a fair amount of time, you will have to start picking specific material from your latest backup to restore...DO NOT restore the whole backup as that will take you right back to Yosemite.

  • How to recover my iPhone 6 from disabled without losing my data as the backup in my iTunes is old and not updated.

    Hi,
I have iPhone 6 and the after the screen has broken the phone was starting to enter random passcode from itself until its locked and disabled. I have replaced the screen with a new one and I need to make a backup of my data in the phone and not reset or restore from the phone backup in my iTunes as it's old and not updated. Kindly advise me how to make this task as I have important data I need to not lose.
    Best regards,

You cannot now. The only way to reset the passcode and remove the disabled status is to restore the device. There is no way to make a new backup now.  That is actually the whole point of the passcode attempt limitation and the disabling of the device - to keep someone without the passcode from getting at your data. Once disabled, your sole single recourse is to restore it in order to be able to do anything with it.
At this point you can restore from your existing backup, or as new. Either way, you've already lost the current data on the device.

  • How to recover contacts from Iphone after reset without backup?

    Hey guys.
Bad timing, bad luck and an annoying situation.  My computer had a meltdown so all my data was wiped.  Then my phone was on a continual boot logo with the apple screen.  The computer is back, the iphone is back with new software.  I have lost everything on the phone when it was reinstalling the software.
Is there a way of getting into the harddrive of the phone, getting the data (Really want contacts) and undeleting them?  Hope it is possible but googling has left me with little hope
    Cheers
    Tom

I thought as much.  I won't go into details but the hard drive with backup wasn't looked after by a friend and I haven't had time to buy another one yet.  Such is life.
Dont even ask me why didn't I have backup of the hard drive or my head might explode!

  • How do I know that Homesharing is working - without waiting for hours to check destination device?

How do I know or can tell that Homesharing is working between iTune devices without having to wait some time to check the destination device?

    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to?
The Mac computer will automatically connect to the wireless access point with the strongest signal...which is probably the closest AirPort. An iPhone or iPad may not do this and will tend to stay connected to one AirPort.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
On a Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility. Click on one of AirPorts. In the area to the right, locate the AirPort ID and jot that down. Then do the same for your other AirPort.
Move your Mac near one of the AirPorts and log on to the wireless. Hold down the option key on the Mac while you click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID. That is the AirPort ID of the device to which you are connected.
If you are close to the "remote" AirPort, and you see the AIrPort ID of the "main" router when you are testing, then you know that the network is not configured correctly.
Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
There will be a modest 10-15% bandwidth loss with the "extend" setup, assuming that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from the AirPort to which it is associated. You can avoid the bandwidth loss if the Express is also connected via Ethernet as part of the roaming configuration.

  • How do I access files that have been recovered (after a Mavericks problem) with the .cca file extension

How do I access files that have been recovered (after a Mavericks problem) with the .cca file extension

First, to access documents you must use an app designed for that specific Document type. So Pages will not be able to open PDFs. The Documents app by Readdle can handle PDFs though. In the latter case, you'd open the app, click the menu icon at its top left, and click Open to go to your iCloud Drive. With Pages, if you had files outside the main Pages folder, click + then iCloud and navigate to the file's location.

  • How to recover a TM backup from a NAS drive

I am using a MBPro from 2011. I lost a lot of family pictures due to my iPhoto library loosing the connection to the original hi-res files. At the moment I try to recover those with Data Rescue4 but it looks I lost quite a lot.
Now, I do have the following situation:
Until March 2014 my iPhoto Library resided on my Mac HDD
The HDD broke and had to be exchanged
So I moved the iPhoto Library onto a newly bought 2TB external HDD that I connect via USB (a WD MyPassport Ultra)
Now due to the situation described above, I need to recover the last iPhoto Library that resided on my Mac, but which was never used in iPhoto since the hardware crash
When I open iPhoto and then TimeMachine, it does not offer me to recover pictures from that last backup, which is from March 2014 and is about 135GB large. I assume the reason is that I haven´t used it in iPhoto, so iPhoto can´t know.
The TM backup on my NAS, a 4TB Seagate Central is 1,2 TB large. The seagate central cannot be connected to a Mac via USB or wire. According to it´s description, the only way to get data on and off is via ethernet. Having read that TM does not support backing up from a NAS, I assume I need to copy the 1,2 TB backup TM file onto another external HDD that I can attach via USB. Is this correct ? Does this help ?
And then I would need to recover it - but how given the situation above ??
I am pretty desperate meanwhile as I´ve been working on this for the last four weekends...
Within the process of data recovery I bought iPhoto Library Manager, PhotoSweeper and DataRescue4 in order to help recover the data. But I don´t know if this helps here. I´ve tried everything to recover my old files with those tools already.
I would very much appreciate your advice on how to recover my TM backup.

You can or should be able to recover the iphoto library directly from the NAS.. you do not need to copy it to a disk.
TM cannot create a backup from a network source.. but it is very happy using a network target.
Our friend Pondini wrote extensive notes on recovery of various important files using TM
    See Q15 here. http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
There is a link in there to recovery of iphoto in particular under various OS.. but the guy died before Yosemite was inflicted on the Apple Community.
TM has never worked particularly well since Yosemite.. so I can only offer my hope that the method still works..
Here is an example of recovery manually of iphoto library from TM backup I did to show how it is done.
Can't access old files on time capsule
In Yosemite you might be able to simply right click on the file in Finder.. and it bring up an option to recover it from TM.. of course that would assume TM was going to actually work and that is a bridge too far for Yosemite.
In the end.. you can of course do a full recovery to a USB drive plugged into your computer.. I have also used that method to get around issues with finding stuff from old backup.. however IMHO the manual method of digging through the backup offers you the best chance of recovery.
Do protect the TM sparsebundle.. in the end that is the only connection back to you files you have.. so saving a copy of the sparsebundle to a USB drive is not a bad idea.. Certainly do nothing in terms of manipulating the sparsebundle.. you can extract files from it.. copy it to another location.. but make no changes to original sparsebundle on the network drive whatsoever.. so do not continue backups to it or anything like that.
My strong recommendation btw since Yosemite or even Mavericks was to use Carbon Copy Cloner.. and make a bootable backup of your main operating system and any other drives.. You would not be in this mess if you had .. so for future reference.. TM is not really adequate.

  • How to recover old OS X installation on the ssd after installing a beta OS X on a usb thumb drive?

I just installed the brand new OS X 10.10 Yosemite beta 2 on a USB thumb drive.
    It almost works.
Now I want to boot my good old OS X 10.9 Mavericks from the SSD.
But there is no option for that, if I reboot the macbook holding the opt key!
I see only "Install OS", "Recover 10.9" and "OS X Yosemite", if I plug in the thumb drive.
But if I boot the  OS X 10.10 beta 2 from the thumb drive, I can browser my SSD "Macintosh HD", see all the folders and files, it's still there!
If I choose "Recover 10.9", it says, I can re-install the OS X or recover my Mac from the time machine or ask for help online, what I'm actually doing.
How can I make the SSD bootable again, without re-installing the OS X and losing my data? Yes, there is still an option to restore from the time machine, but it's too long, I need my computer now.
    It's a rMBP 15" early 2013.
    Thanks

Found it: in the disk utility menu select start volume.
    Thanks.

  • How to recover safari history that has been cleared

    I have a 2012 iMac running Mavericks OSX 10.9.4 4GB 1333 MHZ
I frequent a social network site that hosts photos, private mail conversations and blog discussions.
I use an app " safari cache explorer" that will very quickly look at the cache files from the browser history and give me the option to view the line items as plain text, web page, or image. The plain text view is not really that readable so I would like any suggestion on how to convert that part to something more useful. The items that can be viewed as web pages are perfect and appear exactly as the did when I was on that webpage.
Here is my problem. If the clear history function has been used in safari that explorer app has nothing to look at and sometimes I need to go back and find a preveiously viewed webpage. I am using time machine to backup to a Seagate backup plus drive and I have read at least several online discussions as well as everything on this community board on how to recover to recover to recover those files. There have been several  highly detailed explinations on how to accomplish this task but not one has worked.
Is it possible to retrive the history.plist, cache plist or whatever is needed to see those web pages from a week or two ago in a manner that they are usable?
If so what are the exact instructions on doing this task. A procedure that actually works would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Safari/History.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Enter Time Machine and restore the selected item from a snapshot that predates the unwanted changes. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How to recover Deleted file from HARD DISK

By mistake my entire AVCHD file of 90 Mts  duration was deleted from my Hard Disk, this  I realised after a week., in the meantime I have not added or deleted any file from this hard Disk. I had given my this hard disk to my service engineer to recover the video., he has tried and recover some 40 mb file., but I cant open this recovered video file in Premiere or any other video convertor programme., also I cant get any information about Video.
Can anybody in the forum help me and suggest how to recover my deleted Video from the Hard disk

Hi, hard disk data loss is actually a hard task for many users 'cause most of them think this kind of problems is a complicated situation. Here are some tips you need to know after data loss happened.
    1. If you meet the file loss situation, keep calm and stop using your computer to do any read or write operation until you find the way to recover the lost files because any wrong operation.
    2. If you've lost a file, time is of the essence. As new files saved to Mac hard drive or storage devices, the original files gets overwritten. So do not use the drive or disk which your deleted files are stored before at all, until you have completed the scanning and recovery process.
    3. The system crashed or the files loss situation happens occasionally, so remember build a backup for the files periodically is strongly needed.
    4. If you meet the file loss situation again, stop using the Mac or storage device right now, use another computer to process the files recovery.
    5. Remember this, no matter at the normal time or after files recovery, build a backup for the files periodically is the best method to protect your files from data loss situation.

  • How to recover lost folders and files - Pls help, help...

Some days ago I lost all of my 15 GB folders and files that stored in my Macbook Pro hard drive called DATA.  I brought my Macbook pro to an experienced computer tecnicians who providing data recovery services. To his and my suprise, after checking, scanning it a few hours, he said their is no way to recover because he did not find any trails at all.  The computer still seems working properly - I have no problem with any applications.  There are few other folders in the DATA hard disk containing pictures, computer programs still remain.  These lost folders and files contain mainly documents (word, excel, power point, pdf etc) which I accumulated in my many years working  !!!!.  I did not make a back up since last September partly because I think Mac is very safe.
The computer with me all the time on that day and only my son used Power Point to make a simple presentation on that evening - he can not save it on the folders the he normally use - All the folders and files are gone.
I will appreciate it very much if any of you can tell me what would be the possible causes and more importanly how to recover the lost folders and files.  They are very very valuable to me.
Many thanks for your kind attention

First, did the data actually get deleted, or is it still there somewhere?  Try searching the drive for some of the documents, perhaps it's all just in another folder on that drive.
If it's truly gone, it's impossible for us to say what might have happened to make it unrecoverable.  Perhaps someone using the computer used Secure Empty Trash, or securely erased empty space on the hard drive.  Perhaps it was overwritten by other stuff before you noticed.  It's possible the hard drive is starting to fail, though this seems like an awfully specific problem for that to be the issue.
Or perhaps the tech you took the computer to didn't know what he was doing.  Why not try recovering what you can on your own?  See Recovering deleted files.
You should be aware that no computer is safe.  All computers rely on hardware that may fail and software that can have bugs.  You absolutely MUST maintain a good set of frequently-updated backups...  no fewer than two full backups of anything you don't want to lose.
