How to recover project final cut pro x

Hi,
I was working for several hours on a project with Final Cut Pro X and suddently I saw the beach ball spinning and FCP X frozed.  The last action that I did was to ad a title on a scene.
I already used twice that same type of title on my timeline and I didn't had problem before. Now, when I open the project, FCP X doesn't respond...
My question is how can I recover my projet ?  Is their a Autosave Vault somewhere ?
Pleas... help me :-(
Pierre

OK,
I just find a way to work around that problem.
I dragged my Problematic project out of the «Final Cut Projects». It took a while...
I relaunched FCP X and I was able to open this project becaus I worked with a sub-timeline.  Whien It opened, I trashed the last title that I made and I quit FCP X.
I placed the project back in the «Final Cut Projects».
I crossed my fingers and I open FCP X and everything is back in line.  Ouf!!!
Thanks for your support and I hope this workaround will help others fighting to get back in line.

The other option is to get Xto7, which may be much easier than Resolve and faster.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/xto7-for-final-cut-pro/id487899517?mt=12
But I don't know if Edius reads XML files.
If you need EDL files, DaVinci Resolve LITE (free) is the way to go.

(like you create a project in final cut but i want to save it, and import it into imovie..

    Hi -
Mr. Ross is right, there is no direct way to export your project with all it's elements into iMovie.
If, on the other hand, you have a completed sequence in FCP that you want to export as a finished element, then import into iMovie for you to re-edit or apply titles, music, etc. you would:
    In FCP:
Click on the Sequence Icon you want to export in your browser.
Go to the menu File > Export > Quicktime Movie. Give your movie a name a navigate to where you want it stored. Make sure you choose Settings: Current Settings and have the Make Movie Self Contained checked. Click Save.
    Close FCP and open iMovie.
    In iMovie:
Go to the menu File > Import > Movies and navigate to the movie you just exported from FCP. Choose if you want your movie imported in it's original size, etc.
Click Import. Your movie will be imported into iMovie.
Note that using this method only gives you only the elements that made up your FCP sequence, so this may not give you the flexibility you need.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to upgrade my Final Cut Pro 6 to X

How to upgrade my Final Cut Pro 6 to X?

There is no upgrade to FCPX, you have to buy it for $299.99. Yes, Russ is right, FCPX is very different than previous versions, I realized that I would have to start from scratch with it. Look up free tutorials online, there are a few good ones. If you try and just jump in, you'll get very frustrated very fast. Take the time to learn it before you try any important projects. • How to export from Final Cut Pro after downloading Maverick

Final Cut Pro no longer exports after installing Maverick.  I get this: The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)  - have paid for Compressor and instaled it - but it makes no difference.

But how do I update Final Cut Pro 10.0.3?  Apple says all my updates for everything are fine.  It worked well before I installed Maverick, and now I can't get any of my short films out of it!  They won't copy over to IMovie so I have to start again and basically scrap Final Cut Pro - which seems a bit unfair just for updating to Maverick.  Makes the free download a bit pricey in the long term.

Yeah I'm getting the same issue.  I purchased a new Mac Mini yesterday purely to use the new FCPX, and now on day 1 I'm already running into problems... please don't make me switch to Premiere.
Set up the computer with external yesterday, never set anything to Time Machine.  Here's a screenshot of the drive, formatted on Mac OS Extended (Journaled):
And here's a screenshot of FCPX not recognizing the drive:
Apple please respond to this post, would really appreciate some help here troubleshooting.

  • How do I stop Final Cut Pro 10.1 from  introducing artifacts?

How do I stop Final Cut Pro 10.1 from introducing artifacts?
Can someone please tell me what do do differently so that my edited video does not develop artifacts that were not in the original camera file.  My Sony HDR CX900 produces crazy detailed XAVC S video that FCPX seems to import with no problem but FCPX is introducing artifacts: some on import and more on share. The artifact in the examples below appears above and below the horizontal rope line on this model boat. Please look closely. It doesn't look to bad here, but it dances on my screen. Also, the video generally degrades much more than I would have hoped. How can I get more professional results?  Sorry for the long post, but more information now might save time and questions.
Below is a portion of a frame opened in quicktime directly from camera's card.
Below is the associated Inspector for above frame
Here is the same after it is imported into FCPX. Optimized and Proxy Media were created, but FCPX seems to select what to play so I can't tell you which one is shown here.
Here is the associated Inspector capture from FCPX.
Here is the same frame once again after it is Shared as ProRes 422. Note the horizontal lines above and below the rope lines on this model yacht.
Here is Inspector for the above file.
Here is the same once again after it is Shared as H.264 Better Quality.
I tried converting to Proress with 5Dto RGB and Brorsoft Video Converter. They both went though the process, but introduced similar artifacts.
How can I get more professional results?

When I right click on the clip in the browser and select Transcode Media, the dialog box opens, Optimize Media is checked, but OK is greyed out. Transcode is not an option. I think this points to the fact that FCPX is doesn't need to transcode XAVC-S or FCPX can't transcode XAVC-S. This is a new Sony codec produced by the new HDR CX900. The codec is HD at 50Mbps.
    Tom Wolsky,
I selected Optimized Media in the viewer and both the timeline and exports (422 and H.264) look great.
The 24 second long exported video jumps a couple of times as if skipping a frame, as it plays. Could this be related to 29.97 instead of 30fps?
Thank you so much for getting the image right. Now if I can just eliminate those couple of small jumps.

How can I transfer Final Cut Pro X to another computer without connecting the two

As Kappy said, download it from the App Store - this will give you a brand new copy. However unlikely, it's just possible you might be copying a corrupt version from the original computer.
In the App Store, make certain you use the same Apple ID that the App was purchased with.

  • How can i import old projects (Final Cut Pro 10) to the new (final cut pro 10.1.1)?

    Hi everyone,
I have a folder full of backup projects and events of Final Cut Pro X.
Now, I have Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 and I don't know how to use those projects, since they were in a different folder.
    Yhanks very much
    Bruno

I'm assuming these are on a secondary drive. At the drive's root level make folders called Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events. Move the projects and events you want to work with into those folders. In FCP use File>Update projects and events. Select the drive you want to update and FCP will update the projects and events in those folders. Save the originals as backups.

  • How to set up Final Cut Pro, Pro Res and H.264 project

Before I dive into this edit, I want to be sure it will all be compatible.  Here's what I have:
Pro Res HQ422 footag,  imported it into Final Cut Pro.  I also have H.264 footage imported into Final Cut Pro. Will it be possible to mix the H.264 footage on the ProRes timeline?  The ProRes footage was shot on a Canon 7d Mk II with an Atomos Ninja Star.  I have another batch of footage I'd like to use shot on a Canon 6d (full frame) that imports in as H.264.  This project will also use stills in the edit.
    Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
    thanks
    JR

Many of us will tell you it's no big deal to mix your media codecs. Your modern Macintosh can handle the job. Mostly.
Myself, I use workflows that carry over from ye olden days. I transcode everything to my planned release codec before beginning to edit and the timeline is the release medium's codec. In this case, I'd be moving everything to ProRes422 (not HQ) because you can't really gain anything by converting your DSLRs' MPEG4 to ProResHQ. I have really good reasons for this step but my reasons probably are not valid to anyone else.
Whatever advice you receive here, you must design and conduct some useful tests to determine if said advice is any good for your workflow and machine's specs. Know what your release medium is going to be; how high does the editing, rendering, and sharing quality need to be before you hit the ceiling?

  • How to get past Final Cut Pro X hanging at 95% exporting to YouTube?

Final Cut Pro X takes hours to process a project to share through YouTube and then hangs at 95%.  What can I do to fix this?

See if you can first upload the video in lesser quality, so if it is HD 1080p, try to scale it down SD or large 540p. You can do that by unchecking the "set size automatically" and choosing the size. Also ensure first that the faster encode (single pass) is on. Then upload the video and see what happens. By the way, how long is your video?

the first time, I installed everything, then my effects-tab in FCPX was a bit crowded, used the steps you mentioned too - and, oh wonder, on next launch, everything back again!

  • How do I take Final Cut Pro off one computer and move it to a new one?

I'm using Final Cut Pro Academic, and I can only run the program on one computer. If I'm getting a new computer, how do I move the program from my old computer to my new computer? Is there a way to "deauthorize" my old computer? If there is, I can't seem to find it.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Excellent! Do I need to do anything to ensure the the program installs on the new computer? Do I need to make sure the computer is connected to the Internet when I uninstall the program from the old computer?
